I requested assistance in troubleshooting a flame loss code on a tankless water heater. It was apparent pretty early that I knew more about these units than the employees who came out. One was in training and spent a majority of his time sitting outside on his phone. That aside, the primary tech stated they rarely work on these and I had suggested a few things to look for which he agreed was a good idea - almost as he was remembering some distant training he had. He used a service valve that filled the condensation pipe with water which presented a leak within the wall coming out under the drywall. Instead of connecting a hose or something to drain into a bucket he kept using it and causing more water to fill inside the wall. Eventually they had to call the manufacturer for support and they required a manometer to successfully troubleshoot, which the tech proceeded to call a "worthless piece of shit" and hung up because they were not equipped with these tools. They had to come back the next day after acquiring the tools which were ~$100. They proceeded to confirm the heat exchanger and gas valve needed replaced under warranty. The parts were sent to D&H directly while I awaited the quote... $2800 in labor to replace these parts. This was egregious and downright unacceptable. I refused the estimate and requested to pickup the parts myself which they would not provide me as the home owner. The option was to send them back to the manufacturer and I would have to request another warranty replacement. This meant a delay of over a week to send back and honestly felt like a hostage/punishment for refusing their estimate, call out another company, request the parts again and have them replaced. The manufacturer was very helpful in facilitating this but with numerous calls and emails by me to both in order to resolve this made this experience much worse than it had to be. Ultimately, went with McConnell plumbing which replaced the parts and repaired the leaking pipe for $650. They were incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to provide a great experience. I won't ever to business with D&H after this and will ensure to tell friends and family who ask for recommendations to not to business with them either. read more

My issue is that the same problem has persisted after over $1k spent and several visits in five months. I expected so much more from them. I hate to give such a low rating for a company that I've used for decades, but they really let me down and I will no longer use them. read more

Wow!!! Trying to leave on a family reunion and stepped into a wet closet rug. The water heater shares a common wall and had been dripping water for a long time. I rarely step into the closet without shoes on so obviously did not realize this was going on. Drabeck & Hill sent Josh (I think that's his name) he was there within a very short period of time (we live semi-rural). Did a great job including flushing the tank for impurities--- so so thankful. I had my a/c unit tuned up before summer weather. The tech was very smart and friendly. Everything might have been perfect, but my a/c unit broke the very next week. Coincidence? Maybe. But that's what the tuneup was for--to make sure it wouldn't break during the heat of the summer. Then it broke the very next week when the weather was still cool. I am a therapist who had a disabled client who used these people for a quote. She was told she needed a new motor or a new unit. 1900 dollars. She cannot afford this so I spent hours and hours seeking help. Found an individual who donated his time and found that all she needed was a low cost condenser. He paid out of pocket and donated his time. The sad thing is, this company LIED to her. TOOK her 180 for diagnose and LEFT a disabled women in a home that could not be cooled down. She could have died of heat stroke and if these people are trained and did their jobs, it was a simple and fairly cheap repair and her ac now works no thanks to them. This is horrible! They probably would have changed the cheaper part and pocketed all her money (which she didn't have which is why she was close to heat stroke by the time I found help from and HONEST and KIND and GENEROUS person). You should be ASHAMED! According to the better business bureau this is not the first person they have done this to and I plan to contact in your corner and anyone else who will listen Update: 7/16/24-this company does not want to return her money and has demanded to see her WORKING UNIT REPAIRED BY SOMEONE ELSE WITH THE CORRECT DIAGNOSIS AND PART unit and inspect it and demanded that I (not even her) take down this review before considering giving money back. I used D&H this past weekend when I woke up to a frigid house. I attempted my own troubleshooting on my furnace but lets be honest, I don't know what I'm doing the majority of the time. I called D&H, purely because they were one of the few open on Sunday's with a decent rating. Anyway, a lovely tech named Huran came by within a few hours time. It ended up being a relatively easy fix but Huran took the time to do some other maintenance checks to make sure I got my service fee worth. He also showed me how to troubleshoot the fix in the future, which was a hidden reset button I didn't know existed on my beast of a furnace. All in all, for an unforeseen expense, it was relatively painless and educational. read more

I used D&H a few years ago for a service call and thought they did a great job. So, there was really no question on who I was going to call when my Gas Valve went out. I thought I could trust these people to be fair. The service guy, Hulon, was rude. I was also a bit surprised at what they charged me for a gas valve. I called a few other HVAC companies in the area and did some research online and found out that D&H charged me about 400% more than what others were charging for the same gas valve. This was for the EXACT Same part... same make and model number. I did have a meeting with the service manager to give them a chance to restore the confidence I previously had with the company, and he did apologize for the service tech. However, he couldn't give me a good reason for the excessive markup of the gas valve and seemed like he just wanted to argue to defend their overpriced service call. I'm not as concerned about the money as I am about the feeling of being ripped off. Go somewhere else if you want a fair price. I received a very nice apology letter from the owner today in response to the billing error. I appreciate their willingness to make things right and will most likely use them again in the future. Rude, worst ever customer experience. Set up and appointment with them on Tuesday, had to wait until Friday. They showed up 1 hr late and nobody on the phone nor the technician ever apologized. When I told the technician I had been waiting he responded he had been working all day. I said that was not my fault and he said 'have a good day' and walked away, drove off. He never looked at my unit. I waited for a week, was treated always poorly and my A/C still needs to be looked at. This is the worst experience I have ever had as a customer. THEY ARE A RIP OFF!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! EVER!! I called them out to fix our air conditioning that was no longer blowing cold air. Jeffrey(the technician) came out to diagnose the problem. His prognosis was that our whole outside unit was shot ,compressor was bad , and parts on it would not be able to be replaced because the unit is de-commissioned and parts are no longer available for this unit. I was desperate to get it fixed due to having my elderly mother in a hot house and not wanting my spouse (who was recently admitted into the hospital) stressing over trying to figure out getting it fixed that I went ahead and scheduled a same day appointment for the "sales" guy to come out and give me a quote on replacing the unit. The sales guy showed up a couple hours later and quoted me $6800 ( that was including a discount of $350). While waiting for my husband to call me back and give me the go ahead, I spoke to a friend who recommended to get a second opinion and offered to send out his AC guy. His AC guy showed up in 15 min, and had our air working in 20min. He magically had parts for our unit ON HAND( ya know the unit Jeffrey told us we wouldn't be able to get parts for) and then they charged the Freon. BOOM FIXED, and it wasn't even the compressor.. it was the starter capacitor that starts the compressor. Ohhh and btw... that $6800 new unit we were told we needed to replace was a $350 fix and took 20 MIN!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! After all was said and done, my husband called Jeffrey back to find out why he was going to charge us $6800 for something that ended up costing us $350, and all he could say was.. "sorry I misdiagnosed it" DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!! They are either ripping people off or not hiring trained HONEST techs!!! Such a joke!!!
