SCAMMERS! We have been ordering from here for years. We ordered the lunch special and switched from rice to lo mein noodles like we always do. The upcharge is usually $1.00 for each order. I placed my order on the phone and asked for the total, she stated it was $54. My sister went to pick up our order and was charged $65. When she asked for a receipt she was not given one until she asked for one several times again. When she received it she realized she was charged $3.50 for each lo mein. I called back and spoke to the person who took my order and asked why she was overcharging us (we order every week and know the prices). She could not give an answer. Servers taking your order are super easy to understand and communicate with when ordering, whether in house or over the telephone...and you can't always say that about ordering Chinese food(sorry, haha). This is the best Chinese food I have found around Bay Ridge. Believe me, I have tried other spots out of convenience and have regretted not coming here instead. I don't know what it is, the food is tastier. When I get the general tso here, the sauce is just right not too sweet and a bit spicy just the way I like it. The chicken wings and french fries is also my go to. Although the service here varies. Sometimes the cashier is nice and sometimes he isn't. It depends on the day. However, it does not really matter to me. I never ate in here, I have always come here for take out. As long as the food remains to my satisfaction, we will always have a take out relationship. I grew up in Bay Ridge, and have had family in the neighborhood all my life. I estimate that a good 75+ of the Chinese food I've had in my life has come From Dragon China. Trust me. Nobody on Yelp knows Dragon China like I do. I have the menu in front of me right now and I've had 59 of their dishes. Yes, 59. To give you a little bit of history, Dragon China has had three distinct periods in its lifetime. I can't place exact dates or even years, but it goes like this: When Dragon China opened up, it was obvious that they rocked. In fact, they stole all the Chinese-food business we used to send to the guys that used to be on 84th Street and 3rd Avenue. Then at some point in the mid-90's, Dragon China went downhill, descending into the wide swath of mediocre Chinese food that dominates much of Bay Ridge. You know what I'm talking about - the mushy slop that's not even good for filling you up. However, about five years ago, Dragon China put it's game face back on and upped their quality back to where it was when the joint opened. New management? New chef? I don't know and I don't care, but suffice it to say that Dragon China is firing on all cylinders once again. I no longer order from Dragon China simply because it's close to me. I order because they make lightning-fast deliveries, they never screw up orders, and the food is cheap and tasty. Dragon China's menu does not reach the otherworldly heights of the best places in Chinatown, but it is great for what it is - a purveyor of mass-market oriented Chinese food. As I stated above, I've consumed a huge portion of Dragon China's menu items, and they excel at almost everything - including the non-Chinese parts of the menu. (get the crispy white-meat chicken!) Dragon China makes awesome spare ribs, fantastic chicken & broccoli, and I lust after the orange beef on a regular basis. They also cook up great dumplings and pepper steak, and if you go on the right day, the fried chicken is pretty magical. The Mongolian beef is also pretty damn good. When I want to go all out, I go for Happy Family - the smorgasbord of shrimp, lobster meat, chicken, beef, pork, and vegetables that was an outrage to my late mother's Depression-era mentality regarding food. And unlike some other Chinese restaurants that shall remain nameless, Dragon China is not cheap with the Won Tons when you order a pint of soup. I'm being completely serious here. There are some Chinese restaurants that believe you can get away with giving customers three Won Tons in a pint of soup. Not Dragon China - they always give me five. So take it from me. Their kitchen staffs do not wear masks at all during this pandemic time. The waiter seems like the owner. When he talked to me, he put his mask down. I politely asked him to put it on, but he felt unhappy and explained, " Our physical distance is 6 feet already. If I don't put down the mask, I cannot hear you clearly." I placed my order. While waiting for him to take my credit card because he was busy on taking several phone orders, I saw two of their chefs appeared and started to cook without mask. I politely confirmed to the owner if he sends my order to the kitchen, gave my credit card to him and asked him to take a look at the kitchen staffs. The owner said, " It is impossible to see chefs to wear masks at all kitchens of Chinese restaurants in New York. If you do not like it, we won't charge you." So the only thing stopping me from giving one star is that the food tasted decent. Before I get into why, let me say that I had my food delivered, I did not eat there. First issue was I called sometime after placing my order since it seemed to be taking long, trouble is they didn't answer. Second issue, the delivery dude was a prick. He showed up and rang the doorbell repeatedly until my girlfriend went to the door. When she opened the door he practically threw the food at her and harshly asked for a signature. Then he snatched the paper and stormed off. The first thing to concern is their cheap price, they offer great discounts and lunch combo prices. unlike other ones, they don't mass up with the quality of discount food. And their food tasted like what were like in China, maybe because their chef is a typical Chinese; the food taste amazing. I mean, really. Its people are nice, too. Until, a few days ago when the store closed, telling patrons that it was because they were having an issue with their "gas line." They have no visible health violation notices posted, but, being suspicious, I looked it up myself on the NYC Dept of Mental Health and Hygenie Website (http://www.nyc.gov/html/doh/html/services/restaurant-inspection.shtml) (which, btw is amazing, you can look up any restaurant in the city).
