The guy was either inexperienced or an idiot. He charged me $300 and left me hanging. I went to Yelp and found Drains Inc. They had great reviews so I gave them a try. Tim (owner) and Adam (apprentice) came out and kicked butt. Like I said, my situation was unique. My line not only runs through the neighbor's yard, it runs under their breezeway and into their front yard. And the house is for sale and vacant. Tim took control, tracked down the owner, got permission to dig in their yard not once, but twice, and got the job done. Tim was making calls on his own time to help get the project done in as soon as possible and with as little inconvenience to me as possible. Communication was great throughout. Tim was absolutely FANTASTIC to work with. Him and Adam came out yesterday to rod our main sewer line and do a camera inspection of the line. I shopped around different companies and his price was definitely better than the others. When I initially contacted him, he got back to me right away and was happy to schedule time to come out and see what our issues were. He was hands down the most educated plumber I've ever dealt with. He came in and after looking at our setup, he told me all about our plumbing system and why we potentially have had issues (something no other plumber bothered to do). Every other plumber tried to sell me on everything they could, but he was more concerned with making my current system work to the best of its ability before suggesting any sort of replacement. He ended up needing to hydrojet our line to get it running at 100%, but he explained everything each step along the way and let me know my options. My kitchen drain clogged and being the penny-pinching home owner that I am, I thought I could handle the problem myself. After days of messing with it to no avail and being nagged by my wife to "just call someone already!" I gave in and hit Yelp. I found Drains, Inc, and while they didn't have a ton of reviews they were all 5 stars and glowing. I called Tim and described my problem. He said he was very busy that week but gave me a short time range he would be able to make it out. He called about an hour before arriving to make sure we were home and so we could clear his workspace. He was very friendly to me and my wife and even took the time to interact with my annoying kids. He was quick and courteous. He finished the job within an hour and insisted on cleaning up the very small mess that was left behind. He patiently answered any questions I had and gave me some tips for preventing the issue in the future. Oh, and on top of the excellent service he quoted me the lowest price. I called this company going through the list from my Yelp search. I ended up committing to an appointment with another sewer line rodding/camera plumbing service company in the midst of those phone calls. However, Drains Inc (Tim) called me back about an hour after those calls and despite mentioning that I booked an appointment with someone else, he did not rush to hang up and go about his day. Tim spoke to me for 15 minutes and asked about my issue and gave me some really great advice to save me money. That kind of ethics and integrity is rare these days and he really didn't have to. I am keeping my appointment with the other plumber to be respectful to my commitment to the next day appointment for basic rodding, but I am definitely calling Drains Inc the next time something in my money pit of a house decides to go wrong. He hauls everything in his van saving you time and money for sewer line issues, which are almost always time sensitive (so no need to wait for a rodder or a camera to be borrowed or rented). I called a few companies to diagnose the issue in my 4 unit building. I had spoken with a few companies for what i thought was grease removal but it turned out I had sand filling up in my catch basin which was stopping the grease from flowing out of building. I had gotten ridiculous quotes of replacing my entire catch basin which would have 3X more than what Tim charged me. I also had a sewage smell coming from basement which was going into tenant's apartments, which turned out to be a broken pipe underneath the concrete. Tim came out with his helper and diagnosed the issue properly, removed the sand from catch basin, hydro jetted all the way to cleanout in the basement, broke the concrete and replaced the pipe underneath with a PVC pipe which will have a longer life. i just have to keep up with the maintenance every year or two to keep the grease cleaned. Tim was a personable guy and was easy to deal with which was one of the reasons why I went with his company over others. I just had a great experience with Tim R from Drains Incorporated. He was helpful on the phone, reviewing my issue and he gave me a verbal quote that was much less than everyone else. He uses the camera every time (without extra charge) because, in his own words, how would he know he did a good job if he didn't use the camera? He also is not one of these big companies that have to charge more for the overhead of an office, so you know where your money is going. I will be using him from now on! For reference, the service he provided was for main sewer inspection and root rodding. I had previously used the scottish plumber for root rodding (about 2 months prior) because they have a low price rodding special - unfortunately it is low price because they do a terrible job! My brother referred me to Tim at Drains Inc. I left a voice mail and he called be back in less than an hour. My neighbor and I share a waste line and we needed to rod out their sink due to slow draining. After rodding for a bit he mentioned that we should hydro jet the line for a longer lasting solution to the problem. There was no point where I thought I was being "up sold." His vehicle, equipment and assistant along with his genuine and honest assessment of the situation made me comfortable with the slightly higher price for what is considered to be an industry standard for properly clearing drain lines. Tim and Keith came on time to help with a leak in the bathroom that had gone to the condo unit below mine, and replace a kitchen faucet. They where professional and polite. They work with my insurance company too! The repair in the bathroom was easy after working with the folks downstairs. When the old pvc pipe broke, they remained calm,cool, and professional,till the water was turned off. Replaced the old yellowed pvc, with new, and got the new faucet in. Now I know that everything did not go to as planned, but that is Murphy's Law. But we all had a good laugh afterwards. Everything is working well, and my kitchen has a super clean floor!! I called Drains inc to troubleshoot and repair the sump pump discharge line on my mom's house. The job was over the capabilities of our usual plumber. They came the same day I called, and called me several times throughout the job to let me know what they found, and what the options moving forward were. Most other contractors don't bother calling me until the job is over, so I greatly appreciated the communication. They rodded in several places with two different machines and removed a lot of tree roots and the flow is better. We called Drains Inc. to examine our sewer line from our 60 year old home in Des Plaines. They arrived within an hour and began work right on the spot. Tim, the owner, is extremely knowledgeable about all thing that "drain", especially sewers. We had several quotes from other firms to dig up the yard and replace sewer pipes running out of the house. We had a neighborhood storm drain that was blocked and couldn't pass any water. For the past several years every time it rained we had six homes with flooded back yards. Drains Inc was positive they could repair our drainage pipe and came over to jet rod the pipe. They found 20 feet of broken clay pipe in a 200 ft line...and fixed our issue in just one Day. I had a well known alphabet company attempt to fix my sewer clog/pipe. After three days and 4 different plumbers they failed.....I had enough of the run around.....I called Drain INC. After getting a price from one company who required a "deposit" of $600 to come out and hydro-jet my underground drain lines. Tim responded on Yelp right away and set up a time/date to stop by the house and take a look. Best thing about Tim is that he educates you on some of the possible issues and costs before he begins. I had multiple issues which in hindsight, a hydro-jet would not have fixed. I had a blockage in my main sewer drain, Tim and Adam showed up on time rodded main sewer drain noticed a crack with their camera (showed me the actual crack) came back the following week dug up main sewer drain under my concrete garage floor replace a 3 foot section of sewer drain that was rusted and corroded. Drains Inc. cleared out the drain from our kitchen yesterday and we are completely satisfied. When I called them beforehand to discuss the problem we were having, Tim was extremely helpful and upfront about possible solutions. Another firm I had called previously provided absolutely no information and wanted $120 to show up. Very Professional Company! We had a sewer pipe that had crumbled and needed replacement in Lake Forest. I had a sewer clog up that threatened to back up into the house. Contacted by Tim who said he could be therein an hour - and quoted a reasonable price! Turns out that with a camera review there was more than the initial clog, there were tree roots farther out. After discussion and monetary wrangling they went to work - for hours!
