We've used A & J to clean pump out small (-150 gal) catch basin for years. They do good, professional work but unfortunately their prices have skyrocketed. The catch basin cleaning was $260 in 2020 and has jumped to $399 in 2024. I like their work but not sure I can keep up with that kind of price increase. Time to shop around! read more

Wow - we've always had our septic tank cleaned out every two year - HOWEVER - unless you are told, who would there are at least 2 covers they need to be cleaning debris? Well, John found the second trap door & we've learned that we've never had our tank completely emptied in 16 years ... Well, we are clean now - thanks, John! Going forward ... we will be calling A&J for septic tank cleaning and/or if we need repairs! What a relief to know we can move forward with a clean septic! Called Friday 4/19 8am they said they would be out between 10-2pm. There was a little confusion on price, but when settled they were @ $60 more than when I had them out in 2006. Jeff showed up at noon about 15min after I got my catch basin lid unearth 28" below ground level. He pumped it out and suggested that I get the 8" plastic basin extension sections that they had in stock at the shop. I needed 3 sections and lid so next time whoever only has to dig 8" down!!! read more

Jason Owens came to our house to see about our hot water heater not working. He fixed it very quickly and was very careful to explain to my husband what it was that he did to fix the problem. We asked him to quote on replacing the galvanized pipe going from the water meter to the house pipes and he recommended that it is in good condition and not to waste our money. Totally unreliable. Made an appointment 2 weeks in advance and they did not show up. I missed half a day of work for which I am not paid. They never called to cancel. When I called them I was told "that the DOT" had pulled their license. I do not know about the DOT, but the courtesy of a call would have been appreciated. If they are not reliable enough to make simple phone call, I wonder what kind of work they do. read more

John came to our house yesterday and did an absolutely phenomenal job. We have lived there for almost 6 years now and have never had our septic tank cleaned or serviced. And who knows how longer before we moved in. I had no knowledge of how septic systems work. John showed up, was very knowledgeable and thorough in explaining how everything works. We didn't know there were 3 access points to the septic tank, one of which was under our patio. John worked incredibly hard and efficiently and was able to fully pump out our septic tank which contained years of sludge and help us clear a blockage from one of our main lines. This was all done the same day I called for service and for a very reasonable and fair price. I would highly recommend this company for any septic/sewer concerns in the future. I will definitely be calling them again to do our routine pumping from now on. read more

Very disappointing experience. Worked with them on a service date and they scheduled the wrong day. When the service tech showed up and I tried to move it, they wanted to charge $89. In addition, they didn't have the cost for rodding the line included in the quote (which was asked on original call). I had them doing 2 locations and it was a HUGE inconvenience to move schedules around to accommodate their scheduling error. When I asked them to work with me on pricing for additional service (rodding the line) since the tech was already there, the owner (Jeff Isaacs) was not interested in negotiating a one-time service discount or base pricing on actual hours of effort...so much for developing long term, loyal customers. I ended up paying for the service and it cost me an additional ~$250 in labor and lost productivity. The funny thing was that the rodding didn't even need to be done so the service discount wouldn't have even come into play...too bad he wasn't willing to discuss it. read more

BUYER BEWARE - this company doesn't have meters on their trucks. They can tell you they pumped out 1500 gallons but will not be able to provide any proof. They will charge you $250 for pumping out an overflowing tank, and when you question them about the amount pumped, they will tell you that you are too stupid to understand how a septic system works. They will give you a bunch of excuses- ground saturation..collapsed line...backflow problem....blah, blah, blah. Anything but their fault, because they conveniently don't repair septic systems and you have to call someone else for that. After talking to the manager/owner Jeff, I wouldn't trust them as far as I could throw them. Spend your money with a more reputable company. read more

We had our catch basin emptied by them last 2014. Did it again yesterday for $299 for an hour of work and $27 extra if work exceeds 1 hour. They're the only company i know that does this. Other companies i called said they don't have a pump truck to do this line of work. read more

A & J Sewer & Septic Service is a good company, they showed up ahead of schedule and fix my plumbing problem for a good price.

May I start by asking by a show of hands "Who knew your supposed to have your catch basin emptied every 2-4 years?" Well imagine my surprise when I woke up in the morning to my house smelling like a sewer and water and grease everywhere in the basement. Cue the freak out!! Called the plumber who after accessing the situation said they're was nothing he could do and I'd have to have a sewer/septic company out to empty the catch basin. Called A & J and they went above and beyond in making sure they got someone out to me right away. Joe made it out to me within the next 2 hrs and for a flat fee of $299, emptied the drain and had my house smelling better just as quickly. The only part that was disappointing was he wasn't able to rod my septic line right then and there and I had to call yet another plumber to come out and do it. But besides that he was great and I'd absolutely use and recommend this company again. read more

One company came out and just stared at the catch basin for about an hour before they said they would have to break up our whole side walk and needed to do something with the toilet stack?? I am so happy I called A&J, they showed up on time, our tech was so professional, job well done. I appreciate the follow up too.
