It's been a life time of waiting but Nicole managed to finally bring us to Mammoth Cave on our trip…read morenorth to Ohio. We could not get tickets ahead of schedule as they were all booked. We got to the park when it opened at 9am Sunday morning and managed to snag some tickets for the 12:15 self guided tour. In the intervening hours I ran 10 miles in a slow drizzle on a path that was crushed gravel following along the same stretch of road that we took to enter the park. When it was our turn we were called by the over head PA to meet at Shelter for a short talk by the ranger before descending to the cave 200 ft below. A walk way takes you to the mouth of the entrance. We were able to walk a total of 2 miles in the tunnels which had an average temperature in the 50s. Wear a sweater or jacket before you go. The cave system is the longest in the world and we definitely could have kept going but were turned around at 3/4 of a mile into it. The caves possessed an artifact as old as 5000 years but the network of caves had inhabitants for much older. We got our National Park Pass stamped and also enjoyed exploring the gift shop and museum at the visitor center. The park has a great network of trails and camping and a lodge / hotel. We finished up at around 2pm and after about 5 hours in the park. It was a pristine day in the park with so much more to see, so we look forward to the next time.

This place is close to Barren River Lake and the place that one of the locals recommended to find…read morebait. Although they rent canoes and kayaks there too, we didn't rent one. They have more than your average convenient store selections, but that is basically what it is and the best way to describe it... a convenient store. The bait store portion of The Landing, has a separate entrance and seemed like a completely different store altogether, but it wasn't. You can even have your purchase at the back register, in the bait "department". The prices are like convenient stores, higher than a grocery store. Overall I was more than willingly to pay the slightly inflated prices for the convenience factor and not having to drive about 30 minutes away to the closest grocery store.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!…read more This was hands down the most disorganized kayak rental experience I've ever had. Our reservation was for 12:00 PM. We were running about 10 minutes behind, so we called ahead, let them know, and even paid before arriving. After getting there, we waited nearly 30 minutes for transportation to the drop-off point. The woman at the office was nice and apologized, so we brushed it off. Unfortunately, that was only the beginning. When we arrived at the river, everything fell apart. An older gentleman and two teenagers were unloading kayaks, but nobody gave any instructions or directed customers. We stood waiting for another 15+ minutes while they unloaded equipment and chatted. When we finally asked what was going on, they realized they didn't even have enough kayaks or paddles for our group. We were told more kayaks were "already on the way." Meanwhile, we watched other customers launch themselves because nobody was helping them get into the water. There was another group with a 12:30 reservation sitting there with kayaks available, but instead of getting us on the river, we continued waiting. At around 1:35 PM, I called the office and was told it would be another 30-45 minutes. By then we were beyond frustrated. A manager eventually got involved, but instead of apologizing, she seemed irritated that we were upset. After more waiting and more promises that kayaks were "almost there," transportation finally returned around 2:15 PM with additional kayaks. Remember, our reservation was for noon. We had already spent over two hours waiting. The best part of the day was actually being on the river. The river itself was enjoyable, and once we finally got in the water, we had a good time. Then came the ending. When we reached the take-out point, three teenagers were checking people in. One of them stopped another group and immediately started asking for names so he could charge them a $75 late fee. Their reservation had also been at noon, and they were delayed because of issues caused by the company, not because they were late. The teenager literally told them that wasn't his problem. Then they started trying to charge our group the same $75 late fee. Absolutely not. After multiple customers complained and the manager was called, they finally admitted we didn't owe anything. The entire situation could have been avoided with basic organization, communication, and customer service. We had 4 adults, 2 older kids, and 2 younger kids and spent nearly $400. For that kind of money, customers shouldn't spend over two hours waiting because a company failed to have enough kayaks available for scheduled reservations. The river was nice. The staff experience was terrible. I've floated many rivers over the years and can honestly say this was the worst-run kayak rental operation I've ever dealt with.

After getting our life vests at the office and driving to the ending point where we would take a van to the starting point, we were told that a thunderstorm was coming and they would not be able to get us off the river if it got bad. It was suggested we return to the office where they would issue us a refund. After turning in our life vests we were told the refund would have to go through their main office and it would take about a week. When the refund did not appear on my next credit card statement I emailed them to request the refund. Two months later I have not seen the refund or had a reply to the email.

We found lots of wildlife and pristine river banks that we were free to explore as all the land on both sides of the river is public. We spent about 3.5 hours on the water and had quick lunch break in the middle at the great park where the ramp is located that is set up with picnic tables, public restrooms and grills! The Stones River company kept in touch with us and were ready at the end of our rental to promptly collect the kayaks. We would highly recommend this company for your kayak rental needs!

We rented one canoe (which came with oars and lifejackets), were led to the endpoint (we chose Houchins Ferry) to park our car, and were then driven with the canoe to our starting point (Dennison Ferry). We canoed around 12 miles of the Green River the first day, camped on Boardcut Island, and then finished the 20-mile trip the following morning. All we had to do at Houchins was leave the canoe, oars, and lifejackets out and make a phone call to Cave Country...so convenient! Best thing about working with Cave Country was their friendly service. They even went so far as to give us a s'mores fixings care package (complete with firestarters, graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate)! We also had some great conversation with their employees, both exchanging stories and getting some great advice for canoeing on the river. I would highly recommend going with Cave Country Canoe if you're thinking of making a trip to Mammoth Cave or the Green River.

We didn't get s'mores like the other reviewer, but we also didn't book a 2 day trip. Just FYI, the National Park Service prohibits consumption or possession of alcohol on the Green River. Fines can be in excess of $500 per adult in the boat. Also, they require that you wear life jackets, not just have them in the boat. Fines are also assessed per person not wearing one. Rangers will tour the river and ticket you for not following the rules. Safety first, Yelpers!

They made my first trip to Burgess Falls amazing. I love their pink theme and the story behind their mascot. The meeting area is easy to find by GPS and there's signs as you get close. Small parking area. After going over the rules, we get on their bus to get to the destination. Kayak training is provided and then you're off. They encouraged us to enjoy the experience and take our time. We never felt rushed. Free to explore at your own leisure. The kayaking part was easy and not taxing. Wildlife present to see. Once you get close to the falls you have to walk about 10 minutes to the falls. Very rocky area. Make sure you have good shoes. I wore water shoes and I'd recommendjust wearing sneakers or those good for trails that you don't mind getting wet because I felt everything in those water shoes. Lol. They had their own challenge of keeping the area clean by collecting trash rhat you can participate in if you wished. At the falls - you got to kayak around or stand in the water and/or under the falls and Tara will take pics of you that she'll later send for free. Amazing shots. Breathtaking falls. It was a blast and refreshing! Once you return back to the starting point they have their own portable potties that you can use and a shed to change your clothes in. Plus, personal care items are available for use. There is a small gift shop too. Everything about the experience was professional from start to finish! I highly recommend you take this tour!

They take care to provide a fun trip while also ensuring the safety of everyone around them. Eddie even helped people from other groups pointing out cool features of the waterfall and allowing people to safety concerns. KAT doesn't rush you to get through your trip like some of the other tours. They make sure you have plenty of time to enjoy at the waterfall. We were able to sit and eat our lunch and also play in the water for over an hour. This is the second time I've been out with them and I'd recommend them again and again.
