These people are the absolute worst. I would not recommend them to anyone. We were told for 3 days that my mother's body would be picked up from the hospital that same day. When I would follow up, I was told they were really busy and would be picking her up the next day. By the time they got around to going to the hospital, she had already been released to the organ donor company. Completely out of Draper's control, the hospital and the organ donor company made major clerical errors to the point that no one was sure where she was. Instead of Drapers going to the hospital to resolve the issue, I was called and told that they couldn't get any answers from the hospital over the phone so I, the grieving daughter, should follow up to find her. I then spent 2 hours losing my mind at the hospital until she was located. Once I did Draper's job for them, they finally picked her up late the next day. When we wanted to see her to verify they had the correct person, we were told they were too busy to get her ready. We were able to make an appt to view her 2 days later. Upon arrival, I asked if she was dressed in the clothes they we had provided several days earlier. We were told once again that they were really busy and if we wanted her dressed, we would need to come back a different day. After everything we had been through, rescheduling wasn't an option so with my insistence, they draped her shirt over top of plastic (she was wrapped like a mummy) with a tacky blanket over. After everything was said and done, I received multiple calls from them in error. Once they asked to speak to my mother and when I explained that it was not possible because she had passed, the lady literally laughed and said "oops, I was looking at the certificate. It's ready for pickup". I received other calls from them for people that I don't even know. They didn't seem notice or understand that my heart dropped to my stomach every time their number popped up on my phone. Getting unnecessary calls from them pulled the grief back to the surface and reopened the wound every time. They were gentle and soft spoken through the entire process but everything out of their mouths was completely unprofessional given the circumstances. We made the choice to purchase a silver pendant with my mother's finger print on it for $275 and we carefully chose what we wanted the inscription to say. We picked up the pendant yesterday and noticed that in addition to the inscription, it also has the word "silver" inscribed on the top and some sort of serial number on the bottom. Same size and font as the main inscription. It's pretty ugly and I assumed it was another mistake. I showed a few coworkers who agreed that it was probably a mistake at the engraver. I called today to question it and was told that they all look like that and no one has ever complained. The lady actually laughed at me. These people are just horrible. Every person I have spoken to, from friends and family to other funeral directors to phone calls from their parent company, have been appalled by the "care" that my family has received through this difficult process. Please do not give them any more business. No other family should have to go through what we have been through. read more

Michelle's customer service was beyond expectations. When my husband passed unexpectedly she helped me to be practical, yet respectful. She has been caring and compassionate every step of the way. She even found ways to help us save money with our limited budget. My only concern is the make up. I know they use a picture to help them but the color was not quite right, and it was actually a little bit scary for my children. All things considered it was a pleasant experience. I have to say myself and my step father were very pleased from begining to end of how accommodating Eric Gonzales was with making arrangements for my mother who had recently just passed. I am so disappointed with the way Draper Mortuary handled my cousin's funeral. I live on the other side of the country, so I couldn't attend in person. Several of us who had planned to watch the funeral via live streaming, were told we could watch it on Draper's FaceBook page. We waited, but nothing was streaming. I called twice after the funeral started and was told they were having technical difficulties. On my second call, they told me they would post it afterwards, and I could view it on FaceBook at a later time. Well, they never posted it! And, when I called two more times to find out when it would be posted, the girl told me someone would call me back. That never happened, either! I am beyond sad about losing my cousin, and now, I have been robbed of any closure. It was a small funeral - maybe they didn't think it was important enough to post. Maybe they didn't think they needed to respond to my inquiries because I live so far away. What a lousy way to treat people! read more

My father passed away, and he had a prepaid cremation plan with another mortuary that Draper had assumed. I wasn't sure what to expect when I went to Draper, but I met with Michelle and the entire process was as smooth as can be. Even though prices had increased dramatically since my father's prepaid plan, Draper covered everything with no additional costs. They were very professional and compassionate, and they never once tried to upsell or nickel and dime me on anything. They took care of all of the arrangements with the cemetery, and even offered to be there at the service if we wanted them there. Any questions I had were immediately answered via phone or e-mail. Please proceed with caution when using Draper Mortuary 811 N. Mountain Ave Ontario, CA 91762. Our Mom paid for her services 7yrs ago for $3995 to Draper. So when our Mom passed away, my sister and I had an appt with Erik to start making the arrangements. We took her paperwork stating she paid in full. He briefly gave his condolences, But was so quick to say that our Mom's contract was 7yrs ago and that the price she paid for at that time did not cover the current costs and that we would have to pay the difference. Which we didn't understand because this is why our Mom paid it so that we didn't have to go through this emotional process. We told him we would like the viewing/services all in 1 day and not in 2 days to ease the heartache and pain of laying our Mom to rest but he kept trying to push us during this emotional process, to do a separate viewing and church ceremony on two different days and the only reason we felt he was so persistent is to charge us for 2 days for the staff's time. We asked for a Friday service and he said it wasn't available that he didn't have another available day until 3 weeks but offered to do a Sat at a cost of an additional $1500! My sister and I were already heart broken and grieving over losing our Mom and this person had no compassion, absolutely heartless and was trying to get us to pay more money we didn't have. He acted like if our Mom only gave him 4 dollars. It breaks my heart to know she must have scraped money from where she can to pay the $3995. We asked for a moment and called Southern California Funeral Service in Chino, where they arranged our Dad's services. We asked them to help us get our Mom's body out of their care and take over making the service arrangements. There was a cost from Draper Mortuary of $595 to release the body to Southern California's care. Which Southern California/Bob handled and Bob also took care of getting the money our Mom paid from Draper. I understand there are costs but you do not have to nickel and dime families during this emotional process but they see you vulnerable and they try to take advantage of families. So please be aware because I had another person tell me that they experienced the same thing with Draper Mortuary. read more

I lost my father in law on Christmas day had called draper to come and take my father in law they told me they would call me back in 24 hour when the did call like they said they couldn't accommodate a time that day and set me up for an apartment the following day we wanted to see our options and found a family owned Mortuary in Chino upon our discussion at Southern California Funeral Service me and the family had decided to go with this option due to the cost difference and Services provided upon decide Southern California called drapers to see what the charge for the transfer of my father in law from his house to there care my mind you my father in law lives 10-15 minute away from there facility. When the call was made to drapers my father in law was in there care a day and a half and when asked about yhe transfer fee they told us $1090 then askes what the break down of that was it came to be about $500+ for the transfer and $495 for a Refrigeration fee when asked to wave refrigeration fee we were told no and had to pay even when told money is hard on my family they then told Southern California that they should give us a discount and just so everyone know they did and also gave us a few things for free to help out if anyone need funeral service go to Southern California Funeral Service in chino ca read more

My experience with this place was not good at all. The customer service is terrible. Staff is indifferent. Most of my messages to staff went unanswered and I had to call back again. I waited over 3 weeks to get the certified death certificate because no one at Draper let me know it was there. They apparently had misplaced it and failed to log it in. I really NEEDED that document, too. I ordered a second certified death certificate and I'm STILL waiting for that one to be mailed and it's been weeks. When I finally received the first certified death certificate from Draper there was enclosed an invitation for ME to buy burial insurance from them. WHAT?? Someone close to me has just DIED and they are trying to sell me a plot????? Unbelievable. Tacky beyond words. Don't go to Draper. Find another mortuary that at least has competent and compassionate staff and doesn't try to make money from grieving survivors. read more

Run from this place! We cannot tell you how poorly coordinated this company is, and so sad, when trying to mourn. They gave little to no schedule, checklist and/or examples of the necessary items that are needed to be done to prep for services. When given an unexpected rule at the moment of services (likely because of the virus), they did not advocate at the place of worship on behalf of the family. More importantly they did nothing to communicate to the grievers already with a program in hand at the place of worship. Imagine, all the grievers are expecting the program they were handed to, to start, to begin, in memory of our loved one, and draper does NOTHING to explain to the mourners of the change, so grievers leave worship not knowing that the program (so awkward) was going to be performed at the memorial park.
