Today was my first visit to this salon. It has a lovely vintage feel and the staff was very welcoming asking me if I would like a hot or cold beverage (they have a selection of teas for clients to choose from). I arrived early and was not disappointed with the abundance and selection of magazines to keep me entertained while I waited. I absolutely love that this salon is located in an historic house, as a new englander I really appreciate the preservation and repurposing of old structures instead of tearing them down for new construction. I have long curly hair and asked to be scheduled with a stylist who was skilled at cutting curly hair. My appointment was with Rebecca Morin. She took the time with me at the start of the appointment to discuss the kind of cut I was looking for, how I wear my hair (curly or straight), and what I thought I was looking for. I told her this: "my hair looks blah, I'd love to give it a different look, but not loose the length and I am not sure what style would do that. Rebecca knew exactly what to do and we had a lovely chat while she snipped and styled my hair into exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Rebecca! I will certainly be returning to this local salon for hair and other services I may need for prettying and primping. Drapoel owner and stylist Darlene is an incredibly down to earth person with great energy! As soon as you walk in the salon you feel comfortable with the eclectic and posh environment she has created from her artistic flair which spills over into her hair design and great eye for color! . I never feel rushed, however she patiently takes the time to talk with me about expectations i may have and along with her recommendations as well. Moving to a different place makes it difficult to find the "right" hair salon. Coming to drapoel, I was welcomed and made to feel so at home. Not only has Darlene done an amazing job on my hair, but she has made me feel so comfortable like talking to an old friend. On the business side, there are always new things to discover at the salon. Beautiful handmade items as well as hair products are plenty and great for picking up thoughtful gifts for yourself or someone else. I had been a previous client of Sarah's before she made the switch from what seemed like a toxic work environment to Drapoel Salon, a chic, eccentric salon with a great welcoming vibe. I can tell how much happier she is there after my first appointment at the new work place! I was greeted by both Sarah and the salon owner, Darlene (who was amazingly hospitable when it came to the pounding headache I had that day, got me Advil and a water as soon as I mentioned my headache). Sarah is very good to her clients as well, she gets to know you, is easy to converse with, and will never do anything that may be harmful to your hair. I had an appointment with Chloe and she was amazing. She is super friendly and passionate about her job. She made sure to let me know each step of the process and how long that would take. She cut and colored my hair exactly like I wanted. She gave me her opinion on my hair which I value in a stylist. All in all I would gladly go back and see her again. Chloe did a phenomenal job on my hair! It is stunning! I moved to the area during the pandemic, so I had not had a chance to find a new stylist yet. An upcoming vacation to Greece meant I really needed to get in. Like most people, I was a tad nervous seeing a new stylist (I had been with mine for years). I am happy I gave Chloe a chance. I had an idea of what I wanted but was having some issues verbalizing it. Chloe asked detailed questions and started her magic. When she was finished, I left with the perfect hair coloring and my nice long layers. I felt she really took what I had said to her to heart in creating the look for my hair. I dyed my hair black and was itching to go back to blonde. Most hair stylists would be too afraid to dye my black hair, but Jess was up for the challenge. To begin the process, she started with a strand test to check the health of my hair. She made my hair health a priority and I love that! She came in early one Saturday morning and worked on my hair for 5+ hours just to get the results I wanted. I'm so lucky to have found Jess!! I really wish there was a way to give half stars, because this would probably be about a 2.5. My review is based on a pedicure I had recently at this salon. I have never been to this salon previously, and I cannot speak to any hair services offered. However, I was looking to find a salon closer to home. Although I have a nail and pedicure place that I continue to hold other salons up to as a point of comparison, I really don't want to have to drive half an hour there and back each time that I want a service. My first impression of drapoel was fair. The front lobby had some very comfortable furniture, but I could not get past the ghastly paint color. Maybe because it was night and there wasn't any sunlight to brighten up the salon, but the walls appeared to be a mustard color and it was hideous. It also made everything appear that much smaller. Given the sponging technique used for the paint, it also made things look a bit dated and stale. Samantha came out to greet me and she was very friendly and personable. The pedicure and nail services are upstairs, and as I walked through the salon I was astounded by just how rich every paint color was that was selected. If the wall color was red, it was a very bold red. If a wall was a coffee color, you knew it was the deepest shade on the color swatch from Home Depot. The salon seems relatively small, and the room for nails was very narrow. Accented by dark colors it made everything seem that much smaller. As we walked upstairs to the pedicure room, I was hit with the overwhelming scent of poor acrylic nail products most often found in the nail salons in malls. Perhaps there are some people who do not mind this scent. I am not one of these people. Even 45 minutes into my pedicure I could still smell this and it was giving me a headache. Perhaps the thing that was most surprising to me was that there was not a pedicure chair with massaging jets in the foot basin. Instead Samantha used a large bucket for clients to soak in. And I realize that they perhaps have not had an opportunity to build up this part of their business, but as a client I have no interest in going back if this is not something that is offered. Samantha did an OK job? I have never had someone give me a pedicure and cut down the sides of my toenails so that the nails round down at the corners. Had I realized this was how she shaped I would have said something prior to her starting my services that I did not like this, but I didn't realize she was doing this until she cut down the side of one of my toe nails and she pulled the nail she had just cut from my foot in such a way that it felt like someone was pulling out a hangnail. It did not feel good at all and left me worried that I would get ingrown nails as a result of this shaping. I really wish that I could rate this service higher because Samantha was a really nice person and I enjoyed our conversation during my appointment. Outside of the nail shaping it wasn't a bad appointment. But there is something about the salon in combination with this that left a lot to be desired. Additionally I don't know that this would be a convenient salon for nail services for many clients as there are no Friday or Saturday hours. Although I've been entertaining the idea of putting a full set of acrylics back on, I would be reluctant to do that at this salon as she is the only nail technician, and additionally her hours are very limited. read more

Kendall is absolutely amazing! Not only is she talented, but she is incredibly knowledgeable about products, skin, and lashes. She's definitely the most gentle, kind, and understanding esthetician I've been to - and the most professional. She will listen to your concerns and preferences and will make sure you're comfortably at ease. My lashes consistently look amazing and natural, and the products she uses (especially the glue) is every lash-lovers dream... you don't have to worry about red, runny eyes or excessive glue that damages lashes/results in crazy fallout here! I've even had strangers and doctors comment on how beautiful and flawless my lashes are, and none of them believe me when I tell them they're extensions. Plus, her salon area is always clean and inviting, and the rest of the Drapoel salon is welcoming, stylish, and cozy with very friendly that happily greet every customer. A small boutique salon like Drapoel is THE place for excellent, genuine service. read more

The massage therapist Deb is amazing!! I suffer from chronic back/neck pain and for many years i have lived with loss of feeling in my arm and leg. I have tried PT and chiropractors over the last 10 years and I have never felt a huge relief. I stumbled across this spa when picking up breakfast and thought it might be worth a try. I am so thankful for that i made that call to schedule my appointment. After just one 90 min session I no longer have tingling in my right leg and feel relief in my back. For once I actually feel that I am getting closer to being pain free. I can not thank Deb enough for taking the time to listen to my long list of issues with my back, neck, arm and leg. She was great at explaining the best way to treat and checked in with me throughout the massage to make sure the pressure was just right. I have had several massages throughout the years at different places and I have never had such personalized treatment and such great results. It had been awhile since I had gotten my hair done. My last experience at another salon didn't go as well as I had hoped, so I was a little scarred. But my experience at Drapoel was the complete opposite! Jess listened to what I was hoping to achieve and she absolutely nailed it. I am a super picky person when it comes to getting my hair done. So much so that I often will not go for a very long time and have very rarely returned to the same place twice. Last year I was about to do something drastic and go from long hair to a super short asymmetrical cut. To say I was nervous would have been an understatement. For the first time ever I felt like a stylist totally understood what I was saying and she executed what I wanted beyond my imagination. The salon is quaint, nicely decorated but not stuffy and sort of feels like home. All of the staff seems to get along which is not something you see at a lot of salons. What's more I recently brought my daughter to get an ombre and they were really awesome with her. Overall I freakin' love this place. Not overly priced (last time I went somewhere for color and a cut it was almost $200... my daughters was $82.) Totally recommend. I've been to other places in Merrimack, Nashua and Manchester and they just don't stack up. read more

Unfortunately I can't review their services, but I can say that when I went in recently to get an eyebrow wax, I was very unimpressed. I walked in and there was no one at the reception counter so I rang the bell and stood there for at least 5 minutes before anyone came to the front. I was told I'd have to wait 15-20 minutes before anyone could do a wax, which is not a long time to wait, except for when your waiting that long for a 5 minute procedure. I purposely went in in the middle of the day to avoid hitting at a busy time, but that didn't work out. I only saw the 1 woman and there appeared to only be 1 other person working in the large salon... perhaps understaffed? Either way, I won't be going back. read more

They have some cute, handmade jewelery for sale (I didn't buy any but its good to know its their for a last minute unique gift). I was looking for a local place that could work with my hectic schedule. The owner ALWAYS fits me in without ever making me feel rushed. The staff is fun and friendly and I never feel out of place. I was gun shy after trying another salon in Merrimack that butchered my hair, saying they knew what I wanted more than I did. I was put right at ease at Drapoel and felt like they really listened to me. I love this place! read more

I am one of Sadie's clients and I LOVE Drapoel. The salon is warm and inviting and is reall ypunched up by the retro Marilyn vibe and the comfy seating out front. The girls that work the salon are always very friendly and nice. You can tell that their clients love their individual stylists because they are always chattering away with one another. Clients/Stylists are more like friends than anything else. Conversations seem to easily pick up where they left off a month earlier at the client's previous appointment. I am always offered a drink when I come in to see Sadie. Whenever I get my hair done, I get a ton of comments on how nice my hair looks! I have tried a number of other salons and they always seemed too trendy for me or were just really impersonal. Sadie is even kind enough to send me a reminder text message the day before my appointment. This place hits the mark and I will continue to be a loyal client! read more
