Gorgeous garden/patio area! Service was friendly! Not a huge selection of wines and no Sauvignon blanc offered. Bread and butter was good.

I like this place a lot! I have visited the Golden Age Location in Mountain Brook and really enjoyed. I been looking forward to trying this location as well and finally made a visit. Upon arrival... look quick or you will miss it lol! But once you realize it is the cutest quaint location that makes you feel as if you have steps outside of downtown into an out of town experience! The beautiful arrival gate is a good photo opp and they have menus place for you to not miss. The drinks are ordered at the bar and offered fast service with no wait. It's plenty of seating options from a two seater to a bigger parties. I found me a new red wine that was so good! The hubby went with a bar which he said it wasn't his favorite but still enjoyed. I notice some had food but since we just finished dinner we didn't try any of the selections. If you looking for a cute date night place or even to meet up with some friends, I would recommend you give it a try!

A little sip of Europe in Birmingham. Duck into this little alley right next to Bayonet for an amazing assortment of wines and small plates. I had a glass of the orange wine -- I'm on a journey to discover natural wines, and this is the place! Golden Age sells bottles at their Mountain Brook Village location, so check that out if you're wanting to see the full selection. I came in for a glass of wine while we waiting for our table to be ready at Bayonet next door. Service is quick and the shady, sting-lit, adorable courtyard is gorgeous. I will definitely be back to try out these small plates. If you have burrata on the menu, expect me to burr-ow my way in. Golden Age is a great addition to Birmingham's downtown scene. Place to check it out before or after dining at one of the restaurants nearby! I'm sure that the outdoor space is still comfortable in the heat of summer. They also offer flights of wine if you want to try a few different things!

The Golden age wine garden is spectacular! I really enjoyed my glass of orange wine. It was quite refreshing in this hot Alabama summer heat! The flavor was really crisp and refreshing. The staff were all friendly and eager to assist. You place your order at the bar and find a nice cozy seat in the garden; preferably near a fan! There was a DJ spinning some nice tunes during my weekday visit. It's definitely a vibe and I highly recommend. They also have a food menu if you need some vittles with your drink. Cheers!

It doesn't get better than the wine garden on a sunny, spring day! The location between buildings blocks the wind while still giving you the sunshine! Great, fast service as well. We will definitely be back - especially on a crisp spring day!

I attended their grand opening on Saturday. The weather was perfect that day. Golden Age Wine Garden is a beautiful outdoor space in an alley on 2nd avenue. The staff was great and helped me select a delicious Bordeaux. They have a small food menu. I didn't see a brick and mortar, I think it's just outside seating. So if the weather is nice, go for it!

Such a charming little spot to grab a drink before dinner! It feels like a cozy, romantic alcove--perfect for a date or a relaxed evening with friends. The wine selection is excellent, and you can even enjoy a tasting flight to try a bit of everything. The bartenders were extremely friendly and helpful when choosing a wine.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and answered all my questions. And also was understanding when I had to change the date due to the weather. I love that they had a parking lot. Tip: Don't scan the barcode to pay til you are inside. They will validate your tix! Easy process!! The space was cozy & inviting. To our surprise from 3:00-5:00pm on Saturdays they offer a pre-selected wine flights & a small plate for $20. We got to try wines from Spain/Portugal! I will definitely be visiting again!!

As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by shelves of wines, charcuterie boards, and gourmet accompaniments, making it a fun place to browse before your meal. Unfortunately, my first impression of the service wasn't the strongest. When I approached the host stand, I was greeted with, "What do you want?" While it may have been an off moment or simply a poor choice of words, it didn't feel particularly welcoming. Since I was standing at the host stand in the dining area, I assumed it would be clear that I was there to eat. I was also initially directed toward the bar, despite it being nearly full and located in a busy area where staff were constantly moving through. Since I was dining solo and wanted a more relaxed experience, I asked about patio seating instead, and thankfully that was available. Once seated, my experience improved considerably. My server struck the perfect balance between being attentive and giving me space to enjoy my meal. Since it was my first visit, I had several questions about the menu, and he was knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely happy to offer recommendations. I decided to order one of the daily specials along with a build-your-own charcuterie board and a Kir Royale to drink. The Heirloom Tomato Salad was an excellent choice. It was fresh, vibrant, and had a flavor profile that set it apart from the many tomato salads I've had before. It's the kind of seasonal special I'd happily order again. For my charcuterie board, I selected Soppressata, Prosciutto, and Gin & Juice for the meats, along with Campo de Montalbán and Midnight Moon cheeses. Everything paired beautifully with the accompanying bread, nuts, and garnishes. Each bite felt thoughtfully curated, and it made for a leisurely meal that encouraged slowing down and savoring each combination. The Kir Royale was equally enjoyable--light, bubbly, and refreshing. It complemented the charcuterie perfectly and is an easy recommendation if you're looking for a celebratory cocktail. One of my favorite parts of the visit was the patio. It was the perfect place to enjoy Birmingham's beautiful weather while people-watching and taking in the neighborhood. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, making it easy to linger over the meal. Before leaving, I had one more interaction with the hostess that left me a bit puzzled. Since I was dining alone, I took my belongings with me when I went to the restroom after letting my server know where I was headed and asking him to bring my check. As I walked back, the hostess commented, "I thought you had gone." While she may not have intended anything by it, the remark came across as though she assumed I had left without paying, which made for another awkward interaction. I settled my bill at the front counter without issue, but it reinforced my initial impression of the hospitality at the host stand. Overall, I'd rate Red or White an **8/10**. The food, drinks, patio, and service from my server made for a very enjoyable experience, and I would absolutely return for another charcuterie board and cocktail. The only thing holding this visit back from earning a higher rating was my experience with the hostess. Hospitality begins the moment a guest walks through the door, and small interactions can have a lasting impact. Even so, the quality of the food and atmosphere makes this a spot I'd happily visit again.

We thoroughly toured the list of French wines, imbibed on a couple of their yummy cocktails (my friend loves the "Last Word"). Service was, of course, fantastic. The location is one of the most quaint and vibey in town (Morris Ave) and the food is certainly up to snuff. We split the famous potato appetizer and I had the half chicken for entree. Both outstanding.

We were able to make a reservation for inside dining which I liked because it was a hot June Alabama day, but I would have preferred outside because it was so loud inside, there was no sound suppression, and the tables were very close together. The outside patio was nice and covered. Next time I will request to sit outside. We started with the sourdough bread which I highly recommend! There was enough pieces to have one while you waited for your dinner, and to save one to eat with your dinner. My husband ordered the deviled eggs and really enjoyed them. For our entree, we shared the roasted chicken. It was a half chicken with lemon, garlic, shallots and potato gratin. It was plenty for both of us. We even had leftovers. This is probably because of the appetizers and we had stopped for drinks at Cayo Coco before dinner. We usually skip dessert, but my husband really wanted to try the chocolate custard, bittersweet chocolate custard with chantilly cream. The presentation was beautiful. I had a couple of bites and it also tasted amazing. Our waiter recommended a dessert wine that paired with the custard. He let us try a couple of sips, and the sweet fruitiness really made a difference. The service was amazing. We will definitely be back.
