More like Nightmare Inn. I do not recommend this place. Very strange vibes! When settling in we opened the windows and David, the husband, came in and yelled that he had purposefully warmed up the space for us and told us to close the windows. He also refused to give us keys and while we were away came into our unit and turned off the TV we left on for our dog. I felt very unsafe at night. There is a door to the kitchen that only locks on the other side and I kept seeing him busting in and murdering us in our sleep. Breakfast was included and it was another painful experience. It was old and gross and full of cat hairs. I lied and said we didn't eat breakfast so that we could get the hell out of there. Look for places on VRBO and save yourself. read more

If your under the age of 65 you have NO business here. We were last min and looking for a place to stay on our way back up from CA to WA. The photos looked decent enough so we booked it sight unseen. We get there and the hilarious horror show began. The whole place smells of old hoarder cat lady. The place is FILLED to the brim of trinkets and dolls. Just imagine your 80 year old grandmothers house and you get the picture. Our PINK room actually jingled with every step we took. You felt like you had to whisper the whole time you were there because the walls were so paper thin.. So FORGET about having sex in this place. We woke up to the smell of breakfast cooking..... AT 11PM!!! So were thinking, oh ok these people just like their breakfast for dinner... NOPE they were making our breakfast the night before!!! We woke up and tip toed down stairs to a doily ridden breakfast table that looked of something from Alice in wonderland if the mad hatter was an 80 year old cat lady. Our first "course" was a fruit cup in a dish. Not a fresh cup a fruit, but fruit, from a can. Mine had a hair in it (gross). I pushed it aside and waited for our waffles, bacon and eggs... Which was made the previous night!!! The waffle was gritty soft bland and gross.The eggs were EASILY the worst eggs i've ever had in my life, i would compare them to a wet gummy bear. The strawberries and whip were most likely the only thing eatable on the plate my g/f and i scooted our food around to pretend like we ate some of it and b-lined it to the door. We sat in our car laughing in horror and couldnt stop talking about this place. I would give this place a perfect star rating simply because im sure i'll be telling this story for YEARS to come. But honestly whole heartedly if you're under the age of 65 just keep driving until you get to portland! read more

I read reviews about this place on Trip Advisor which prompted me to stay here. We were able to rent the house adjacent to the bed and breakfast, the upstairs part. It is very kitschy! The breakfast varied from day to day. One morning it was fruit compote with eggs benedict. The next day it was strawberry waffles. What I liked the most was the location. Quite nice the hostess who accepted our request since most hotels nearby are full and packed. Nobody would notice this small inn. It's quite scary at night but for sure know that there are other people staying there. It's close by bars and the Main Street for food and such. Parking is great always a spot out front. I checked for bugs or bed bugs there is none thank goodness. Fairly priced. Only downside of this since it's an old house the floors are creeky when the upstairs walk. My husband and I made a reservation with the Dream Inn because of it's beautiful curb appeal. The woman checking us in was very kind and welcoming. However, I STRONGLY recommend NOT staying here. Our room was filled with ants (baseboards, side tables, bathroom, etc). After telling the woman this, she was very understanding about refunding our reservation. But then, the "housekeeper" who apparently lives and runs the Inn too, came in accusing us of lying. After showing him the ants, he started mocking us for not being able to handle a few ants. He then ordered us out of the house and asked us to take our trash with us. The confrontation was so intense that I ended up having to call the cops for fear he would get physical. For the sake of safety, I would not recommend sleeping under the same roof as this man. read more

We made a quick stop in Mt. Shasta on the homeward leg of long road trip. I chose the town of Mt. Shasta because of it's location, and ended up booking a room at the Dream Inn when another B&B was full. We approached our stay with average expectation and were pleasantly surprised. Our room was spacious and comfortable. The lack of a TV seemed odd, but I don't consider that a flaw. To save a little money, we opted for one of the upstairs bedrooms that shared a common bathroom, and that worked just fine for us. I found the general decor to be very B&B frilly; not how I'd decorate my home, but nice enough in context. The two inn keepers are a pair of business partners. David greeted us and got us settled into our room. He's was very chatty and warm. We had a common interest in gardening, so we had plenty to talk about. I'm not sure I ever caught the name of the lady inn keeper. I spoke with her on the phone a couple times, and she seemed a bit abrupt. In person she was polite and a bit reserved, but kind as she served us breakfast in the morning. Once we started chatting about some favorite plants in the garden, she opened up a bit. We were only there one night, so I can't attest to all their breakfast menu, but our breakfast tostatas were very good. Lots of veggies, cheese, eggs, and beans over a toasted flour tortilla. We also had fruit, juice and coffee. I thought the coffee was a little weak, but I've had worse in fancier places. The grounds surrounding the Inn are a very well kept garden, full of bright flowers and birds. I highly recommend taking your morning coffee outside to enjoy the garden, if time and weather permit. The town of Mt. Shasta is lovely, with shops and restaurants, and amazing mountains as a backdrop. We ate dinner at the Trinity Cafe and it was worth every penny! I'd like to come back to the Dream Inn sometime, to see more of the town and do some local hiking. All in all, it was a nice stop and well priced. read more

I have never been to a bed and breakfast before so I really didn't carry any expectations. With all the interesting and dated furniture and decorations it really made our stay comfortable. Our host, David, was as nice and as accommodating as can be. The whole B&B location was just perfect.... just on the other street of the downtown area and walking distance to the grocery store....and pizza place. It really didn't bother us that doors were kept unlocked and there were no TVs in the room... there was an old hitachi in the pueblo house with a VCR plugged into it but we didn't even use it.... The free wifi was a good plus.... Our group opted out of the breakfast but I was able to catch a few other guests enjoying a morning meal of fresh grapefruit, eggs, bacon and pancakes... it was like coming downstairs to your mom cooking.... you could smell the aroma of a fresh cook meal halfway down the hall... I'm definitely a fan of this place and the general area of the city.... Will return for future stays. read more

First, a warning (and the reason I gave this inn a low mark): the hostess plainly stated (after we got there) that she does not lock the front door to the inn. I now see that another reviewer has complained about this. It just seemed odd that management would fail to be more invested in the safety of their patrons, and their patrons' personal belongings. Eventually they may be staring at a lawsuit. Not sure why they risk that either. To be fair, the door to our bedroom had a lock on it, which helped a little, and they have a dog with a strong bark. The hostess was cordial and reserved. Her partner was warm and helpful. She helped us find some local waterfalls, which was most gracious of her. The location is very good; near stores, restaurants and other businesses. The room we stayed in was clean and well-kept. The hostess is clearly very talented at interior decoration: lots of photographs, antiques, quaint furniture, etc ... all of which added to the quality of our visit. The room we were in was small but pleasant. The heat (radiator) worked well, which was terrific considering how cold it can get during the winter, around Mount Shasta. At least for the room we chose, we needed to go down the hall to use the bathroom/shower, which was a little inconvenient. Breakfast was basic but good (mushroom omelette, a small piece of sausage, coffee, and juice). I would stay here again if management decided to start a normal, common sense policy of locking its doors. read more

This is a great B&B in the Mount Shasta area. It's right in town and a close drive to the Mountain and hiking. It's perfectly clean, pet friendly and has a gorgeous garden filled with blooming roses. My family and I were impressed! read more

We stayed one night at this amazingly nostalgic B&B! If you're looking for warm, cozy and quiet this is the place to be. Loved this place. We stayed in Suite 1. The place is surrounded by a beautiful garden with bright flowers and is very well decorated. Our room was very cozy and the living room had a bar as well albeit with no drinks which is okay. The views from the bedroom were great. The bathroom was well stocked. We had breakfast at 8 in the morning and it was a very healthy meal of Apple juice, watermelon, some berries and a crispy taco filled with fresh veggies and eggs. The owners were very sweet and I would definitely recommend this place if you are ever in Mt Shasta. read more

We received a warm greeting and were informed right away that our suite that opened to the street would not be locked. The suite was comfortable and spacious. The heat had not been turned on and it warmed up in a couple of hours. We chose the suite so we would have a private bath room with a tub and a kitchen. The bathroom was clean and comfortable. The bathroom and shower only fit one person at a time. Twice the hot water ran out when we were using the shower. The basics are supplied-hand soap, toilet paper, clean towels. The kitchen had stove, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher. It was stocked with plates, glasses and a coffee pot. The first morning breakfast consisted of half a grapefruit with a single raspberry, scrambled eggs, one slice of bacon, and four small pancakes with strawberries and whip cream from a can. A glass of juice was waiting on the table and very average coffee was poured when the hostess was available. The food had been cooked earlier and had been waiting in the oven until we arrived. The very friendly chocolate lab spent the entire breakfast at our side. The next morning, after a bowl of cubed honeydew melon an eggs benedict type dish was served. It had a base of soggy cinnamon raisin toast with sauteed mushrooms, ham, tomato, hard poached egg and a drizzle of hollandaise on top. There were also a couple spears of asparagus and a slice of avocado for good measure. We brought our own water this morning and went to a local cafe for coffee after breakfast. Apple sauce with a canned peach greeted us the next morning with cheese pizza, scrambled eggs, frozen hash browns and a slice of bacon. The company was nice and we enjoyed chatting with other guests while we made our way through another unpleasant breakfast. We skipped breakfast the next day because I just couldn't face the food and the hostess's tendency to comment on how much we were eating or not. The suite was very comfortable and clean. We will, however, be staying someplace else next time. read more

My boyfriend and I stayed in Bedroom #1 which features an absurd amount of crystal and lacey things, but has an awesome clawfoot bathtub. The room was comfortable, and heater worked very well and the room was well lit in the morning, with many floor to ceiling windows. The owner was kind of rude, but the caretaker and large black lab were friendly. Breakfast was good but nothing special and is served in a large dining area where we met with other guests. The wifi worked well. The drawback was there is absolutely nowhere to put anything down in the common area due to the overabundance of knickknacks. read more

How could you not love this place?! The Dream Inn is the quaint and unique inn I hoped it would be. It couldn't be located in a more convenient place in this beautiful town and it is affordable. The hostess is very helpful and knowledgable about the area. I enjoyed the breakfast shared with the other guests around the big dining table with the other guests. Being vegetarian, I was also happy that the breakfast served was vegetarian and very delicious. The town of Mount Shasta is like a dream. Instead she came back with a candle holder full of little candiles!! That lighted my heart.. We had a terrific apartment with 2 bedrooms and both had kingsize beds with a Jack and Jill bathroom connecting them. Separate living room & kitchen! A very nice breakfast of Yogurt with fruit, then eggs benedict with asparagus & hashbrowns. It has an amazing garden with several water features. The only reason I didn't give it a higher rating is because I have stayed at some very luxurious places and this one is decorated like grandma's place. Very comfortable and old-fashioned. Not bad, just not modern. I would stay there again if I were to be back in the Mt. Shasta area. read more

I have been here twice, the first time by happy accident and the second time made a special trip after "dreaming" about it all winter long. I rented "Suite #2," a lovely two bedroom apartment with a full kitchen and living room decorated in "Americana." Last time I rented Suite #1, which has a king-sized bed also and a pullout sofa in the mini-kitchen /living area. My bedroom had a view of Mt. Shasta, and we heard the pleasant sound of trains passing through the mountains. Lonna is super accommodating and sent me a photo of her new kitten when I made the (last minute) reservation. Her place is dog friendly- her dog Leon rambles about the place as well and she encouraged me to bring down my dog for a "play date." It's amazingly fair-priced; you would get less for more anywhere else. Beds are very comfortable and king-sized. The place is surrounded by her well-tended gardens, with places to sit, a gazebo to have breakfast in, fountains, and roses. Lonna's breakfasts are beautiful, she always starts with fruit and then you might have omelettes, salads, smoked salmon, each breakfast a work of art. Behind the place is a lovely conservancy park to take in the sunset with the majestic mountain rising above you. Lake Siskiyou and Stewart Hot Springs are both just a few minutes away, as well as a multitude of hiking trails, McCloud River with three waterfalls, nice restaurants (Lily's has an amazing short rib) and a groovy, cheap thrift store. There is a nice small supermarket a block away as well (ask Lonna), cheaper than the Ray's which has everything but is expensive. The whole town is dog-friendly and nothing is far away. A magical place in a wonderful small town. I will definitely go back as soon as I can. read more

I normally wouldn't write a review for hotels, but my stay at Dream Inn was so great that I felt compelled to share my experience there with potential guests as this place is NOT for everyone. If you are looking for modern amenities and/or soundproof walls, PLEASE DO NOT CHOOSE THIS PLACE as they are not available. Having said that, I must say that my first stay at Dream Inn was one of the most reparative experiences in my life. The place was beautifully and meticulously decorated, David and Lana were very friendly yet respectful of the privacy and personal space of me and my wife with just the right touch, and Lana was incredibly creative with her deliciously nutritious breakfast. The other guests there were also very friendly, which made our experience there all the more wonderful. You don't have to be over age 65 to enjoy this place. We are pretty sure that we will choose this place again when we come back to Mt. Shasta, and I hope you would enjoy your stay at Dream Inn as well. read more

Lana and David...the finest innkeepers! My car broke down just outside of Dunsmuir this weekend and we had to spend the night in Mt. Shasta. Dream Inn took exceptional care of us, letting us stay a little longer than check out and giving us a lift back to the mechanic shop in town. Great room, great food and wonderful humanity! Lovely comfortable inn. Kitchy decorations Are lovingly collected and very interesting. Located in a a small town that is a slice of Americana. The beds are comfortable, but the best part is the backyard garden. It is full of roses and petunias and interesting garden art. It includes a gazebo and lots of seating areas. Perfect for a glass of wine in the evening or herbal tea in the day time. The lovely sound of delicate windchimes, the breeze in the trees, crickets and birds is very soothing. I wish I had taken the time to review Yelp comments before booking this place. If I had I definitely would have kept looking. So hopefully the next potential guest will just keep moving on. First the positive: Cute and charming exterior, located very close to town within walking distance. Easy parking out front. Now the negatives and there are many. Open the front door and you are immediately assaulted by the horrible smell of cat pee or old dead fish permeating the entire bottom floor. The house is covered with furnishings from gone with the wind and it appears the owner has never met a craft fair she didn't like. Our bedroom was upstairs and was good sized. Luckily the nasty smell did not make its way up to the second floor. The bed was extremely hard and difficult to get comfortable on. I tossed and turned all night having nightmares about the cat pee. My early morning shower was even worse. It is a shared bathroom with the other guests. When I opened the shower door I was horrified by the large amount of black hair on the bottom of the shower pan. I got a towel and wiped it out before getting in. The hair on the bottom was obviously clogged in the drain as well causing the water to back up over your feet. I was slipping and sliding around in the shower obviously due to other peoples body oil that never made it down the drain. It is hands down the worst place I have ever stayed. My husband and I left at 6:00am in the morning as soon as the sun came up and never went back. As far as waiting for the included breakfast....no thanks. read more

I don't quite understand what these haters are fussing about. Or perhaps the owners read the bad reviews and have addressed the problems. This place is pretty awesome. Very Clean. The main house is heavily decorated and has lots of character. Its close to downtown. Friendly hosts that are not in your face. They neaten our rooms and refreshed our towels when we were enjoying our breakfast. Breakfast was a healthy salad. And my favorite part was The beautiful and spacious garden! read more

What an amazing experience for me to have with my daughter! Flew into LA to see her for a week and we rented a car and drove up the PCH to Mount Shasta. Lana had the door open for us when we got there at midnight. Breakfast in the gazebo the next morning and we were in heaven!! Literally in heaven nearly!! Mount Shasta is incredible and this stay was fantastic!!! Not used to hiking, we were sore that night and the big claw foot tub to soak in was a delight!!! Lana gave me some local rocks for my collection NOT from a store and I can't wait to go back!!!!!!!! read more

We just returned from a short trip to Mt Shasta. I dragged my wife up to the area on our Anniversary so that I could ride the Shasta Summit Super Century. To sweeten the deal for her I booked a B and B rather than a Hotel. Good choice! We were wishing we could have stayed longer. The room was quaint, the bed was comfortable, the cast iron tub was well, perfect. Our hosts were more than helpful and very friendly and accomodating. The location was perfect, and the grounds were beautiful. We will be back. read more

My friend is a mountaineer and loves to come to Shasta during the winter time. Me on the other hand, love coming to the snow, but always like the luxury to shower. We both came upon this Bed and Breakfast when one of us got really sick and needed to come down the mountain earlier than expected. So, we checked out some nearby hotels and found the Dream Inn, and I'm so glad we did. I am in my 20's and really do adore this place. I think that most people in their 20's are not used to staying in these kinds of places and have different expectations, but I really do love this place. Though I do have to admit that the first time I walked in I was a bit creeped out. But just realized that they their place is set up to be like a Victorian-styled house. It's pretty cool to see all the antiques they have accumulated. Lana and David are the partners who own this Inn and they are very nice and welcoming. They have a great dog, Leon, as well.(Pet friendly= major plus!!!) I feel like if you are looking for a place to stay to really complete your "Mt. Shasta Experience", this would be the place to go! And Lana makes really delicious breakfast!!! So that's a super super plus!!! read more
