I have never been to McCloud before, but was looking for something in the mountains with outdoor activities. I found this little and quiet town in my search. In that search I located this lodge. I was kind of leery as I thought it might have been on a main road. Well, it's not! It's on a side street off the main roadway. We booked cabin #7. Cabin #7 faces the roadway where the parking lot is. Believe it or not, we could not hear people in the parking lot. Cabin #7 is two floors. On the first floor there is the only bathroom, a small kitchenette area, and a king bed. Upstairs there are two extremely comfortable queen beds! Literally the most comfortable bed I've slept in! The only draw back was the people sharing the adjacent wall. I believe their stairs are located where ours were in the cabin because we could hear them running up and down it all night. Once they went to bed it wasn't an issue. This Lodge is a self check in and out which was nice! Easy to do! The lodge is close to everything! McCloud Lake was fun for kayaking and McCloud Falls were right up the roadway. Highly recommend breakfast at White Mountain Cafe and dinner at Axe & Rose Brew house. We will be coming back and staying here again. read more

We loved our stay at Shasta View Lodge. Check in was super easy. Our cabin was so cute, beds comfy. It felt rustic and modern at the same time. It had a nice mini kitchen. My son really enjoyed having his morning coffee on the porch. The grounds are very peaceful and inviting. But the most awesome thing for us was the stunning view of Mt Shasta from virtually everywhere. The Shasta View really lives up to its name. We would definitely stay there again. read more

I recently went to a wedding there but stayed at a different location in McCloud. Mostly all I saw was the big bar and serving area which was very nice.. My niece and the wedding party stayed there for a couple of days and they enjoyed the rooms. read more

We had rooms 3 and 6. 6 is the two story family unit. Both rooms were wonderful! Air conditioning and ceiling fans (so necessary during our stay) worked very well. The beds were sooo comfortable! The manager, Jill (and her husband) were friendly and helpful and really made us feel welcome. Small refrigerator and microwave in the room with some plates and silverware. Lots of ammenities. The view from the back patio is gorgeous. It's too bad that the restaurant isn't open. The owner is selling this lodge. I hope someone buys it and reopens the restaurant because we would love to come back and I'm down for the whole package! read more

Pleasant surprise to find this lodge in small town McCloud. Check in via email instruction was unusual for us but worked just fine. Our cabin #1 was very spacious and cozy and had everything we needed. We really appreciated the coffeemaker, pods annd half annd half! Overall it was very quiet and shared only one wall with cabin #2. read more

Our bathroom door got locked with nobody inside on long weekend night and Angela the lodge staff helped us with a prompt service when no handyman was around. This review is for the restaurant only since we did not stay at the lodge. If you did not know that there was a restaurant here, you would miss it as it is not clearly evident but I highly recommend this eatery. The indoor portion of this place is not real inviting as it is simply an older looking place in fitting in with the area. There is a bar and a coin-operated pool table. Tables are spread some distance apart so they could easily fit many more into the room. However, it is easy to carry on a conversation without being overheard. Once you get out to the patio, that's when the charm begins. The patio is rather large and, like the indoor area, tables are placed a good distance from each other. There is a great view of Mount Shasta. The food was very good. I had a shrimp louie salad that was enjoyable, with plenty of shrimp. Others had eggplant parmigiana (looked great), shrimp spinach salad (I wish I got that - it had prawns) and pasta. We also shared cheese cake that was delicious. Prices were not exorbitant and staff were mostly pleasant and personable, though our waitress, the youngest of the bunch, was a notch below the others, all of whom stopped by to check on us at one point or another. read more

We stayed in Cabin 4 and it was perfect! The beds were a dream - one of the most comfortable I have ever slept in. We appreciated the real dishes and cute decor. This was a fantastic alternative to a boring hotel room - it made our entire weekend! The town of McCloud was charming and the lodge had the perfect location. My fiancé and I booked a cabin here for our wedding night in June. Our family also made reservations for Shasta View Lodge to stay over the weekend for our wedding. We booked the cabin in November, and received a message today (February) canceling our cabin due to a double booking. They told us a wedding is happening at Shasta View Lodge the same weekend, which is odd that they failed to mention that three months ago, when we booked. Only a $75 credit to Shasta View Lodge was offered to us, despite them having multiple hotels and other lodges they manage in the area. After we told them we would be going to airbnb support, they offered the $75 credit to one of their other lodges, which is $300 more than a stay at Shasta View Lodge. Now, my fiancé and I have to find different housing for ourselves and our family. This is the last thing I want to be worrying about when preparing for my wedding. It appears that they care more about making money than taking care of their guests, which is so inhospitable. I am disappointed I will never stay there, nor will I want to, since the management is disorganized and disrespectful. read more

So lucky to have found this place! We stayed 2 nights at this lodge that accomodated 4 adults and 2 kids plus my small dog. If youre looking for a place to enjoy the mccloud falls, dunsmuir and shasta area, this is a really good place! All the people are super friendly and we were super fortunate to be the very first customer of a new restaurant called "harvest". The chef used to work at the cliff in san jose as an executive chef! The food was amazing! Couldnt have asked for a better 4th of july weekend. read more

Very cool place- laid back and chill vibe. We booked online and weren't quite sure we had a room until we sent an online message to check. The day we were checking in, we got a call to confirm check in with instructions for accessing our room- which was basically "the key is in he door." We were a little confused when we arrived, but figured it out quick enough and made our way to Room 2. What a beautiful room! The heat was on so it was toasty warm. We packed our gear in and got settled. We had booked this room because of the claw foot tub- very inviting in the corner of the room- but with an early morning sunrise to catch and then a distraction at McCloud Falls, we never quite made it. Good news is that we'll be back and next time, a nice soaking bath will be on the agenda! read more

This is a super place that we have stayed before as a staging area to fish the lower McCloud. Very clean - friendly folks like Jamie were kind to let us re-schedule without penalty after national forests closed due to fire. Each room is slightly different in the setup... the first time we visited, they could accommodate my wife, me sone and me with a room that has a separate single bed. Looks like the food is better too - we saw the menu and it looked great, but didn't get a chance to try it. Great proximity to a quick mart at the Chevron station and the 2 grocery stores in town are just across the street. read more

This is one of those saying: don't judge a book by its cover. It looks alright on the outside but is actually a gem! The 2 story #6 is so beautiful, big, clean, and complete! There's simple, perfect touch everywhere that you'd appreciate. We felt so at home! Staff was awesome! Beautiful Mt. Shasta View! The stay was amazing! Great host and place was quiet and room was amazing.

I would have liked to have given it more stars. Pros-The bed was one of the MOST comfortable beds I have slept on. The linens on the beds were some of the softest! I liked the automated check in. Cons-The property/landscaping seemed in need of some TLC. There were many weeds mixed in with some intentionally planted flowers. But it seemed like it had been forgotten. The refrigerator in our room had someone's old half eaten food and drink left in it, made me question the cleanliness of the rest of the room. The utensils they supplied (a really nice touch) were dirty with left over food which was also on the plates, cups. I had to wash everything prior to use. There were 2 boxes on the porch of the closed restaurant when we arrived and they were still there when we left. It was kind of odd knowing no staff were on-sight. read more

This place was perfect for our family of 4. We rented one of the two story rooms and the kids took over the upstairs while my husband and I were down stairs. The place was very clean, well stocked with plates and all that you could need with a kitchenette, including coffee! The place was very clean. The heaters worked great and there was also two space heaters for added warmth which we didn't need. We walked to meals which was very nice considering we had driven a ways and being able to just walk places was a nice break from the car! read more

Beautiful location, quiet area, plenty to see and do! Our room is exactly as shown in the photo. The sofa folded out to about a twin/double size futon bed. Cleanest room we've ever stayed in! Loved the "porch" outside and the patio area for sitting and gazing at Mt. Shasta in the distance. Large, full growth, trees cover the property.
