Did not stay overnight in the hotel but had dinner here. It is early 1900 hotel that was redone after a fire around 1918. It has absolutely beautiful workmanship inside and out. Looked around in many of the rooms. I would love to stay here someday.

Historic lodging right at the base of magnificent Mount Shasta.

Tucked in a historic lumber mill town along the Volcanic Scenic Byway, sitting at the foot of the majestic Mount Shasta. Originally built in 1916 to house the single men working at the local mill, it has retained its heritage while embracing modern hospitality. From the cozy rooms with beautiful windows framing a view that could easily be a painting to the meticulously tended grounds inviting you to unwind after a day of exploring, this hotel is the epitome of rustic charm. The bed was plush, with the most amazing cotton sheets that you may also purchase. Room 103 is a corner unit and overlooks the gardens, it also pays tribute to Ansel Adams. Mornings began with seriously good coffee and a delicious breakfast buffet featuring both hot and cold offerings. Breakfast is included in your stay. For dinner there's a beloved onsite restaurant by the name of Sage but unfortunately it was closed during our stay so we walked into town, about a 1 min stroll to another great place. Every afternoon complimentary wine awaits. Hotel is dog friendly, and offers beach towels for river and lake visits. Just behind the property, a quiet stroll through a residential neighborhood leads to an abandoned railway station with stunning views of Mount Shasta. A truly charming stay that I highly recommend to anyone who enjoys history, nature, good food, and the quiet pleasures of small-town hospitality.

Everything was wonderful! The food, the Hotel, the room, the staff, the town... we only had one night and hope to return for a longer stay!

We love McCloud Hotel! It's like stepping back 100 years, with beautiful yet comfortable antique furnishings throughout the historic Inn. The breakfast was included and made fresh to order from a lovely menu with great options. The wine in the last by in the afternoon was a nice way to unwind before our dinner reservations at the amazing onsite Sage Restaurant, especially after a 6 hour drive getting here. The rooms are all uniquely decorated and comfortable with high thread count sheets on the beds (also available for sale at front desk). The rooms are beautifully appointed and bathrooms stocked with the excellent quality products from Beekman 1802 for hair & body, also available for sale at reception desk. (Complainers... go stay at the chain hotels somewhere else. ) This place is for people who love the quaint and vintage vibe - yet it has modern plumbing, electrical & wifi for current day lifestyles. We try to stay here whenever we are in the area. Thanks for keeping the charm of the hotel!!! (so many vintage hotel owners rip it all out and make cookie cutter identical rooms to modernize, and they might just as well be a random chain hotel at that point!)

    Missing a light fixture.

This is an old hotel and not in a good way. It is either struggling or the owners no longer have time or care. They do keep trying which isn't coming across in a good way. We arrived at 6:30p and was excited to have arrived early and was going to enjoy a cocktail outside and just relax. However, there was no envelope waiting for us, only a note telling us to call this number if there wasn't an envelope. Called the number and got a lengthy recording which none of it helped in anyway. On the recording, they mentioned the pub next door. Decided to go and see if anyone knew "Cynthia'". Lo and behold, the hostess did. She called Cynthia or someone, who answered and then took us back to the hotel for our key. She apologized and up we went and she left. Upon opening our room, there was no bedding on the bed and a trash bag on the floor. Bummer. So off we went back to the pub and explained what happened. She called Cynthia or ? again. Back to the hotel we go. She goes upstairs to check the room we were now going to (their suite) and it was all cleaned. So up we go. It is now dark outside so we decide to watch a movie on my iPad (no tv in the room). Well there is nothing to tell us the WiFi password. We had been told there was a piece of paper in the room with all the info. I decide this time to call the pub and ask for the hostess. She puts me on hold and again calls Cynthia or ? and comes back and gives me the password. I kept her on the phone this time. It worked. The rest of the night went well. The following morning we went down to breakfast at 9:15a. The tables have white table cloths and were clean, set and ready. There was plenty of things to choose from including hot eggs, both scrambled and fried (the fried didn't look that great but I cut off all the crunchy edges), fried potatoes, pancakes, bacon and sausage. The dining room had a light fixture missing on the wall and the drapes were off the hooks. It looked sad. For $283 I expected more. I would not recommend this place and will not be back.

Boasting 16 rooms and suites in the main inn between two floors, each has its own charm offering free Wi-Fi just in case you really must stay connected but no TV except in the common area downstairs to free you from unnecessary distractions. Cabinets full of simple board games and a plethora of books in their library downstairs will keep you occupied in a tech-no way. Start the day with a cooked to order breakfast for pickup at the lobby to enjoy right at the lobby, back in the room, outside in the porch, or gardens. You can take bed and breakfast literally and have breakfast in bed with a good cozy mystery. Although not chosen for breakfast, the porch ended up being my favorite spot to unwind whether it is enjoying takeout lunch from White Mountain Café right down the street, after chasing waterfalls at Burney and McCloud Falls or kicking my feet up for wine o'clock with a glass of wine after a long drive up or day exploring - https://aroundthebayandaway.blogspot.com/2022/08/return-to-simpler-times-at-mccloud.html After dinner either onsite at the delicious Sage Restaurant or historic downtown just steps away, roast s'mores at the firepit before retiring to your room. One suggestion is I wish they have small tables in all the rooms to enjoy your breakfast or play those board games. I chose 228 because it was one of two that had a table but would've preferred the decor of the neighboring room which definitely had lots of space for one.

Old historic charming B and B. Each room is unique. Comfortable beds and linens. Cute little town. The breakfast is cooked to order and includes your choice of entree, juice, coffee and tea.

Gorgeous hotel in historic building; definitely one of the gems in the area! I can't speak for the hotel accommodation rooms and service, since I have stayed overnight here before, but the dining hall / front room entrance and downstairs hall is warm and charming, with an old-fashioned welcoming vibe that makes one immediately feel at ease. It is definitely a romantic and cozy environment, one that has been used for weddings on many occasion (including my friends and friends of friends of mine), and was met with very favorable reviews and cherished memorable moments. That said, it is one of the finest restaurants in the area; as good or better than many of the tastiest food joints and restaurants I've been to around the world. Highly recommend their dinner menu!! Wow! Well done, McCloud Hotel!! Delightful and ambient atmosphere, scrumptious (mostly organic) food, worth stopping in!

Holiday cheer, a warm atmosphere, and calm

Kind staff. Good food at their annual Christmas tea. Beautiful holiday decorations. I live in town but attend events here. In the spring there is an outside sitting area. McCloud is a friendly, slow paced town. Lots of places to hike.

Great inn in McCloud and they have a restaurant and pub. Free breakfast. I attended a wedding here and they were wonderful at feeding and serving the crowd. We had the whole place booked to stay - my room was perfect. Cindy is a great proprietor/inn keeper. Grounds are beautiful.

I've been coming to McLeod and staying at the McCloud hotel on and off for at least the last 15 years. There are not a lot of choices in the cloud but irregardless it's still a lovely place to stay. If I have one complaint it's the lack of coffee service until 8 AM. I mean really you've got half dozen to eight guests mulling around with their empty coffee cup in their hand going "may I have some coffee please". The innkeeper is pretty adamant her morning start at eight breakfast starts at eight and when we asked that we were leaving early in the morning to go fishing and I hate to say this but she begrudgingly split the baby and had a little protein box for us at 7:30 AM along with coffee on the second day. But aside from that it's really five stars all the way around. The breakfast that you order that come with the room a bit on the small side but honestly very very delicious offerings. I don't know about the other rooms but my room number 217 was remodeled during Covid with a gorgeous and hammered copper bathtub and slate finished bathroom. The beds were super comfortable and the Internet was strong.

    Large and wonderful room

Impromptu stay that was an excellent experience. My wife always wanted to stay here and we were very pleased to get a room late into the day. A beautiful, historical building for sure. The room was a niche fishing style decor, wooded floors, art, books, large bathroom and filled with history to the trained eye. All needed modern updates...like the comfy bed. A walk through the hall and grounds are a must. Breakfast is included in the stay and top notch. The staff is pretty invisible...just the way we like it. It's romantic, quiet, comfortable. Thank you.

Steve, the owner is very friendly and accommodating. The town of McCloud was build by the McCloud Mill family for the loggers and sawmill workers who would come to work from spring through fall each year milling trees. Their annual Mushroom Festival brings in over 60,000 people from all over California, Oregon, Washington, and Nevada for the weekend. That was really sweet of them! The room had a microwave and small fridge w/freezer. There was a small office desk with coffee and ice. Tv, a/c, heater unit. Two things to note: 1. If you use 3 ports to charge at the clock on the nightstand, it uses too much power and one of the electronics needs to be unplugged. There are wall outlets, so you'd need to use those. 2. We didn't have a shower curtain when we arrived. I thought it was one of those modern places where it's just open, but we definitely needed a shower curtain. I felt so bad showering and getting everything wet in the bathroom. Housekeeping was kind to answer quickly and gave us towels to clean up. The fan in the bathroom isn't that effective. I suspect they'll have a mold problem in the future. The light switch to the bathroom is on the outside, which I thought was odd. Other than that, we had a pleasant one night stay. The wedding was hosted across the street at the golf course and my suggestion to the person who organizes both of these venues. I think you should offer golf cart transportation between the resort and the golf course. That would prevent a lot of people from taking the chance and driving that short distance while intoxicated. I noticed this first hand on several of our party goers. We had a beautiful cabin that was not on the lake, but close enough to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. I see a lot of reviews had a problem with cleanliness and honestly, we did walk in to a musty smelling cabin and dead, flying things all in the bathroom, but after doing a black light inspection of the mattress, I was reasonably assured that bedbugs would not be an issue. To me that's a big one. I highly recommend this location if you're planning a wedding at the golf course.

The location has potential, but our stay was highly disappointing…read more First and foremost, the checkout policy requires guests to wash all dishes prior to checking out. This is a major sanitation concern. IF the property thoroughly cleans and sanitizes the kitchenware between stays, this chore is an unnecessary burden on paying guests. If they do not reclean them, then the health and safety of incoming guests relies entirely on the honor system and the cleaning habits of previous occupants. It is incredibly unsettling to think the dishes we used may not have been professionally washed or sanitized. The cabin itself clearly got a "landlord special" French doors were stuck and wouldnt open. Had to call maintenance to get them fixed. The refrigerator and cabinet drawers overlap so tightly that opening the fridge makes the drawers to open, and vice versa. The fridge door is already dented, clearly from this problem. The blinds are old, broken, and don't close all the way. So we had to wake up with the sun every morning, spiderwebs in the ceiling corners throughout the cabin. For the price charged to stay here, guests should at least be guaranteed professional cleanliness. Unfortunately, this property missed the mark on all counts.
