In addition, I wanted it to look attractive throughout the year. After doing considerable research, I found Landscape Connection and called them. Within a very short time, I was put in touch with Hailey Bruchner who came to my house and talked to my wife and me about what we wanted and contributed some ideas of her own. I was so impressed with her, I lost no time in hiring her company. Soon after that Hailey presented us with a detailed design that included everything we wanted and more. Once we decided to move forward, Hailey met me at Jensen Sales where together we selected rocks. I enjoy looking at rocks and I can appreciate their individual and unique beauty. As we looked at what was available, I could see that Hailey loves rocks too and has a superb eye when evaluating them. In fact, her discerning eye was applied to every aspect of the project, and not only is she talented, knowledgeable and experienced, she is professional, warm and a pleasure to work with. Having just completed a significant backyard project with Mile High I simply CANNOT recommend this…read morecompany. We have done numerous house projects with other companies and Mile High is by far the worst of any we've ever worked with. It's not even close. The issues we experienced are too many to count. Our Landscape Architect and Project Manager had a falling out with the owners and walked off the job on Day 1, setting everything back. The owners assumed project management and were clueless about the project and so much was lost in transition. It resulted in tons of issues, missed handoffs, cost escalations, delays, and frustrations for us as the customer. The owners are not serious, professional people and they do not have a customer focus. They don't own their work and will not be accountable for results. They will tell you they will provide updates and will then go dark. We had a big party at our house and before the project started, we said it had to be done in time for the event, and we were told "no problem at all" as the project would only be 4-6 weeks, and of course it took more than 8 weeks and our backyard was a mess for the event. They'll tell you anything to initiate a project and ensure that all bills are paid on time, but are extremely unreliable when it comes to delivering. It is extremely frustrating to work with this company and you, as the customer, will have to constantly stay on top of them and the work. You'll find yourself asking why are you even paying them (especially paying a premium)! Heed this advice and do not work with Mile High Landscaping. You will be sorry if you do.

We had…read morea substantial backyard overhaul and met with several landscaping companies to get quotes- Nick understood our vision immediately and in a way none of the others did. Admittedly, the only thing that gave me any pause was that he doesn't have many reviews- don't let that deter you!! Nick gave us an incredible design and worked with us to revise and phase it out for budget purposes. We completed phase 1 of the work with him this spring (deck demo and paver patio install) and it was absolutely seamless. From tweaking design to picking materials, Nick was always accessible and a great communicator. His crew worked quickly and efficiently and we are SO thrilled with our new outdoor space. We'll be calling Nick again next year to tackle the rest of our project! Cannot recommend him highly enough.

Our project…read moreincluded design services, complete removal of existing backyard landscaping and patio, save for one tree, pouring of a new concrete patio and hot tub pad, installation of a gas fire pit and gas line for our grill, new sod, 5 large trees, around 20 plants, and a new irrigation system to include new valves and lines. Many aspects of the project fell short, and if you don't want to read any further, my recommendation is to look elsewhere for your landscaping needs. Pros -Very solid design work, our backyard originally looked great and the design is much more functional and private. Cons -Patio: the subcontractor ran short on concrete and I witnessed them pulling what was left from the pump lines and a catch tray to complete the project. The result is a portion of our patio that has incorrect drainage/pooling, spalling and cracking. -Irrigation: and entirely new system, including valves, was supposed to be installed. None of the valves were replaced and I am now having significant problems that will require a complete replacement of the 20 year old valves. -Plants: Nick assured me that the 7 boxwoods he had planned would hold up to my two male dogs. They were dead within 3 months, replaced under his warranty, and were all dead again the following spring. In researching, it turns out that boxwoods are not tolerant of dog urine whatsoever and something else should have been used. -Fire pit: beautiful centerpiece in our backyard. Unfortunately, it was slammed together at the last minute and the internal structure couldn't support the lava rock. I rebuilt it myself less than 6 months after the project was completed. Lawn: extremely lumpy and uneven, is going to require a bunch of sand and labor to get it where it needs to be. I spoke with Nick many times after our project was completed to address some of these issues (not all were immediately present or known about) and was brushed off and made to feel like I was putting him out...after cutting him a check for $60k. Not only is the value not there, I am now paying a second time for things that weren't done correctly the first time and in some case were borderline fraudulent like the sprinkler valves.

But I will next season, because I'm definitely having them come back and finish the job. They did what they said they were going to do, when they said there were going to do it. They removed our existing grass, replaced it with weed barrier, decorative stones and several native plants, and set up a drip irrigation system. This was a fairly significant landscaping job that they completed in about one week. We were so pleased with how it came out and several weeks out, maintenance has been very minimal with only some minor weeding needed. We received great service at an affordable price and would absolutely work with them again.

I hired Aspenwood to tear out and replace 4300 square feet of sod. Josiah came out to quote the job and his pricing was competitive. He was also successful in convincing me to consider a new strain of rhizomatous tall fescue over blue grass, with the former being resistant to drought and requiring less water to maintain. It looks great! His crew worked extremely hard and paid attention to detail while completing the project. Aspenwood had the right equipment to do an excellent job in soil prep, which included 15 tons of soil treatment. At the completion of the project, Omar (their crew chief) was meticulous in adjusting the sprinkler heads to their original state. We had no idea what we wanted back there, but Josh had the experience and expertise to show us what it could become. They showed us several options and let us tweak items on the quote. We ended up doing a concrete walkway from the driveway down the side of the house, a concrete patio under our deck, a stamped concrete walkway out to the fire pit pad, irrigation system, rocks, trees and shrubs. We never imagined having a yard this beautiful! The crew also did a great job cleaning up afterwards and were always on time with starting the work. Some others on our street had used New View in the past and we loved the way their yards turned out. Finally, tired of neighbors harassing us about the dead grass (seriously though, I am not paying hundreds of dollars per month to water my lawn) we broke down and called New View for a quote. The owner, Ampelio, is a great guy. He listened to what we wanted, answered a million questions, and gave us a quote right away. Other companies we tried to get bids from wanted to charge $500 just to draw up a sketch of what the plan would look like. We waited a little while to pull the trigger...you know, just to make sure all our grass was sufficiently dead. A couple of months passed and we were finally ready. Amazingly, work started quickly and only took a few days (if it hadn't been for weather delays). I found New View to be completely professional as well as flexible and reliable. When we noticed some damaged concrete, Ampelio suggested re-doing our front stoop to solve the issue (water going into the foundation) as well as addressing a safety hazard in the way our little porch was setup. We could NOT be happier with the way it all turned out. Now, the neighbors who used to complain about our lawn behind are back are jealous! The best revenge is a lawn well landscaped.
