The job specified that the wall would be replaced, as well as a slab of concrete. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The day the wall was replaced, I was told by Jose that his concrete "guy" had a family event and would be out of town for two to three weeks and the job would be completed when he returned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] He took a small amount off the total cost of the job with the condition that it would be paid when the concrete slab was finished. Damages sustained while removing asphalt: 1. 30 ft. fence removed and portions of it saved but the saved portion was haphazardly thrown on side of road and damaged 2. Landing post ripped in half. It was an Anchor post destroyed 3. Stretch of Top bricks 10 ft in length from brick wall broken from brick wall 4. Driveway Lamp post disconnected from conduit Ruben is a professional salesman; however, once the contract is signed, things go downhill from there. I found that the quality of work and professionalism needed for the project shoddy, reckless, and haphazard. While ripping out asphalt with small bulldozers, the workers and Ruben destroyed the anchor post on my porch landing. Secondly, the top layers of bricks on my brick wall were broken. Third, the lamp driveway was disengaged from its electric conduit. Lastly, portions of my fence were destroyed when workers haphazardly threw it on the side of the road I asked that Ruben repair all of the damage he/his workers did, as they damaged it. He resisted and claimed almost no responsibility. I had a remaining $1800 to pay him as a final payment, having already paid out $15,200 and insisted he repair what was damaged before final payment. He resisted, he declared he and workers were not responsible, and then he threaten me with a mechanic liens. Needless to say, It was very menacing. Ruben can be very sweet and professional at first quote, but once the contract is signed, a Dr. Jerkyll and Mr. Hyde persona comes out and his emotional state goes ballistic from 0 to 100 in seconds. My long time contractor, who has worked on my property for over 6 years, looked at the damages and said the cement guy should fix what they damaged. Warning: Having hired countless contractors to work on my property, I find professionalism and quality of work a very high concern. He will disclaim all shoddy work and damage he/his workers did to property, even if you have pictures He will threaten threaten threaten you with a mechanic lien, though the job of his workers not repairing damage to property is not settled. Service was awesome. The owner actually reported me and got my updated review taken down. I'll repost it this time without offensive words! Too many contractors cheating people these days. How do we report to get their Yelp Page to post a scam warning label on them? Anyhow here's the PG/PC version downgraded from a PG-13 content. I gave Ruben a 5 star he never deserved. He dragged out my landscaping for months. His employees couldn't understand English when I was communicating with them, but he put up a fit when they drew out my plantar without getting my input. I could hear him yelling on the phone and got Ruben to confirm it later. I don't blame them. I actually felt bad for them because Ruben was the one giving them incorrect instructions. He didn't speak well of his employees. Trust me, we took care of them when it was hot and they were hungry. The rocks weren't very hard to adjust. A child could move them. I asked for a stone wall by the way and they threw in stone rocks on the floor to make my border. He misrepresented his service and supplies so many times and I ended up paying for service that I never asked form. Ruben makes you feel very sorry for him every time you talk to him. He tugs at your heart string and if you're like me, like most homeowners are, you get played pretty badly. My wife was smarter than me. She had a bad feeling about him from the beginning and kept telling me there was something off about the way he worked. He never showed up to his first appointment. There was always a major incident happening in his home which I get. It's not easy juggling a family life and business. I totally have been there which is why I repeatedly gave Ruben chance after chance He dragged out the project for months. Should have finished within 2 weeks. When projects are left unfinished it makes life difficult for the homeowners in more ways than one. He jumped from place to place and left us dry. I had to complain so many times just to get him to come out. For the last payment installation, my wife did not want me to prepay anymore. It was the only way we got him to finish the project. One the project finish I wanted to let bygones be bygones from us. What's the point of holding a grudge? I updated my review to a 5 star. It could encourage him to do more good for others if sees clients like me who are simply happy if you finish out what you started. The guy called me back and let me know he didn't expect me to leave that for him after all I went through. He appreciated it so much he pledged to change out all my gravel for rocks free of charge. Ruben was the last of many quotes I received to demo my old driveway and pour new concrete as well as grade and level my entire backyard and install decomposed granite, and he was able to beat every quote I received with very reasonable pricing. His crew started work the next day after signing the contract and the entire job was completed in 7 days. My favorite thing was being able to pay in increments online with a credit card without any additional processing fees. We only paid what we were quoted. The company was very quick to provide a quote and rework their quote when I wasn't going to use them due to pricing. This will be a second review of this company after taking down my first, as a request from Reuben in order to make things right. I can't count the number of times I've been promised that my job would be completed. I paid for over 1400 square feet of concrete to be poured and stamped and sealed. Initially Reuben was on top of it. He literally got started the very next week after giving me a quote. Everything was completed except the sealant. He asked that I pay the remaining balance of the job, so I paid in full, cash which was a big mistake. Since I paid him in full I had a guy named Robert Garcia show up to my house threatening to put a lean on my home because he did not receive his money in full from Reuben. He was under the impression I never paid for the job until we both showed each other the messages from Reuben. During the job the guys pulled sprinklers from parts of my yard and were never fixed. The pop up drain installed in the concrete was placed in a low spot not even draining to the front side walk that we talked about. [[HIGHLIGHT]]But it was fixed 2 months later , after texting Reuben probably 2 to three times a week with every excuse on why he wasn't able to fix the problem faster[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. My cement has been power washed probably 7 times? With the intent of having it sealed. But that never happened. Hired this company based on reviews however I think my husband was looking at Dreamscape landscaping in Glendoras reviews and not Dreamscapes Rancho Cucamoga. He hired Ruben and he initially seemed professional however we hired them to resurface, patch and seal cracks and leave a smooth surface in our backyard pool area as Ruben said he knows how to do masonry work. This proved to be a very wrong, see photos. The workers showed up started painting did not seal concrete properly and did not mask anything off to prevent paint splash. They did not resurface and smooth any cracks per conversations of scope of work instead left this mess (see photos) and demanded final payment. They came back and sloppily tried to fill cracks and never completed this correctly as you see by all the shiny lines and brush strokes. They asked for $1500 deposit up front and then $2000 at completion of work for a total of $3500 to do this SLOPPY JOB! [[HIGHLIGHT]]My husband complained about work and Ruben threatened to put a lien on our home and would not do what was agreed upon and he kept saying, we said it was okay, Which after multiple conversations that is not true.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My husband caved to his pressure and treats and paid him for this crappy job. He got back to me with a quote and we agreed on the project. There was some delay because the availability of the mulch. Ruben suggested gorilla hair mulch for the project due to the high wind probe area. I am glad we went with that mulch, we have had some pretty bad wind events in the last week and the mulch has not moved at all, good call for suggesting that specific mulch. DO NOT HIRE THIS "COMPANY" Where to begin.... When Ruben came to give us an estimate in last July, he promised the sun and the moon for an amazing price and said he could start the following week. He assured us his guys were all "licensed, bonded, and insured". Once we decided to go with him, we immediately saw RED FLAGS: * He asked for half the cost of the project before starting ($20,000), we were not comfortable with that, so he settled for 10% * He asked that our checks be written out to his wife not the business * The checks were cashed at our bank for cash. After checks were cashed, we stopped hearing from him. When we texted or called, he would randomly respond with some crisis that prevented him from responding. After months of back and forth with no work being done, we learned his guys were not licensed, and ruben is not a licensed contractor.   We told ruben we would not be needing his services and asked him to return our money.   In October we made an agreement with Ruben to return our money. First, he wrote us a check for half of what was owed, and that check bounced. So we told him we would work with him and accept weekly payments of $500. Since Dec 5, he has only provided 3 payments. He rarely responds to messages and always has excuses.   BE WARNED: He had a bad review on his account before, and he was able to convince us the person was unreasonable and we believed him.
