The coaching appears to be nonexistent. The payment system has issues as I have been overcharged.

As a disciplined gym pro that has visited several gyms throughout major cities, i do enjoy High…read moreAltitude Truckee as a home gym for its cleanliness and variety of workout equipment. People are very athletic here and that's encouraging. Yes sometimes the men's locker room is stinky during rush hour and its okay cuz i'll go first thing in the morning and i notice they have a nightly cleaner. Overall, the ambiance is great with appropriate background music. The only issues ever have been the dauna that broke down a couple months ago but that usually is common in high volume gyms, especially when the heater is abused. This is a tourist/transient town so im sure it's not the regulars that mistreat it. The sauna was really hot yesterday especially for its large size. I love the fact that there's a water bucket and ladle to keep the experience prime. Last Sunday sucked though because apparently they closed an hour earlier than their posted schedule. It's understandable as i do know they are looking for a new manager, says the ad they posted. I believe they'll get a solid manager soon maybe one that can help with both locations as i frequent the one in Incline way more. Thats a great location as well. Hardly ever any issues. The owners do great with both and i'm excited to see who the new manger is.

Pros: - the rack room is great…read more- good selection of new equipment - gym area is clean - cheapest gym option in truckee (but that's not saying much) Cons: - equipment/sauna repairs take forever - locker rooms not very clean/well maintained - employees consistently no-show, making the 6am opening extremely unreliable - management seems to prefer being combative with customers over trivial things rather than doing what makes sense (just put a dirty towel receptacle by the exit already) - WAY overpriced, ridiculous fees, horrible guest pass options, and arbitrary restrictions on membership benefits, even though you're paying full price (and then some) for said membership - they unapologetically jump on every opportunity they can to GOUGE you with extra fees, requirements, and irrelevant timelines to initiate/cancel, etc...and they seem almost proud to do so

DON'T DO IT. If you're reading this and trying to decide on a gym--Not this one. There are other…read moregyms in the area, including regular gyms and crossfit ones that are sure to treat you better and have better facilities. I'll start with the non-personal review first. -They're expensive. -They close incredibly early. -They will try to milk you on fees- You're not a person here, you're a cash cow. (despite the fact that this is not a huge box corporation gym) -Their equipment is outdated and there is not nearly enough of it. -No one shows up to run their fitness classes-every time I went at least. I am a Marine combat veteran trying to train and get myself back in shape as I'm applying for a few law enforcement jobs. It's not easy transitioning form the military to civilian life. Money is tight but I needed a gym to get back into shape and I was drawn to the fact that this gym was privately owned and operated. It's a small town community gym that would treat me like a friend/member of the community or so I thought. Not the case. My credit card was stolen, I received a new one on the 1st of the month. Fees are due on the 1st of the month. I called on the first and paid my dues- So I wasn't late in paying my dues..... TWO WEEKS later I was called and told I would have to pay a late fee of $40 bucks. Obviously I was upset. And as I mentioned money is tight. I told the lady (Cathy) who called everything I mentioned above about paying on time and my credit card...She didn't care. I was so upset I asked what the cancellation fees were and she literally LAUGHED at me before she told me. To sum it up, I paid my gym fees on time over the phone. But Because it was a new card they wanted me to pay a $40 late fee- two weeks after the fact. Would you pay this? Apparently if you're not with their program and question what they do, they kick you out. Two hours later Cathy gleefully called me and told me my membership had been cancelled and to find another gym. Is this the kind of community gym you want to go to? This is how they treat people, not to mention veterans trying to make ends meet. This might seem embellished but it's not at all- take it for what it's worth when you're deciding on a gym here in Oroville.

My son and I are shopping around for a sports club and I tried out this one since it is the closest…read moreto where we live. We couldn't both try it out because they charge $20 for a day pass. For me that's an instant turn off because every other club we've toured has given us at least a day free pass. The equipment is old for the prices they charge. The sauna doesn't work in the women's room. You feel like you're in a hospital with the pink plastic curtains over the showers. I really was unimpressed. Sadly, I may still end up joining because it is so much closer than my other options but they hardly deserve to call themselves a sports club. Oh yeah and get this: they don't even allow members to bring guests in EVER. They are tight asses but apparently in the trashy town of Oroville that is how a business must operate.
