We annually dine at Drifthouse for my birthday during restaurant week. This year we didn't make a reservation because we weren't too crazy about the options on the restaurant week menu. When we were in the area, my husband suggested that we go there for a drink and a bite at the bar since it was happy hour. He ordered the steak and frites and I decided to get the restaurant week deal. His steak frites were just alright, the fries were the highlight of the dish. I started with the ahi tuna which was good but the chips that it came with were outstanding! They were light and seasoned perfectly. They also gave you a lot of them. For entree, I had scallops, octopus risotto. The scallops were the highlight of the dish. The octopus looked good but lacked flavor. For dessert, I had the key lime pie which was the best thing I ate and I am not a huge dessert person. On June 22, 2022 - based on an advertised special "Wok & Roll Wednesdays" (valid from March 7, 2022 to June 26, 2022) - we drove from several towns away through pouring rain to this restaurant. We showed up to an almost deserted restaurant and the server informed us that we were the latest victims of a Bait & Switch ploy and that sushi wasn't half price but asked if we wanted overpriced tequila and tacos instead. Worst restaurant I have ever been to. Went for valentine day, $95 dollar price fixed menu per person (not including tip). Was served 3 small meatballs and 3 disgusting lobster dumplings ($10 upcharge). Then ordered seafood feast with scallops, halibut, oysters, and mussels. Half of the shells had no meat in them and the sauce was cold and coagulated at the bottom of the plate. Dessert was also disgusting, and server was extremely rude because we didn't order alcohol. $250 later, and I will never return. Place overall sucked horribly, just because it is By a famous chef does not make it good. read more

Loved going to David Burke's restaurants in NYC... now we have two awesome locations here in Monmouth County. Tonight the hubby and I sat at the bar. The bartenders Brittany & Nick were super attentive and made the dinning experience enjoyable. Began our food adventure with extra dirty martinis perfectly made... along with a beet and kale salad. We also had clothes line bacon... this is no ordinary bacon... dinner was skirt steak, brussel sprouts (amazing), filet mignon & lobster. Of course we had to have dessert... we selected chocolate cake in a tin... while the cake was baking we were served a taste of the cake batter (so much funyuh to lick the beaters)... the cake arrived hot out of the oven in a tin... Nick prepared two plates with cake, caramel sauce, crunch mix, fresh whipped cream and delightful vanilla ice cream. This is an experience one most have! read more

Restaurants with ocean views, delicious food AND excellent service aren't as plentiful as you'd think in a state with 130 miles of coastline. Drifthouse definitely hit all three for me. When you pull up there is valet parking in front or you can park yourself. The restaurant is upstairs from the Driftwood Cabana Club. There is outdoor seating and plenty of windows to take in the views from indoors. From the moment we arrived service was fantastic. The manager came over to chat with us at one point and make sure we were enjoying everything. Our waiter consistently checked on us throughout dinner. Every dish we ordered was excellent. Me and my husband decided to check out the porterhouse for two that was dry aged in their Himalayan pink salt room. My husband enjoys his steak rare while I enjoy mine well done. We generally find it impossible to share a steak at most restaurants. The chef here had no issue cooking it for both of us. The bacon on a clothesline is something anyone that enjoys bacon should get. It's finished off table-side and delicious! If you're in the area and looking for a fancier beach-side meal, Drifthouse is worth a visit. read more

I finally had the opportunity to check our one of Burke's non NYC restaurants (that I had been dying to go to)! I must say it was a lot more casual than his NYC places, but the food was just as fantastic and the service was excellent. When we arrived, my gf asked if David or his brother, Robert, were around. Immediately upon seating, Robert came out, said hello to us and offered to send us some appetizers. What a sweetheart! He sent out his staple, maple bacon on a clothesline, along with the surf and turf dumplings, and the Octopus & Chorizo Kabobs. Everything was great. I was dipping bread in the oil that came with the octopus and chorizo kabobs! Our waiter, David, was super friendly and very attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine for us to share (wine bottle prices were very reasonable), and then he reviewed some specials for the evening. The crab cake special sounded amazing, so we ordered that along with the scallops, and brussel sprouts and roasted potatoes as side items. The crab cake was excellent and very filling. They came with a very tasty sauce, as did the scallops dish. The brussel sprouts were nicely browned, and also came with a delicious sauce on the side. The potato dish was nothing like I expected, but I liked his fun little take on the idea. The dish came with four whole potatoes with sea salt on top and sides of butter and sour cream. After dinner the GM, Rich came over and asked how everything was, and we mentioned that we were out because of my gf's belated birthday. He suggested we indulge in some delightful desserts, like their cake by the ocean or their cheesecake lollipops (a David Burke staple). We ended up ordering the cake by the ocean and he gave us the lollipops. The cake by the ocean was a skillet made chocolate chip cookie with ice cream on top and on the side and the cheesecake lollipop dessert came with 9 yummy pops. We also ordered cappuccinos with a side of Bailey's, which is always delightful. I was very impressed with the service and that's key with me. Food was great too (his places always are). We decided to go to David Burke Drifthouse bc well, it has DB's name on it. We also traveled into Jersey to avoid traffic and difficult parking in the city. They have a parking lot here with valet. I'm sure coming here on a beautiful, warm summer day with the scenery and big beautiful houses would be just amazing. On a dark winter night is quite challenging. We did see some beautiful houses in Sea Bright that were lit up that looked gorgeous. Drifthouse is attached to a Marina. It is very nicely decorated when walking in. You have to walk up stairs to get to the main dining room. Make sure to use the restroom on the bottom level first before walking up the flight. It is a small intimate restaurant with a lot of dark wood and dim light. I found the staff here hit and miss. Our waiter was cordial and nice. Sometimes a little over bearing. The buss boy either was hovering to much when not appropriate or no where to be found when needed. Other tables around us sat uncleaned the whole time we were there. For an upscale, fine dining establishment I think it is un acceptable for this to occur. It's a trashy look and to look at when eating. For dinner the apps were a let down. We ordered the surf and turf dumplings. They were 4 to and order and super small. Def not worth the money. Also, there was a special stuffed sweet peppers with fresh crab stuffing. The crab tasted more like tuna and it wasn't even lump it was the cheap stuff again a disappointment. For entrees We ordered the filet and the Delmonico steaks. Both steaks were perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. We ordered the hipster fries. They were crispy and tasted delicious. A little spicy and cheesy. A must try. The Brussels were a little oily but good and the spinach and mushrooms were okay. The steak sauce was good with the steak. Overall def something to get. We ordered a specialty bourbon drink that was okay. The bartender wasn't able to replicate it on the second go around. For dessert we had a coconut cake that was good. It tasted like something was missing. We sat at the bar after dinner and it seemed like the staff was having a tasting party. I would expect that from TGI FRIDAYS not a fine dining restaurant.. Overall, for a DB restaurant I thought we would have gotten better quality food and staff would have been more polished. Maybe we came on an off night. This is my second visit to Drifthouse, and both times were outstanding! I've never had a bad meal at a David Burke establishment, this time we were a party of 11 and the food was on point even though this was a Mother's Day Prix Fix. The choices were top notch for a holiday menu and they had fantastic additions like the raw bar and the signature clothesline bacon for the table. Most of the table got the prime rib which was cooked to everyone's varying temperatures to perfection and had a delicious side of potatoes au gratin! Also the Mother's Day dessert selection was phenomenal, my entire family left happy, stuffed and looking forward to another time we can return for a big meal! Also can't beat the water front view of both the ocean and the Shrewsbury River from both sides, I'm sure this place packs in for summer but this was the perfect Sunday / Mother's Day Meal!! read more

5+++++ stars. This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I say dining experience because from when we entered the building to when we left, everything was top notch. The General Manager, Tom Post, is amazing and took such great care of us. We sat for our Saturday night reservation at a beautiful table with a spectacular view. He treated us to a 3 choice wine tasting where we were able to taste a white, a pink and a red. Tom was so knowledgeable of the wines and you could tell he really knew what he was talking about. Afterwards we ordered some drinks, and one of us actually ordered one of the wines we tried which Tom served us even though it was off the menu. From there he let Brianna take over, while still coming over and checking on us and offering great input and suggestions. We started with the Octopus & Chorizo Kabobs and the Maple Bacon on a Clothesline. The maple bacon was hanging from clothespins and you used a scissor to cut it. I'm not a huge bacon person but it was AMAZING, so much flavor. The presentation on the octopus skewers was also amazing and the octopus was perfect. They were honestly some of the best apps I've ever had. For dinner we ordered the Duck, the Chicken, the 8 oz. Filet and 2 of us had the Bison Short Rib. The bison short rib was phenomenal and came with this truffle cream that was added to the dish table side. Again, it was one of the most tasty things I can remember eating. The short rib itself was super tender and great. I got to try the duck which was cooked perfectly and the chicken which was not your average chicken dish - super tender, french style with a risotto side. For dessert, we got the Coconut Cake, Pumpkin Creme Brulee and "Cake by the Ocean." Everyone loved all of them, they all had a special flair to them that made them unique and "high end." From start to finish this meal was genuinely one of my all time favorites. Tom & Brianna were excellent and took amazing care of our party and really made it special for the birthday girl. My friend and I went to Drifthouse for Jersey Shore Restaurant Week (Nov 2023) where we each ordered an appetizer, meal, and dessert from the pre fix menu. As you read this review, keep in mind that this was during Restaurant Week, so the menu was different, and the place was PACKED. (I can't vouch for a regular Thursday night with the full menu.) The style and decor of the restaurant is nice, but it's incredibly loud. Not only was it completely full with people, there was also live music. I prefer a quieter ambiance, so this wasn't my style. The pre fix menu was great with lots of good options. Appetizers: tuna tartar (not great) and calamari (salty but delicious). Meals: Scallop and octopus over parmesan risotto (amazing) and braised short rib over sweet potato puree (delicious). Side dish: crispy brussels sprouts with horseradish cream (good). Dessert: triple chocolate mousse cake (phenomenal) and key lime pie (good). Overall the food was enjoyable enough to go back. The service, however, was rough. I understand it was an incredibly busy night for them, and I certainly wasn't upset at how slow/unresponsive it was since I was catching up with my friend. But it took a while to get our food, they forgot the brussels sprouts, they never asked to refill our drinks, and even after the place had cleared out, it took 20 minutes between dessert and getting the check. Our waitress was almost never to be found. Again, it was Restaurant Week, so I won't judge them fully on this, but it's something to consider. Glad I went! read more

The staff was accommodating and friendly, although our waitress disappeared for a while toward the end. The views are spectacular- the beach on one side and the Shrewsbury River across the street. I'm not sure why there are so many angry reviews here. We celebrated my birthday dinner here this week and had a really great meal and dining experience. We had a drink at the bar before we got our table by the window which I had requested on open table. Really nice bar service and April makes a mean citrus martini and as the GM, she couldn't make you feel more at home. Our dinner was very good. Our server Ryan provided us with great service and wonderful recommendations. The Lobster dumplings were yummy and definitely different. We shared the porterhouse for two which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. We had some fun sides...the hipster fries were good and I think the onion rings rocked! Great marinara dipping sauce added a nice flair to the crispy onion rings. The angry broccoli was just OK. Nothing special, just spicy broccoli. The dessert, I forget the name but it was absolutely heavenly. It was this warm chocolate chip molten cookie with ice cream and meringue, whipped cream and omg just delish. The pic I took below does not do it justice. So all in all a really warm and friendly dining experience with great food and a cool place to celebrate my birthday. This is not the first David Burke restaurant I been too. My expectations where low because it's down the Jersey shore. It was a busy Saturday night and it was great. When i saw the name, i knew this was the choice of the 2 i was given for dinner. We had a party of 6 and with reservations got a great table. Wine list was decent and I was able to find some good choices of both red and white. Now, lets start with the best item.......the clothesline bacon. Thick bacon on a string that is heated at the table for serving. This lived up to the hype! Next was the Octopus and Chorizo skewers. I found the size of these truly disappointing. Might as well have been served on a tiny tea spoon. For our mains, our table had some Filet Mignon, Scallops, Short Rib and the Red Snapper. 3 out of 4 were great!!! The Red Snapper was a bit dry but the skin was done to perfection! We all split some deserts over coffee and each one was amazing. read more

We had high hopes for this restaurant, but they didn't pan out. I ordered a Dark & Stormy (basically dark rum and ginger beer). Rather than say they didn't have the ingredients or didn't know how to make it, they served me something that was NOT a dark and stormy and from the servers comments, they had no idea how to make one. I would have been fine ordering something else if they were just truthful. I had the meatball appetizer. Basically, the meatballs are the type that you can buy at Costco - not bad, but nothing to praise them for. My spouse had the eggplant chips - which were good. I ordered the pork chop, which had a very appetizing write up in the menu. It was served practically raw. The very nice server said they do serve it "medium" and she should have said that. Oh, no, the pork chop was very rare in the middle. Don't know if the server and the kitchen didn't communicate, but the chop came back out shortly. It was warmer, but still raw in the middle. I could not eat it. They took it off the bill, but that's not why I go out to eat. My spouse had the clams casino linguine, which was just OK. Servers are very professional and very attentive; however, the kitchen really let them down for our meal. For the prices they charge, I will not be going back. read more

Every time I am home in Sea Bright visiting my family we go to DRIFTHOUSE! One of the best restaurants along the water. If your a seafood lover make sure to try the mussels. Also the shrimp ceviche is incredible. My favorite part of coming here is the live music and greats drinks! If your in the Jersey Shore this should be your first stop. read more

Went with my husband and daughter for my Birthday and didn't realize it was Burger night so the menu was limited. We ordered the Clothesline Bacon which was creatively presented and tasted good. I ordered the Caesar Salad with artichoke and it was very disappointing for $16. The dressing had no flavor and there were a few little shavings of artichoke. Our entrees took a full hour from the time we sat down. My daughter ordered the smoked brisket panini which was tasteless and I had the burger which was just okay. My husband ordered the steamed whole angry lobster and when it arrived, it was obviously broiled and the claws were dark brown. Not a big deal, except that it was overdone and like rubber with no spicy angry seasoning at all. The manager came over to apologize and asked if he wanted anything else but we didn't have another hour to wait. She never offered to comp us anything or offer us dessert - disappointing! The best part was when our waitress came back and tried to tell us that the lobster was steamed and tried to argue the point! We were completely disappointed and it ruined my birthday. They are really trying to be a five star restaurant and I do wish them well , but they do fall short on a number of things that are quite obvious. The food is pretty much excellent on most counts. The complimentary bread/toast is scanty, somewhat burned and with skimpy butter...pc portions. We dined there because it was Jersey Shore restaurant week and for $32+ for three courses, it looked inviting. When I perused the entrees, I noticed that some choices were add-ons, ie $3-12 added to the $32+. Why subscribe to the restaurant week if you're going to have add-ons? The other Jersey Shore restaurants that participated did not have add-ons. As mentioned the food was excellent but portions on the small side. I ordered a ginger beer and got 12 oz can of Goslings.$5. My friend's entree was excellent but very small Scallops Veracruz. My pastrami smoked salmon tasted very good, but only 2small pieces of salmon appeared on top. My organic chicken with farro and butternut squash was excellent. Ariella was nice and for the most part served well. The sub staff was too quick to remove our plates. The meal included two desserts of which one was Pumpkin Pie Creme Brûlée. Excellent, more like pumpkin pie, not custardy like creme brûlée. The flour-less chocolate cake was also excellent. The restaurant is very noisy! The restrooms are on the 1st floor. Why? when dining is on the 2nd. During the course of the meal,my chair got inadvertently bumped into 9x. So this happy camper closes this review with a 3 and a half star rating. Last night was my first visit here and I have to say I have a great experience. My sister in laws treated me and my other SIL for our birthdays. It's inside a beach hotel in seabright and doesn't look like much from the outside but when you walk upstairs to the dining area with a nice open layout and warm feeling when you enter the room .If you are lucky to get a table with a window of view of ocean it would make for a romantic evening. Let's start by saying the hostess that greeted you was very nice and welcoming. We were quickly greeted by our waitress Janise and we loved her . She was super friendly ( which we love) , attentive, and suggestive. She made our evening even more more better with the positive and welcoming spirit. In our book that's always a positive thing to have in a restaurant. It makes the dining experience even better. Food!! Appetizers OMG must try the hanging bacon it was delicious it had the perfect balance of sweet and salty. Oysters were delicious ( went down nice and smooth). The crab cake was delicious and I'm not a big crab cake fan there was a lot of crab and less filler which is a plus in my book . We also tried the turf (short rib)and surf (lobster)dumplings which were yummy the sauce they laid the dumplings in was delicious. Entree's!! I ordered the special which was a blackened Delmonico Ribeye which came with mashed potatoes, and roasted carrots. Although my steak wasn't cooked medium Rare it was more on the medium side I was willing to overlook it because I truly can say I enjoyed my meal. We also order the Halibut which was delicious (cooked to perfection) fish was soft in the middle with a nice crust on the top and accompanied with a medley of veggies and rock shrimp. The porkys pork chop was cooked medium and it was so delicious and so juicy and was accompanied with a apple chutney which compliments the pork so well. The bison short rib was melt in your mouth perfection. Perfectly season and meat was so tender . We also decided to try a few of the side dishes the hipster fries are a definite must try , they were so crispy and topped with bacon , peppers . We also had the angry broccoli which had a nice twist it was tossed in a semi spicy chili sauce. The also tried the spinach and mushrooms which complimented the pork and the steak very nicely. Dessert!! Must try if you like coconut ( toasted coconut layer cake ) so good and accompanied with mango sorbet which was delicious. We also tried cake by the ocean OMG it was so gooey and crunchy around the edges accompanied with a few sauces and some whip cream . The cappuccinos were a nice addition to cut the sweetness of the dessert and they were extra frothy. One of the best meals I've had in a while. My husband and I went for "Angry Hour" we sat at the bar area and our server was Tye- who was one of the best servers I have ever had- he was funny, knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive! We got a variety of apps including east coast oysters which were fresh and delicious, then we got the charcuterie for two which was filled with amazing meats, cheeses, nuts and fresh honey. It was great!! Our next addition was the chorizo and octopus kebabs which were beautifully presented! Then to top off our "angry hour" we got the burger and hipster fries! The fries were crispy and unique and unlike any fries I've ever had before... they also had great drink specials! We were stuffed at the end of the meal BUT Tye talked us into taking home the toasted coconut cake for dessert! The cake was amazing! We will for sure be back to DRIFTHOUSE soon! Came here after getting off the Seastrek for happy hour and was blown away! We got oysters, drinks and burgers for a very fair price and we were very happy with how great everything was! We sat at the bar in order to participate in happy hour, where Madison and Britt went out of their way to take care of us. There was also live music which was another nice plus.
