Hadn't been back in years but saw we had gift cards that had to be used before they performed close. Didn't think they would be that busy on a Wednesday night so even though they no longer take reservations online we went. Surprised it was packed, an hour wait. Luckily we got a bar area table and didn't have to wait. We were happily surprised that everything was fine. Our server was terrific, and my Prime Rib special was the rare I ordered. Soup and salad we ordered were very good. Wine by the glass was half off. Desserts were fine too, only wished I knew to order the soufflé before my dinner, it does take more than a half hour. First time here. Special Occasion. Give it 4-5 stars for ambiance and location and service. Food was above average. Sour dough really good. Prime rib was cooked too much on outside. The wood fired steak was tasty but a small slab. Waffle fries were okay, waitress suggested it but should've maybe gone with Brussels sprouts. Will return again to try their burgers and sandwiches and drinks at the bar. A pleasant experience first time around. read more

My second time here and the staff was great! I loved the view overlooking the river, as it made for a great backdrop. Each time I've been here, the food has been absolutely amazing. The drinks are mixed to perfection. I recommend going before it closes, as I was told that it was going to close in the near future. read more

Salt Creek closed on December 31 2025 have gone there since the day it opened it was a great place where we would take our clients for dinner. We have celebrated many anniversaries and birthdays celebratory dinners when I receive my real estate license so many great memories. Will truly be missed. It's rare to find a place where the service shines just as brightly as the food. We were extremely lucky to be seated in Rachel's section--her knowledge of the menu and her thoughtful approach tell me she's going places. We started with a rare tuna and avocado dish (Rachel's suggestion) that wasn't even on the menu--the flavors were spot on. We also had the fried burrata, which we chose ourselves, it's ok. For the main course, we went with the seabass, another one of Rachel's recommendations. Honestly, it was the best seabass I've ever had. Even the mashed potatoes were exceptional, asparagus perfectly cooked. We finished with the butter cake, which was, believe it or not, better than any I've had in the South. Do yourself a favor: ask to sit in Rachel's section, talk to her, and let her choose the dishes for you. You won't regret it. Love it read more

Usually love this restaurant. With the impending closure, to say service was poor is an understatement. Wait staff and runners were overwhelmed. Some tables waited 30 minutes for a drink to arrive from the bar. Our entrees were delicious (ribs and seabass). My grilled caesar salad arrived as torn up lettuce in a bowl which needed to be remade. My husbands salad arrived and we didn't have napkins or utensils. I have a gift card which needs to be used prior to the closure. If not for that, this would have been our final visit. Very sad. read more

First time here To start we had the sourdough loaf - good and big portions would recommend at least 3-4 people if you want to order we also go the stuffed jumbo shrimp which were amazing Dinner we wound up ordering sushi which was just okay probably wouldn't get this again because everyone else's entree's looked delicious and this left something to be desired. Got the infamous souflee it was good but so so rich and again probably need 3-4 people to order and enjoy and with just 2 of us it went to waste. Someone said, conventional wisdom says you go for the view not the food. If you can get a seat near the window the views of the Navesink are spectacular. The service is terrific - the food is overpriced for, at best, average food, small portions. I was hungry and looking forward to dinner - my 1 small crab cake over a pile of rice and 6 green beans left me unsatisfied. We went here yesterday evening for Christmas Eve Dinner. We've gone here several times in the past - both on holidays and otherwise - and we've always been happy with our meals, and enjoyed the experience. THE GOOD: We were seated promptly, and my Chilean Sea Bass was excellent. THE BAD: We had drinks, an appetizer (the bread), salad and entree. In short, we were done in 45 min, because each course was delivered before the previous one was finished. We barely started our appetizer, when the salads arrived. We pushed the bread aside quickly, so the server could put it down. I asked him to wait a second, but no such luck. The waitress had forgotten that I had asked for the salad dressing to be on the side - it was mixed in. When I was a third of the way through my salad, the entrees arrived. The server quickly asked if I wanted it boxed up. So much for enjoying eating it in the restaurant. I rarely push back, but I asked him why they didn't time the entrees out, so they arrived when we finished the salads. He shrugged his shoulders and apologized. Although my entree was great, my husband's was not. He had Prime Rib. He said it was chewy, hard to cut with a knife, and almost impossible to eat. Also, about the bread. When we moved the basket, there was a thick coating of fat left on the table. In hindsight I wished we hadn't gotten it. We had really been looking forward to this night. In the end it was obvious to us that either they were trying to turn over tables as quickly as possible, or there was a real lack of communication between service and the kitchen. When you pay close to $200 for dinner for two, we were expecting better. I doubt we'll go back anytime soon. read more

Sadly, this was to be our last meal at the Salt Creek Grill...because after 30 years they've been sold are changing hands at the end of 2025! Truly overpriced with mediocre quality food at best. Everyone raves about "the view". All well and good if you are seated near the windows. Any inboard seating you are staring at a 1/2 wall that separates interior from window seating so your view is of the people seated near you. We made the mistake of thinking this would be somewhat of an upscale experience. The loud atmosphere and overall quality landed as a very expensive notch or two above a "chain" type restaurant experience. read more
