My husband and I went to celebrate our anniversary at butchers Block and I would highly recommend this place for celebrations! The ambience was amazing. Everything was decorated for the holidays. There was low lights, candlesticks lit. very rustic vibe. I'm not gonna lie the sides were a bit underwhelming, the mushrooms are cooked in beef tallow so they're a bit. And the mac & cheese was just good but not spectacular. The beef was outstanding! Definitely the star of the show and what you come for at a restaurant like this we got two different cuts of steak and one was dry aged, which had a more earthier taste than the non-dried age steak. It was almost 4 pounds of meat and we could not finish it obviously so we took the rest home and even as leftovers they were still amazing. The mock tails that they had here were amazing even the sparkling mineral water. I want to figure out where they get it sourced from because it was so good! We were so full from dinner that we just had dessert, coffee, and the affogato was the perfect pairing for this dinner. They used a nutty, vanilla gelato and poured two shots of espresso over it, and it was another highlight of the dinner for me. Honestly, the only reason I would come back here would be for the steak and the staff. Immensely accommodating go above and beyond for you. We had placed a late order of truffle fries, and they brought it as an appetizer for us and for some reason, they brought us a second tray of fries for completely free. The waiter said that there was a mistake that was made, and he just wanted to rectify it for us not only that he gave us our coffee and dessert for free for our anniversary which I just thought was a thoughtful gesture. They also clean up and pack up the food for you so you don't have to get your hands dirty at all whatsoever. I don't think there was a time that my glass of water wasn't full to the brim because they were always coming to check up on us and fill up our glasses. Honestly, an amazing experience and I would be excited to try other options that they have on their menu!

Been here multiple times. Always a vibe. Lunch and/or dinner never disappoints. The service is always good. Food excellent. You can tell and literally see where your food is being made or coming from.

I'd heard so much about The Butcher's Block and how tough it can be to get a reservation, so you can imagine my excitement when I snagged a lunch reservation on my birthday! First off, the space is gorgeous, modern, rustic, and beautifully designed. Even the merch is great; my husband ended up buying a hat because it was that cool. We started with three appetizers: the meatballs, the spicy rigatoni and the calamari. They were okay, nothing particularly special, but the star of the show was definitely the 45-day dry-aged porterhouse. It was absolute perfection and ideal for sharing. We paired it with a side of Brussels sprouts, which were also really good. The drinks were a bit on the stronger side for my taste, so I didn't enjoy them as much, but we ended the meal with the tiramisu and it was delicious, light, creamy, and the perfect finish. Overall, I'd definitely come back to try another cut of steak and would probably skip the appetizers next time. I'd also love to check out the outdoor area in the summer. Make sure to make a reservation before you go, and enjoy!

Incredible steak and ambiance. Brick interior, with live fireplace, open kitchen along with butcher shop access. Very friendly staff.

this is truly the coolest restaurant I've ever been to. we went for lunch and shared some plates. Cacio e pepe was exactly perfect; I ate every bite. the caesar salad was huge, would serve 5+ people. The brussel sprouts ughhhh so yummy, hint of spice and the captain crunch was weirdly perfect with it. lastly, the drink I had, apple and cinnamon cocktail was incredible- I could have had 10 of them haha But the coolest part of this restaurant was the interior and exterior. They have multiple parrots inside!!! So cool. the outdoor space was also gorgeous. and our waiter was super knowledgeable about the history of the restaurant too, he answered all our questions:) I would love to come back for dinner - I need to try the mac and cheese! And for my meat eaters I was with, they loved their meals.

Recently visited The Butcher's Block for my anniversary and we had the best dining experience! From the time we entered the restaurant until we left the customer service was excellent. This was my first time here so I wasn't sure what to expect. We were greeted immediately and once we said it was our anniversary everyone made it feel so special and greeted us. It's just those little things! So after checking in were shown all the meat selections and given a brief run down. It was nice to see and get the explanation of their selection of beef. Once we were seated Sophia was our waitress and she was wonderful. She brought us a glass of champagne to celebrate our anniversary which was sweet and told us all the specials. We placed our drink orders and my fiance ordered an old fashioned which he enjoyed. And I had picked the moving principle. My drink was good and it was very light and refreshing. For appetizers we started with the meatballs. The meatballs were topped with ricotta and sauce and served with grilled sliced bread. This was delicious! I forgot to mention they had also brought out their cheese bread which was so good! A short time later, our entree was brought out. We had went with the ribeye and for sides we selected the block bolo and crispy potatoes. The ribeye was cooked perfectly and had a nice sear on the outside. They mentioned that the only salt the steak and no butter is added. And it def does make a difference! It was delicious and melted in your mouth. The block bolo was their house made pasta in their bolognese sauce. It was soo good as everyone recommended to get a pasta! No regrets there! The potatoes were nice and crisp. Everything tasted great! And of course we had leftovers. We ended our meal with dessert and shared the churro bowl with Dulce de leche ice cream and a strawberry cheesecake and a cappuccino for me. I have no words for the churro bowl....it was divine! If you must get a dessert....get the churro bowl! I loved the little candle on our dessert. It was a nice touch. Overall a wonderful experience! The customer service was great all around. If you are looking for a romantic dinner or somewhere to go for a special occasion this is it! The food is wonderful and great quality and fairly priced for a steakhouse. I will definitely be back again.

My first dining experience at The Butcher's Block was top notch! Before I even get to the highlights of my meal, I have to mention the ambience when dining. There's an open bar and beautiful outdoor seating. The inside is intimate with lots of candles. My friend and I ate outside. We were impressed with our server. He knew such detail about every cut of meat, entree, and drink from the front to the back of the menu. We stopped by the butcher who also explained all of the cuts of meat that were on the menu. This was incredibly helpful because we had an opportunity to see the portion size before ordering. We were also given background information about the preparation behind each cut. Our meal was divine from start to finish. We shared the sausage, peppers, broccoli rabe, and potatoes. There was a nice combination of sweet and hot sausage. The potatoes were extra crisp. Next, we shared the homemade spicy rig, which was cooked al dente. The spinalis steak had such a buttery texture and was cooked medium. We loved it! Perfect to share if you want a smaller portion. Lastly, we finished our meal with a pistachio cake with cream cheese frosting and espresso martinis. Our cocktails were flavorful and impressively garnished. Can't wait to come back and experience more of the menu!

Came here for my birthday dinner. Really nice ambiance. Wonderful service, but we were sat in a room with a few large tables so it was loud and a little chaotic but we still enjoyed. 3 of us shared the tuna crudo appetizer served over crispy rice & cucumber with a small jalapeño slice on each--it was amazing, a very large porterhouse steak which was to die for, wood fired Cauliflower, & spicy casarecce. Everything was so good. We finished off with strawberry cheesecake & unbelievable crème brûlée. So good. If you're sharing steak, ask for "family style" and they'll have it sent out all cut up for you. Would definitely come back!

My wife made a reservation here to celebrate our anniversary with our daughters and Son-in Laws (party of 6) last night. She was surprised we were able to get a reservation just a week out. What we didn't realize was that the reservation was for the "Live Fire Series" a new concept at The Block...as described on their website.... Live Fire Series For the month of August we are going to introduce a series of dinner events using our live fire grills only. Our goal is to create an outdoor space that transports you and gives a true dining experience that focuses on something unique. It will be a prix fixe menu, served family style in a beautiful casual setting outdoors only (**Weather Permitting**) We welcome you to bring your own but all guests will have full bar access. What a great evening this was! Last night was a beautiful evening, perfect for outdoor dining. We were seated at a picnic table (all seats were these) right by the outdoor "kitchen" area and had a ringside view of the amazing chefs and fire works! Our server Matt was awesome and explained the fixed menu and took our drink orders promptly (and we did bring our own bottle as well) as were enjoyed passed around crudités served by the many waiters and staff. The courses were all amazing (see menu copy in photos below). Two platters of every course were placed on our table to enjoy. We were not rushed and could ask for more at any time. Also, bottles of Saratoga Still water were placed on the tables and we were able to order as many bottles as we wanted (included in the fixed price). The only 2 complaints that we had were that many items were salty. Matt explained that they do use salt to bring out the flavor of their foods (vegetables, meats, sides etc.) instead of heavy sauces. Also, the steak was served a bit on the rare side. He explained that many preferred this level but they did accommodate us by cooking it to a more medium doneness. Everything was delicious and plentiful! Don't skip the homemade Cole slaw which was awesome! One of the owners greeted us at our table and explained the new concept to us and thanked us for trying. I thought service was a bit inconsistent. We had to ask for our lamb chops-they forgot us, and had to ask a few times for ice and sodas The meal ended with desserts served family style. Delicious crepes filled with caramel and topped with homemade shlag (whipped cream) and grilled pineapple topped with ice cream. Wow, what a meal and what a great vibe! I would definitely recommend trying this concept before it ends. Hopefully they can keep it going past August, weather permitting!

This was an incredible dining experience and this is coming from a vegetarian! This beautiful place tucked in a random location by a train yard transports you to what feels like a meat island paradise! The outside was beautiful that comes along with a fountain and patio. The inside is really nice that also has a nice little bar, a meat viewing area of both the raw meat and the cooking of it. The drinks and food were amazing with the tomahawk stealing the show. The group got a 3.5 pound steak and the entire group was in a state of heaven with it. Everyone was so happy! The rest of the food was good too, from the Cacio e Pepe to the Cap'n Crunch Brussels sprouts to the spicy sausage, everything was cooked to perfection. The cocktails they had as well as the wines on the list perfectly complimented the meal throughout. The service was fantastic and very attentive. From the hosts, to the servers, to the food runners, everyone was amazing. One note, every server seemed like they were a model which really stood out to our group. The main "downside" is the price as it is a lot but it is totally worth it for a special occasion. The bathroom situation was weird, especially the men's, as there is a guy to hand you towels and he was directly facing the urinal. Also, when we took to go our food, they take the containers to the back and we noticed some meat was not included in the packaging. Overall, I definitely recommend coming here at least once for the entire experience, notably if you are a meat lover!

I finally got a chance to try this place after all these years . I remember the first time me and my husband tried to eat here they were tiny spot and it was hard to get in here ! I was completely mesmerized by how big the place has grown and how beautiful the space has become . They have this beautiful rustic look about them and the decor for the fall season looked amazing. They have a large amount of seating areas throughout the restaurant with several bar areas . The outside bar is a wonderful gathering area especially great for the warmer months . Service was amazing the staff were dressed comfortable so gave a more at home feeling even though some guest are dressed to the nines . Staff were very attentive and suggestive of menu items . Everything we chose to eat for the night was delicious between the appetizers and the steak ! They offer nightly specials which all sounded delicious. We tried the charred oysters and tuna crispy rice ( delicious) . We ordered the bone in dry aged steak medium rare which we shared it was cooked to perfection along with asparagus and crispy fingerling potatoes ( heaven ) . For dessert we ordered the churro bowl ( holy cow that thing was delicious and huge. Also the Banana bread which was okay . I was originally told it was banana bread pudding but when it was served it definitely was banana bread it was okay but the churro bowl more than made up for it . This place is definitely a place to try for dinner and some cocktails. Thanks for a wonderful Birthday celebration!

Ask the Community - The Butcher's Block

Can anyone tell me about the cost of a tomahawk steak ? Ty?

I would say they typically run about $175 at this restaurant. The food is absolutely amazing and worth every dime!

Is there any dress code? Are jeans/sneakers okay?

    Pretty sure anything goes

Is there outdoor seating outside after Labor day?

I believe there is, both covered and on open air patio. Might want to double check as this could change due to staffing.

    Is this no longer byob?

It's a full service bar now

Trying to get in touch with the restaurant to modify a reservation. Any idea on how to do so? I left an inquiry through their website, no response. And the reservation is for tomorrow, haven't received a confirmation yet. Any idea?

I don't think they really care about their customers. They don't answer the phone, they don't answer email, you only choice is to visit the restaurant and handle it in person.

When do you list your availability for reservations on you web site , one a week, month or?

    Never

Do they charge for not showing up for a reservation?

Yes they do unless you cancel ahead of time

Do you offer valet parking on all nights that you are open?

They did on a Wednesday night

Do you need a reservation for lunch?

No you do not. Lunch is from 12-3 and you can walk in

How is their gluten free options?

    None

    Is it still BYOB?

No, it's not BYOB. They have a pretty extensive selection.

    Can you come without reservations?

I do not believe so. The place is constantly booked and difficult to get into. If you get in there will be somewhat of a wait but I can assure you it is well worth it.

What's the lunch menu? Same as dinner or just soups and sandwiches?

Burgers, steak sandwiches, salad, and anything from the butcher shop

Do they have a corkage fee?

Theoretically every establishment has a corkage fee. All top tier restaurants have a corkage fee. Just make sure to bring something better than two buck chuck and a 1.5 of Cavit 😂😎

How does one make a reservation ?? Do I literally have to go down there to make a reservation?

Don't waste your time, it's all hype that place and the owner is beyond rude.

Why does the phone number listed not work? How am I supposed to make a reservation?

Literally when you are there for one reservation.... You make your next.

How does one get a reservation ? Like a real one... Your reservation system is a no go and your phone number doesn't work..

    Go in person.

Why are their no hours listed on their website or on here ? What time are they open till? I've called a few times no one answered just rings & rings

Currently they're under renovations. They're going to reopen around May/June 2022.

It seems as if they are not open for dinner service, based upon their website. When will they actually be open for business?

To be determined. The restaurant is going under a renovation, no update on a date to reopen. Follow them on social media for updates.

This place doesn't answer the phone has no instagram or twitter I want to make reservations do they not want business?

They have been closed since Feb for renovations.

When I cut into that chicken, the juices were running through each and every piece! It was so full of flavor that I do not think I will ever be able to eat rotisserie chicken cooked anywhere else ever again. The coleslaw and macaroni salad were made perfectly. Not too much mayonnaise, not too dry, not too salty, just perfect. Next visit I will have to give the potato salad a try. The baked beans were just to die for!!! I only purchased a half pound which was plenty for a couple of meals for two of us, but I will definitely purchase a larger serving size the next time I go. That's how much I enjoyed those beans. How best to complete a dinner? A great homemade apple pie. Moving on to the chicken with dumplings soup. I was so looking forward to it because everywhere that I have read about this soup it had been described as a wholesome comfort food that everyone would enjoy. It flopped in flavor and it was nothing more than chicken stock with dumplings. I thought it would have had some chicken, vegetables and dumplings in it. So now I know. They sure know how to cook a juicy, tasty, tender chicken!!!!! Their side dishes and homemade pies are wonderful. I am so glad that I finally got to try their food. I highly recommend that you do as well.
