The one time I rented through Avis, they stole literally stole gas from me after giving me an empty car and reneging on a promise to compensate me for the gas when I returned the full car I am still contemplating going to small claims court about that. I am recommending Enterprise to all family and friends; and warning them to stay away from Avis.

I was put on the spot about making a decision on insurance and with a "better be safe than sorry" I agreed to pay for 9 days. My car was not ready after those 9 days and nobody called me to inform me that even I signed and paid which means agreed to 9 date of insurance, I would continued to be charged for insurance - even i obviously now didn't consent to the optional insurance. I had to find out myself to which I was then told I had to come in in person to get a new contract. After the rental car was returned I was then charged for toll by plate even I had a Sunpass the whole time. A few days later I also was charged for the extra days of insurance I never asked for and it was kept in the dark about because that seems the trick, "keep quiet and let's secretly make the customer be forced to pay". As I had a new credit card by then they refused to take a payment over the phone and told me once again to come in. I was then told that it I wouldn't come in asap I was going to be taken to collections. So basically nobody was in any rush to ever tell me I was continued to be charged but they were quickly to tell me I would be taken to collections if I didn't pay asap. I don't live close by any location so nobody here thinking about the time and cost of all this nonsense. EDIT: I have to add another gangster move by them. I contacted them I had a Sunpass so the toll charges are incorrect, however days after this still went ahead and charged my card!!! This was after we arrived in FL, with no previous warning. So we get driven to the 7600 West Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway location, were met by Manager Matt and his second-in-command Alex, and after showing our Airlines itinerary, were told it wasn't enough, needed to furnish a receipt for a utility bill showing home address and other info. Who carries that stuff around when you're on vacation? Finally after digging through correspondence on my phone, came up with a gas bill. After Matt looked at it, he said, "... there is a balance due of $102.26 on here, so this is not valid to us." He then referred us to the dogeared copy of their restrictions, which reiterated the two forms of ID required by the branch. At our home branch, where we have rented vehicles for years, all this info is prominently displayed in the Enterprise Rent-A-Car system. We made that clear to the Manager but he was having none of it. His response was a surreal version of, "Vere are your papers!" We were so demoralized by the treatment we got from this Enterprise branch that we left there in a daze. Instead of taking us back to our place 5 minutes away via the same courtesy car that had picked us up, they called a cab, who charged us $15. We will be reporting this behavior to the higher-ups at Enterprise and recommending to our home base office that they warn folks traveling to Florida about it.

For something that can be so impactful to families, a company that cares about its customers could send a text or email warning you that they're giving your car rental away. Another way to show you care about customers is to state very clearly -- you have twenty nine minutes to pick up a car rental from Alamo, or they will give your car away. We booked our rental online about a week before traveling. The in person check in process was a breeze. It only took around 15 minutes in and out. They have a clean bathroom. The parking lot is pretty small and they told us which rental spot to find our car in and it was there and ready for us. They gave us a free upgrade or they just have larger SUVs then they do in CA. The SUV was very clean and was a smooth ride. We opted out of their insurance as we called our Insurance company and they will cover it for us. We returned the car to the Tampa Airport and that was a smooth return.
