DO NOT TRUST THIS LOCATION!!!!! I purchased a Toyota Highlander. I pointed out a few parts broken and was assured that if I went to their chosen mechanic shop, they would take care of the parts. Well, that didn't happen. They told the mechanic to run it through the extended warranty company. The warranty company denied the parts and so did this DriveTime. I am now going to be out of pocket for the replacement parts after being promised they would be replaced by DriveTime. There's also a funky smell that has progressively gotten worse since i purchased the vehicle as well. again, was told to have diagnosed by their chosen shop who said it was water in the vents from being pressure washed. I didn't believe this lame story and did some digging myself. I found what appeared to be dried VOMIT inside the door panel, in the dash, steering column and center console. Wanna know who cares? Not DriveTime. Even their corporate office told me to piss off. Stay away from this company.....I wish I would have. read more

A few months ago, I purchased a truck from Ron Russell at DriveTime Glendale. Despite the truck being absolutely filthy inside at the time of purchase, we decided to move forward with the sale, believing the condition was something we could address ourselves. Prior to visiting the dealership, we were quoted a certain monthly payment online. However, during the sales process, Ron Russell aggressively pressured us into purchasing additional products, including GAP insurance, a Vehicle Service Contract, and LoJack. As a result, our monthly payment increased by more than $200 above the amount we had originally been led to expect. We expressed concerns about the added cost, and Ron specifically told us that we could cancel these products at a later date if we decided we did not want them, and that doing so would lower our monthly payment. After speaking directly with the finance company, we learned this was false. We were informed that cancelling these products would not reduce our monthly payment in any way; it would only be applied toward the principal balance of the loan. We feel we were misled in order to close the sale and purchase products we may not have otherwise agreed to. The discrepancy between what we were told and the reality of the financing terms is unacceptable and reflects poorly on the integrity of the sales process. We are extremely disappointed with this experience and believe DriveTime should address these deceptive sales practices. read more

I had the car exactly two weeks. In that short span the door handle has completely come off. It was glued into place. I'm not sure what happened with the door that it had to be glued back together. The low pressure tire light also came on. So I took it to get checked out and the guy told me that my tires were from 2017, and most likely the original tires to the car. He then tells me that they are not safe and need to be replaced asap. Really disappointed. Their inspection process is obviously a complete flop. I will not buy another car here. read more

Do NOT purchase a vehicle from DriveTime especially from this location. My experience has been nothing short of a nightmare. The vehicle I purchased had so many issues that I had no choice but to return it. The Carfax report they provided was inaccurate, and I'm still waiting for my deposit to be released. Every time I contact my bank, I'm told that DriveTime has not released the funds. What made the experience even more frustrating was the customer service. When I asked for the corporate phone number so I could escalate my concerns, I was simply told to "Google it." That level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable, especially when a customer is already dealing with a serious issue. I've spent more time chasing answers than receiving help. Unfortunately, all the reviews about being sold a bad car are accurate. Drive time claims that they do a very thorough inspection of the car before it's approved for sale, however that can't be true with the amount of issues that we've been having within 30 days of having the vehicle. They feel like they get out of responsibility by saying they "can't control what goes wrong on a used car after the inspection", but there's no way that they couldn't have noticed these things that were wrong with the car during the inspection. It's unfortunate that a former "marine" is working for such a dishonest company and selling bad cars to other vets. I know I'm not a mechanic but from what I understand, an oil leak shouldn't be happening, and that is a sign of failing components. Well, the 30 day warranty insurance company has decided that that's not proof of failure, and they're refusing to cover that fix. If we had known what we know now, we definitely would not have gone to drive time to purchase this vehicle. It's been to the mechanic three times now and it's been a fight with the insurance each time. There's no compassion there. There's no sympathy, they simply do not care. I myself would have a really hard time working for a company that has no integrity, and I would be ashamed of myself quite honestly if I stayed there. So do you and your family a favor do not go purchase your vehicle from this place. They do not truthfully certify their vehicles before they should be sold. Even though they will look you in your face and say that everything is perfect with the vehicle. I know that we are just one family and our one tiny review isn't going to make a difference, or close drive time down, stop people from buying there, or turn them into honest human beings. But hopefully if you're doing your research well enough before choosing a dealership to purchase from, you will think twice before buying from here and/or bring your mechanic along to review the vehicle before purchasing because you cannot trust drive time at this location. read more

If I could rate DriveTime a zero, I absolutely would. I purchased a vehicle from them in September. On the day of the purchase, the salesperson disclosed only one thing: that there was a "minor recall" on a part in the engine. That was all they claimed they were required to tell me. What they didn't tell me is that if this recall isn't addressed immediately, the vehicle can lose power, and going uphill the car will drop to 35 mph with no way to accelerate. That is not a "minor" issue -- it's a safety concern. I contacted Customer Relations, and their only response was that I'm past the five-day window and that it's the buyer's responsibility to research recalls, even though they were actively selling the vehicle to me at that time. The recall still hasn't been repaired, and I'm now waiting on Ford. I will never recommend DriveTime to anyone. I am super not happy about my purchase. I bought a vehicle here less than a month ago. The check engine light came on immediately after my limited warranty expired which was only 1,500 miles. The car needs a catalytic converter and a water pump which is not covered under my extended warranty. Purchased a used 2014 Ram Tradesman truck in November 2019. Had check engine light when first saw, claimed it was fixed, but did it again by the time I drove home to Mesa. Silver Rock (Drive Time puppet) told me to take truck to Brake Master near my work (on Cave Creek Road-85022). They claimed minor error. Claimed it was fixed, but came back the next day. After several hours, claimed everything was fixed, and claimed it was a technician (theirs) error and a loose connection. Lasted 1 week (after by-by warranty was over). Midas on 7/21/20 had to replace 2 ignition coils and all 6 spark plugs. 4 were original, 1 was bad and 1 was an oddball and did not match. Very poor quality work was done, and Drive Time was ultimately responsible for crappy performance and honesty. read more

Immunosuppressed Beware - Glendale Drivetime Lies About Wearing Mask If Requested We are a very immune suppressed household that is at very high risk for severe COVID-19. Hence, we have been very nervous about car shopping during an ongoing pandemic that has killed millions worldwide, many with suppressed immune systems just like us. As of now, we personally know multiple people currently hospitalized with COVID who have our same health conditions. Therefore, we called ahead and asked about masks. They themselves said we don't require salespeople to wear masks, but we are always happy to put them on if you request it. We didn't take just one person's word for this, but asked it again on another phone call the day before we headed down. Same response. We asked how we should go about requesting this. They said call when you're on your way and request it, we'll meet you with a mask. We called on our way and made the request. No problem, they said. We arrive five minutes later wearing our masks, locate the car we are interested in in the lot (the same car we mentioned in yesterday's and today's phone call), and wait for someone to come out. After several minutes, we call the lot to request that someone come out with a mask to show us the car. While they are saying that they will send someone out with a mask, a salesperson arrives WITHOUT A MASK. We share our request that they wear one. Instead of immediately agreeing and running on in to get one, THEY ARGUE. "Our policy doesn't require a mask." We explain our knowledge of this and our prior request that they wear one. They say they'll "CHECK INTO IT." After several minutes, they do not appear, and we are about to head out. Right then, they return wearing a mask with the key for the car we were interested in. We stay and look at it and request to take it on a test drive. As the salesperson gives directions for the test drive, he plays with his mask (making it less effective as he moves it around under his nose, away from his mouth, etc.). Nervous, we start to back out, and he treats us like school children. "HOLD ON, I'M STILL TALKING." We're so nervous, we forget to ask him why it the "PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF" light is on. The person sitting in the passenger seat tries getting out and back in, the light remains as is. We decide to try driving it around the lot to see if it will correct itself, it does not, so we park again and get out. The same salesperson returns and asks if we have a question. We share about the airbag. His response is that he's "NEVER seen an airbag sign in ANY vehicle before" and that we should "research this." We explain that we have the same make car that has just such a sign, but it of course registers passengers correctly. Because the worker completely removes his mask while telling us this, one of us decides to comment on this. These are our words, "By the way, we called ahead prior to coming, as we were told to do so, to request that the salesperson wear a mask. We were told that they'd be sure to do so." He interjects, "I put one on. But it's not our policy." Note, as he says this his mask is completely on his chin, not covering his nose or mouth." Our response, "It would be good customer service to wear one when requested." At this he got very angry. We then added, "You should realize that some of your customers have suppressed immune systems and are high risk." We turn around to leave, but he continues to argue. Then, his manager comes out and yells, "It'd be best to part ways." We say, "That's what we're trying to do." This seems to cool off the salesperson because he then stays quiet and enters the building with the manager. Please note that while we raised our voice, talking from several feet away while wearing N95 masks, we never once said anything rude nor used any bad words. While we did not get names of anyone, here are their descriptions: the salesperson was a young hispanic man (20s or early 30s), slightly chubby, with black hair and black beard. I found myself needing to do a lease with them. The car appeared fine but began shaking when I took it on the freeway. I went to their contracted mechanic 3 times. To shorten the story, the car had a bad front tire that drivetime refused to pay to be fixed. It was dangerous and pointless not to fix this issue they were well aware of on a car they own. I seriously hope they change the tire before leasing the car out to somebody else like myself who was between a rock and a hard place. I will never do business with this company again regardless of how nice the staff is. I will deter as many people as I can from doing business with this company as well. If you are thinking about buying a car from Drivetime, take the car to an outside mechanic for a thorough inspection. The 5 point inspection is not something that you can trust apparently, because I started having problems with my car just a few weeks after I bought it and only one thing was covered by the warranty. The check engine light came on (carbon cleanout=not covered), the brakes were squeaking (brake replacement=not covered) broken motor mount (future repair=not covered), brakes are making a horrible noise (future brake booster replacement=not covered) starter went out (covered!) and today the battery died (not covered.) None of things were MY wear and tear. These things had to have been present within the car when I bought it. All of these things, except the battery (which should have been new) presented in a matter of 7 weeks. I have spent $500 dollars on repairs and I will have to shell out $1,100 before the end of the year. Not how I wanted to spend my extra money. You will find that when you are at the desk purchasing the vehicle, the warranty company and Drivetime are very closely related, but when you want to make a claim, Drivetime will throw the warranty company under the bus....immediately. Get your car checked out immediately and either bring the car back or have the stuff fixed within the first 5 days. read more

Worst customer service ever! Made an appointment at the Glendale Az location, arrived on time but was told there was no one to help me at that time. They had me wait 45 minutes without even coming to talk me, even though there were 4 of them just standing around. One of the receptionists came over and tried to have a sales man help me, but he just rolled his eyes and huffed and kept walking. I had a great experience with Drivetime, right up until I took my 2005 Volvo V50 to the shop over this past weekend. I purchased this vehicle during the first week of April 2013, and by the last week of the month, we knew something was very wrong. Drivetime convinces you to use their services over other dealerships, due to a "multi-point inspection" and warranty that they ensure will result in only quality vehicles. The dealer we went to at 51st/Glendale in Glendale, AZ told us all about the 30 day warranty - "If anything at all comes up during your first month, just take it into the shop and we will cover it 100%". He left out the part about the 1000 mile limit. It seems that our fully-inspected Volvo has some HUGE, GLARING ISSUES. Namely, it needs a completely new transmission ($3000, covered by the limited warranty), a new PVC valve ($500), and a new Fuel Pressure Gauge ($300). Somehow, Drivetime's mechanic team missed almost $4000 worth of issues with the car on their "inspection". Note that this is nearly 1/3 the cost of the vehicle. They are attempting to blanket themselves in a layer of protection, and avoid liability, by engaging a company named Avarex to handle the warranty work. Avarex is denying our repair claim on everything beyond the transmission due to the 1000 mile limit that we were never told about in the dealership at 51st/Glendale by manager Marko, another manager Regina, or the sales rep that sold us the vehicle. DT Customer Service has basically told my wife and I to go jump in a lake - they take no responsibility for missing all of these huge, glaring issues in their inspection, and have no interest in retaining a two-time customer who they've made thousands of dollars off of (and probably would have made more off of in the future). So, we are left with a car in need of serious repairs, and a company that won't cover these repairs less than a month after selling us the car. I understand that it is not directly the dealership's problem, but an endemic issue throughout the company, due to multiple issues. If Drivetime chooses to continue upon this path, they will not only lose our business in the future, they will lose the good recommendation of two customers that have pointed multiple people in their direction. My sister-in-law went to DT on our recommendation, as did two of our family friends. The ball is in your court now, Drivetime. read more

If you cannot afford the car then they have a Lease to Own program which makes it to you have 30 months and you own the car if you want but it is month to month and at 10 months they give you money toward another car or you can put it into your car up to you. Now that they have a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty, the car is covered for quite awhile. I was so excited to buy a car from here. Needed to build my credit and they helped me out so nicely. At first....found the car i loved, had to wait a day to get it. Went in the next day before work to get my car and the dealer took it home with him the night before and forgot to bring the keys back. Whatever. Got my car and was in love. Until my husband came home and noticed we had an exhaust leak. Tried the warranty and they gave us a lot of hemming and hawing and a runaround. Then the oil light went off, traction control went out and i had to fix those. Still have an exhaust leak and feel like i get laughed at when i question my warranty. Its been almost a year now and my credit is up so i went to try to trade my car in. What a load of shit that was. My beautiful car is worth $6000 at most and i owe about 20,000. No one will let you out of your loan at Bridgecrest and i am upside down on my loan. The ironic thing is that when my husband told the dealer about his concerns, the dealer told him he was a family man as well and would never put someone in the situation we are in now. So, yes, Drive time is wonderful about getting you into a beautiful car. But do your research on the car you want. Look at the Kbb value and bring a mechanic with you or take it to one before you sign. I wish i had which is why i am warning others. read more
