These chocolates are so pretty! I love how the decorations are applied, as well as how the displays are arranged. The truffle flavors inside are creative and strong, rather than refined, and the texture is thick, almost like a marzipan-buttercream. Sting. The reaction we get from feedback from a customer we might not expect. But that sting can be turned into something constructive or helpful at times. We love chocolate and make it a small hobby to try any and all chocolates, whether local or your standard new development from Hershey. So, stopping at a recommended chocolate store is a must. The store is nice and clean. It has a welcoming vibe and presents its chocolates the standard way of glass and case. I selected about half a dozen nut-filled chocolates varying from milk to dark chocolate. When I got home, I took them down! My impression was that the milk chocolate was some of the best milk chocolate I have ever eaten. Hands down. But there was something missing in the dark chocolate. I know my chocolate and my levels. The darker and purer results in more of a bitter and natural taste from the seeds, aka coco bean, but this dark chocolate was off. It wasn't that natural dark chocolate flavor, nor sweet. It could have been my batch, but the dark chocolate wasn't for me but. The milk chocolate delivers and that is what I would order again. read more

As if it's not enough to drive through the stunning Mesa and Grand Mesa, be greeted by the quirky little town of Cedaredge, you then come upon this itty bitty little magical store which you could easily (and unfortunately) miss if you're not careful! Moral of the story- go to Drost's if you're in the area! Their chocolate is sooo delish! High quality chocolates and cute little shop with funny T-shirts and gifts too! read more

Drost's is the absolute BEST! We live over in the Denver area and this is a must-stop for us every time we come over to the Western Slope. It is far better than anything we can find by us. We love supporting family-owned and operated gems like this... Especially when they are as nice as these guys. They are so kind and always remember us! The best kept secret is that they have THE most delicious, 100% homemade candied orange peels!! They can only make them in small quantities but they are to-die-for. We always buy them out. This last time we even called ahead to have them reserve a whole batch for us :) read more

While driving a 75 mile loop over Grand Mesa from Grand Junction down Highway 65 to Delta then back to Grand Junction we passed a shop that we were recommended to stop and check out. Drost's Chocolates in Eckert, Colorado is a cute shop serving ice cream treats, handmade chocolates, fudge and other creations as well as a great museum of old cash registers. Their sign out front advertises Sundaes, Splits, Shakes, Sodas, Cones, Parfaits, Floats, Drostys, Coffee, Espresso and Cappuccino. The interior is tight with counters bursting with homemade chocolates as you walk in. As your taste buds shop and pour over the treats, shelves full of souvenir goods and gifts also pull you in closer. After a chocolate overload a few steps down then turns into a long corridor serving ice cream and other frozen treats inside a museum of beautiful old cash registers. A few small tables and benches are available to sit down to eat or play a game of chess while taking in the surrounding history. The walls, shelves and every nook and cranny are full of cash registers and relics from the past. After browsing the museum and looking at everything, we bought a dish of ice cream for the road. Chatting with the employees, a conversation of our dogs waiting in the air conditioned car came up. They gave us a broken sugar cone full of dog treats to make sure the pups were also happy as we loaded up and left Eckert. Drost's is a must stop for anyone passing by as a visitor. read more

We received a variety box of Drost"s Chocolates for Christmas and have been limiting ourselves to one each day, knowing that if we didn't have that "rule" we would eat the entire box in one sitting. The variety is amazing, texture and taste is delectable. It goes without saying that the hand dipped chocolates are made with care and love. Oh my gosh! Do yourself a favor and stop! This is fine chocolate. No paraffin. All created by hand . Homemade peanut butter cups. Truffle variety. Buttercream. Toffee. Brittle too. All sorts of interesting uses for all things yummy found here like dessert toppings, sugar free items, honey, local art. Top notch. I mean amazing! I'm so glad we live within driving distance. Smooth, luscious mouth feel homemade chocolates! Caramel chewy and tender. Mango, coconuts pistachio brittle- nice combo, yum! Coconut mounds- I could eat about 7. If u want delicious chocolates or want to buy someone something special and it involves chocolate- go here, hands down. read more

This place is still one of my favorites but I can't make the same claims about it being such a good deal anymore. Yeowch. Delicious but expensive! Still worth it but the prices have increased quite a bit since the place has changed ownership. The cash registers are gone now, too, and they don't sell ice cream anymore, FYI. read more

We just happened into this place and what a find! Their chocolates were delectable... and so reasonably priced for homemade chocolate! They had an amazing assortment, as well! We didn't get a chance to try the ice cream, but the portions they were doling out seemed generous! Will have to try it again, next time we're driving through CO! This is the best chocolate shop my wife and I have ever been to. We come over from Denver just to go to Drost. The owners always have the usual favorites plus something new they have concocted. Salted caramels and maple butter creams usually do not last long after a visit. Put Drost on your must visit list when you are on the western slope. You won't be sorry. read more

Amazing hand crafted chocolates! All are hand dipped works of art. The owner and her daughter were working the counter....so friendly. We purchased a wide variety of candies and each and every one was delicious. This will definitely be a stop we will go out of our way to make whenever we come to the Western Slope. read more

This place has the best buttercreams ever! And the fudge is to die for. I live in Grand Junction, but the drive over is well worth it. If you find yourself on Hwy 65 make sure you do yourself a favor and stop into this shop. this place is better than starbucks for 1/4 the price. plus unlike starbucks it has a cool little mini museum inside full of pretty much any old cash register through out the 20th century(so long as it weighs 3 tons haha) and a few other things such as civil war relics. they're coffee is seriously more delicious than star bucks. they also sell ice cream, many different flavors and of course many different types of absolutely DELICIOUS chocolate that you can match with various gifts in the store. they make the chocolate behind the counter so you can observe the process. drosts employees are also very friendly. overall drosts is great, 10 stars! read more
