We've been looking forward to checking this place out since learning r that Pine Valley was going to get a neighborhood brewery. We went last night with some friends and enjoyed the beer. I had the apricot blonde. It was a solid beer, well balanced, crisp and light. They had a bunch of IPAs from guest breweries and my husband had their IPA and said it was pretty good. The decor is nice but it's when you compare all the other breweries in town it's missing something. It's great if you just want to drink a beer but it's pretty basic otherwise. Maybe it's just in its infancy but having a food truck or games or trivia night might add to the appeal. We'll certainly go back since the beer was good and it's nice to have something so close.

Easy to find, plenty of parking, indoor and outdoor seating, both of which are dog friendly! Service was super friendly. Very kid friendly, as they even have toys for them to play with. Good selection of beers, but IPAs seem to be their specialty. Nice, welcoming environment. Definitely recommend!

My last name is Trout so it was kind of obligatory that I check out this new-ish (2021) brewery. It's located at the end of a strip mall. There is maybe one table outside, seats at the bar, and additional tables inside. The sun was very bright coming inside, so don't feel shy about pulling down the shade along the wall. I got their prickly nectar sour which wasn't bad, and my friend said his IPA was fine.

Cool new brewery in the Pine Valley area. We came in shortly after they opened and got the low down on the name... the brewers had a boat with a fish on it. Some people said it looked like a drum and others said a trout. The DrumTrout was born! Cheers to that! They had 4 beers, a rosè seltzer and 7 guest taps. I really liked their Apricot blonde and the Fish Widow ipa. Looking forward to coming back!

This place is a gem! The animal rescue I volunteer for had an event today and DrumTrout hosted. It is a small place on the corner of a shopping center surprising close to my house. It was bright and inviting. We were greeted immediately with enthusiasm. Not only were they open and friendly with the rescue and but the tiny place was packed and they made sure to greet everyone the same. They have a nice seating area outside and have food trucks often. They have local beers and, of course, pet friendly! I will be going back.

Cool little brewery, perfect for families. Right in a shopping center with a decent amount of their own brews. They also have non alcoholic and wines to choose from. Tons of kids snacks and toys to play with and indoor/outdoor seating. My favorite beers were the porter and ESB. Little far for us but when we are nearby, we will definitely pop back in.

The under-21 policy is divisive but there are plenty of good nearby places to bring kids (Bend,…read moreOTP, etc...) They don't regularly have food so confused why you'd bring small kids anyways. I like the atmosphere. It feels like a casual bar and for that alone it's worth going to. And even when they allow kids during the days they have a section that prohibits them which is surprisingly relaxing. Nice to sit with our dog and relax. Beers are decent. Some are a little spendy but I once you get used to the specials the prices are more than reasonable. Sundays are awesome.

I can understand why this might attract some people to this place but it's completely excluding a whole group of people who might be able to go out without their kids. Not everyone has babysitters or would love to go out with their whole family as a unit. Also what if you're meeting a friend group that doesn't have kids and you can't come in because you have a child? Having young kids can feel difficult enough but taking away a space where they can be safe in an open green area while you can enjoy other adults and a nice beer is just hurtful. Also they often say come back in the afternoon but most parents with young kids know that's when they nap.

We found through a search, and wandered into Flytrap Brewing this past weekend for the first time…read more Located at 319 Walnut Street. The space, equal parts cozy taproom and shaded beer garden, feels both vibrant and homey. If you're reading this and asking yourself what is the region's native icon, the Venus Flytrap - we have catching up to do. Read history below the review. The mood was easygoing. Two staff members, juggling orders with grace, kept the taps moving and the vibe relaxed. We had the Oatmeal Porter (dark, smooth, layered with chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel) And the Brook's Mulberry Lemonade (a blend of house-made lemonade and beer, fermented with mulberries hand-picked from Brook's garden). Both were super delicious. Flytrap Brewing sits tucked in a quiet Wilmington neighborhood, and it feels like it belongs there. The thoughtful drinks, easy crowd, and unpretentious energy, we will for sure be back! History: The Venus flytrap, scientifically known as Dionaea muscipula, is native to a limited area of the southeastern United States. So respected in North Carolina, removing or poaching them from public lands or private property is a Felony. Purchasing them or growing yourself is praised.

I don't know if Flytrap has a new brewer or what has happened to their beer or choices in beer styles but for quite some time now I have not found a beer from them worth stopping in for. It's extremely disappointing because they used to have some of the best beer in town but not anymore.
