    Drunken hen platter

Firstly, great customer service, decent prices. The drunken hen Sando is tasty , mozzarella taste fresh and the seeded roll was soft and toasted, nice portion sandwich overall. 8/10 Beef empanadas .....were well done and stuffed, but too much cheese which made it difficult to taste anything else than the salty cheese flavor, 6/10. 3/$10 I ate half of 1 and will probably discard the other 2 and half pieces. Beef stew....just bland, oily hot water with chunks of beef and bits of carrots, it's like they forgot to season it. Disappointed that was a product they decided to put on their menu. Needs more r&d. 1/10. This was like $8, it's going in the trash. Pernil platter with yellow rice and beans....pork was seasoned and shredded 7/10..... rice n beans was meh regular...6/10.... Although the portions was plenty, not skimpy at all. This was $14 Coleslaw tastes store bought with extra sugar added $4, trash

You guys gotta get over to Drunken Hen! If you haven't been yet, you're really missing out. The food is spectacular, adult beverages are now available, the staff is SO sweet and accommodating.. couldn't ask for a better establishment to take over the property so many of us Mayfair natives knew well. (They even kept some of the same decor!) They also have some really cool additions on the horizon. Can't wait for that announcement and to have many more visits soon. They're located at 6235 Frankford Ave. (the old Grey Lodge )

Great food & service. So happy to have a new small business in the neighborhood that serves fresh food.

Pollo Campero - The 4-piece fried chicken made instead with two and two grilled chicken (which I actually liked better).

My sister and husband liked their classic chicken sandwich but both agree that it needs to come with some kind of spread like mayo or maybe a house sauce to kick the roll up a notch. I also had an empanada on my ride home as a treat and boy was it - hot, crispy, and flavorful. I also like that the prices are kept down some by making a drink optional especially with the prices of soft drinks in Philly. The gentleman who took my order was very nice, patient, and helpful. The atmosphere is like a traditional fast food vibe. In the area? Check Them Out! I look forward to a return trip for their fried chicken, their unique sides, and their chicken bowl :0)

I found out that Pollo Campero recently opened and wanted to check it out. After doing a search on…read morethe chain, they advertise that they were among the top ten fast food chicken restaurants in the nation. The chicken I tried was decent, but not necessarily a big favorite of mine. Located in a former KFC which was closed for years and a Boston Market that never came to fruition, when I drove by a little before 2pm it was like a major event with traffic blocking Frankford Avenue, and a long line out the door. I decided anyway that if people like this place that much, I should wait it out. I parked my car (DO NOT PARK AT 7/11 or AutoZone - you'll get towed) and got in line. By the time I got to the entrance door, the line had grown even larger and snaked around the restaurant. Once inside, it was a mini amusement park ride with another line before getting to the cashier. Total time in line for me was about 75 minutes. If I took a shot with the drive through, it may have been a bit shorter, but I wanted to check out the inside of the place. Pollo Campero must be huge with the Hispanic population. I think I was the only non-Spanish speaker. The long line was well behaved and thankfully the weather was quite good with a full breeze. The restaurant had multiple staff in safety vests to direct traffic and one was at the door making sure that nothing got out of hand by restricting people entering the place. The clean place was packed with families, and the buzz was palpable. The two cashiers were asking people lots of questions and the young and friendly cashier I had was very soft spoken which required me to ask her to repeat a lot of the questions. I ended up getting a bunch of different things just to try and get a flavor of many different foods. I got a 4-piece mixed grilled and fried chicken, a chicken sandwich, and a 3-piece empanadas. Sides with everything I chose the rice, beans, coleslaw, and plantains. Overall, I liked all the food (I didn't eat all of it, just tried) and will have some for later meals. The fried chicken was crispy and I liked the grilled chicken more. Loved the plantains. The coleslaw was mayo based and had a kick to it. The chicken sandwich was dry and needed sauce on the average roll. I liked the empanadas but my wife was not impressed. They were full of chicken and they had a mustard like sauce inside which I enjoyed. The rice was bland, and beans were flavorful. It was about $36 total for everything. They have Pepsi products here (thumbs down) and also a machine with a trio of other choices (see my picture)! Pollo Campero is not my newest most favorite fried chicken place. But the food was good, and they have a loyalty program if you get their app. They also do catering. When i did a search, they appeared to be all over the Trenton, NJ area so I don't know if this is their first Philadelphia location. Anyway, I wish them much luck in the business. I'm sure the Popeyes across the street was jealous with Pollo Campero's huge outpouring of customers!
