Honestly I eat out a lot and our experiences dining out in Florida haven't been great. But Loretta was so cheerful and friendly as well as really attentive throughout our meal to the end! Often we eat and then have to wait more than 20 minutes to get the check but she was quick and helpful. Plus her recommendations were also good. Beautiful disaster or glorious train wreck would describe Drunken Mullet adequately. Hey they warn you before you walk in by the huge sign you can see over the door that says "Warm Beer and Lousy Food." I can't speak about the beer and the food wasn't too lousy. But the one thing that the sign should warn you about is how awful the service is. Good thing there are several other things to keep you entertained for a while. The Drunken Mullet has an open air bar and tables with a small beach on the canal. There is live music and room for a dance floor. TVs are everywhere. This is a perfect bar hangout for Florida for friends or new drunk friends. For food choices, there is a mix of wings, sandwiches, pizza, and seafood. I went with the wings with some interesting sauce choices. First of all, there was Spicy slaw which tastes like the slaw vinegarette without the crunchiness of the cabbage. Mike's Mustard looked dry at first but the mustard was present there. The other flavor was Cajun and it tasted like crab boil. And now for that matter of service, it was awful. The waitress was drunk or high and needs organization skills. She brought my friends a pitcher of beer then did not come back and take our order. After 20 minutes, I went to the hostess and asked her to be our waitress and said she would come take our order. She also said the other waitress had stepped out. REALLY? I have been sitting there 20 damn minutes for you to come back and take my order and you think it's time for a break? When she did come back, she started rubbing her hand on my back and being flirty with me. How about doing your job or just apologizing? Then after our order was taken, we didn't get our food until at least 45 minutes later. I also asked her to replace my tea with just water because the tea was that abomination known as Gold Peak and she didn't do it and gave me a hard time about it when my patience had already worn thin. Good thing she put us all on the same ticket because her tip would have reflected her performance as almost non-existent. Pleasantly surprised with the food and drinks even though we assumed the "Warm beer, lousy food" slogan above the door was tongue-in-cheek. The beer was on ice and they had two good local brews, Big Nose IPA and ZFG by Hidden Springs, a refreshing beer with a strong citra hops taste. The smoked fish dip, homemade with Amber jack and mullet, was excellent. The diced onions, jalapeños, olives, tomatoes, lettuce etc made it eat more like a meal. The Eggplant Tower with fried eggplant and cheese was excellent also. Very interesting menu. The smoked mullet meal - the whole fish - is done in their very own smoker. Unfortunately, we'd had a late lunch and were too full to try it. The bartenders were very attentive and seemed like they are in the habit of keeping the bar very clean. She was very friendly, even when my mom said she wanted to change tables, she didn't even hesitate a second to do that. Celebrating a friend's birthday, I was pleasantly surprised by the menu. I chose an Eggplant Tower, half-pound of pell-n-eat shrimp, and hubby chose wings. We shared the shrimp, which was prepared with Old Bay seasoning and chopped garlic, and had the best cocktail sauce on the side. The eggplant was absolutely delicious and I enjoyed it greatly. Hubby shared one of his wings and it was so good I helped myself to another. He said that the wings were the best he's had since moving to the west coast. Prices were what we expected, and drinks are moderately priced as well. We saw a platter of nachos being served to another table and we have to post a warning. DO NOT ORDER unless you have a big appetite!! Enough to feed three people! Entertainment started at 6:30, but you need to arrive at least an hour before to attempt to get a seat.
