I saw Francie and she did an amazing job, washed my hair blew dry it straight and then curled it for some added waves and volume. This was hands down the most unprofessional, disorganized experience I've ever had at a DryBar. I booked my blowout over a week in advance because I had an important trip and needed my hair done before traveling. I got the standard confirmation email 24 hours before--which I confirmed--so everything should've been good to go, right? WRONG. Later that evening, I get a random email telling me my appointment was CANCELLED due to a "schedule issue" (whatever that means), and the only option they could offer was 7 AM the next day. I immediately tried calling the location--no one answered. I got a call back from someone claiming to be the manager (hard to believe based on how incompetent she was). I explained that I made this appointment over a week ago and that I needed it for my trip. Her response? "We've canceled many people, and no one had a problem with it besides you." Highly unlikely that every other person just accepted this nonsense. Then she had the nerve to say that "maybe" she could ask someone to work extra hours or come in early to "accommodate me" but that I'd have to wait to hear back. I booked in advance--I'm not the one asking for a last-minute change! How is this an operating business?! Luckily, I called the Santa Monica location, and they squeezed me in because they actually understand customer service. DO NOT GO THERE! My wife had an appointment for an updo, the stylist assigned to her could not do it. Instead of just saying she couldn't do it, she tried to do it while another stylist tried to help. End result my wife had to leave without her hair done after an hour and a half. They charged us for a blowout, then it took four days to get A manager on the phone to get a refund processed. Absolutely awful experience, my wife will not be coming back and highly recommend everyone stay away. read more

I want to first start by saying thank you to the woman who did my hair. You did a FANTASTIC job of servicing my 4C hair. However, DRYBAR you need to rethink your revenue priorities if charging an additional $30 because of how long it takes to do my hair. I have kinky 4C hair and because it takes more intention, you charge an additional amount??? That pricing is EXTREMELY discriminatory given that women of color naturally have curly hair that will take more time. It's within the hairstylist's control whether or not my service takes longer than 45 min, yet I'm being penalized for it??? I would not recommend going to Drybar if you're looking for a cost effective, efficient wash and blow dry if you have kinky hair. If you're willing to spend $100 for a wash and blow dry, you might as well go to a salon where you won't feel penalized because your hair texture is thick and curly. I'm so disappointed because the Culver City location has been known to service women of color, SPECIFICALLY BLACK WOMEN for so long. But to be charged for something out of my control is strictly unacceptable. read more

Huge waste of time and money. I booked an updo ahead of time, but when I got there I was told they had to find someone that could make an updo. This was not a complicated job. The lady I ended up with was very nice, but also did not know how to do this. We eventually agreed on a low messy bun that I could've done better, myself, at home. By the time I got home the bun was already coming apart, so I washed my hair and started over. This place used to be great. I have come here many times over the years and gotten very complicated updos. It seems like they are not training or taking care of their employees anymore. It seems like a company problem, not an individual problem. This was all after the appointment started late, so there wasn't wiggle room to ask for modifications. read more

Unfortunately all of the previous reviews regarding the lack of professionalism and customer service are TRUE! From the phone to in person, this was truly a disappointing experience. The receptionist Mila is extremely rude. She barely greets you, rolls her eyes and has a very off putting energy as soon as you walk in. Granted I was 14 minutes late for my appointment however, the receptionist and stylist handled the situation with such a lack of respect. I would've appreciated them informing me that there was absolutely nothing they could do for me instead, they told me they would be able to downsize my appointment to a dry style. After waiting 45min, no one approached me. I then approached the front desk and the stylist rudely said she was going to cancel and reschedule my appointment because I was late and I'm the reason everyone is behind. Overall the tone and rudeness left me feeling extremely frustrated and disrespected. I will never again step foot in this particular salon nor refer anyone. There needs to be some sort of customer support training ASAP. read more

My hair is thick and it was not fully dried. I mentioned it to the stylist to dry my hair completely and it was not done. I woke the next morning with frizzy hair. I usually get my hair dried at the salon when I get it trimmed and the blow dry will last until I wash it, 4 to 5 days. People were friendl. read more

I had an extremely disappointing experience here. From the moment I walked in, the receptionist made no eye contact, showed no signs of being welcoming, and acted as though I was an inconvenience. I had tried calling multiple times to let them know I was running a little late, but no one answered. When I arrived--right at 9 minutes past the hour, within their late policy--I apologized and explained the situation. She had me sit and wait for a bit, only to then loudly call my name and tell me they wouldn't take me. Her tone and body language made it seem like turning me away was a personal victory. Despite my calm and polite demeanor, she refused to make eye contact, delivered the message with a rude and dismissive attitude, and made no effort to be understanding or professional. Adding insult to injury, I later received the receipt (since they charge regardless), and the timestamp was 12 minutes past the hour--showing that they wasted time making me wait just to refuse service. I fully understand the need for policies, but this wasn't about policy--it was about unprofessionalism and a complete lack of customer care. The business was empty, I was within the time frame, and I had made an effort to call ahead. If this business wants to grow, they need to reexamine how they treat customers. I'm a disappointed with this location overall. I was 10 minutes late due to a city event which had multiple nearby streets closed. I fell within their 10 minute late policy- granted online says 15 minutes late policy. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, she stated that Drybar is going to actually change their policy to 5 minutes. Unless this is public knowledge, this information is irrelevant. The customer service alone makes this place not worth visiting. Also, like other people have mentioned, I also noticed an additional charge when checking out. My first Blow Out experience at Dry Bar!!!! My friend has been cleaving about dry bar and service you receive here ( I'm selective about my hair and cautious about new places) so I reluctantly made an appt. last minute on Saturday evening for next day... Sunday Mother's Day thinking they wouldn't have any available appts. but there was one opening available at the Culver City location. Its located in downtown culver in the cutest area, walking distance from salt and straw. I'm in this area a lot and it's usually difficult to park but there is free parking across the street through the tiny alley by the Mexican restaurant. I checked in with the girl in the front and waited for a couple minutes for my stylist. She came to greet me and had me sit in the chair while she combed my hair out and asked me what I wanted as far as style. My friend said they give you a book to look through but I didn't get a book so I just explained what I wanted. I was concerned with getting a stylist that could handled my hair and it's texture I have naturally very curly hair. Aliyah washed and conditioned my hair in the back and brought back to may chair when she blew out my hair in sections and then very carefully went over each section with a flat iron and straightened it and curled it. Aliyah was great she made sure to ask if I wanted my hair sprayed and suggested curls instead of waves so it would last longer. I was a little disappointed because I heard from a friend that you get a complimentary drink of your choice. Mimosas, champagne, wine, tea, coffee or water and that wasn't the case, I did look at reviews afterwards of dry bar and seems like other people had this offered to them as well so I'm not sure why it wasn't the case for me. They didn't try to push any products on me or upsell me on anything which was nice. She didn't get my neck or shirt wet when she washed my hair and she didn't let any water drip down my face or in my ears which is always a plus for me. My blow out and style was $59 hooch is great. Only reason for the 4 starts is because I said it was my friend time here and still had no idea about this menu or Styles and a water would hav been nice. I've seen a lot of people complaining about this receptionist and I have to say I couldn't agree more with these reviews. Usually, I take complaints with a grain of salt against employees as it's usually based in an impatient customer, but in this case, this person absolutely should be reprimanded for her actions. She charged me $20 for a tip without confirming with me, the customer, and I paid $90 for a regular blowout when I am a barfly member. $40 over what is being advertised online as the price for a blowout. I will be telling every person I know about my experience here and I will never visit this establishment again so long as I live in Los Angeles. I've never had an experience like this at any other dry bar, so I will keep my business there from now on. read more

This was the WORST salon experience of my life!!! I booked a blowout for my baby shower and was 10 minutes late due to traffic and parking. When I walked in, albeit noticeably rushing and 9 months pregnant, the receptionist who similar to all other reviews was extremely rude told me to have a seat. After ten minutes of not hearing anything I followed up and she told me that because I was late they sent the stylist to her lunch which makes no sense given I was only 10 minutes late for 1 hour appointment and no one could take me at this time. I would have to wait 30-40 minutes for the stylist to return. I was obviously frantic because I was fully dressed with makeup and was awaiting my hair appointment to arrive at my baby shower in time. I got on the phone with the area manager to understand my options, and she was EVEN MORE unprofessional and unhelpful than the front desk. She proceeded to yell at me and told me that either I could sit there and wait or they would cancel my appointment and could not care less what I did. She made me cry hysterically because she left me with no options 1 hour before my baby shower since my hair was dirty and unwashed from expecting a blow dry. I cried off all my make up due to the stress and trouble they gave me on what was supposed to be a happy joyous day... and they could care less I was 9 months pregnant with no options without waiting. I ended up waiting 30 minutes for a stylist to to then get a rushed blowout and was 30 minutes late to my own baby shower event. I've NEVER in my life received this kind of service from a front desk receptionist or area manager and would urge anyone to reconsider coming to this Drybar location, especially given all the similar complaints I see below. read more

Blow outs here are ok. Not the best not the worst. Would be nice if they had more availability. My least favorite thing is they have a 10 min grace period, enforceable only if it's convenient for them. Meaning if you're late, they can cancel/charge you. This is coming from an African American woman with thick, curly, dry hair who is accustomed to silk presses from full service salons. This was my first time at DryBar, and my experience was extremely pleasant. PROS: Gina was very nice and very good at her job. I do recommend her. She added some curls, and I left feeling pretty. I love the curls. Gina has been doing hair for years, has worked at other salons, and enjoys styling hair. Her hair also looks good. I got plenty of compliments from MEN! Even if it was a smile or a head turn. I even got a shout of "Have a nice day, queen," from one guy. CONS: The style didn't last the whole day, once I got into the wind, After the 3rd errand, I watched my hair get bigger and bigger and bigger until all was lost, but I think that's because of my hair type. I need a pressing comb to get the roots. I need another pass of the flat iron ya know! BUT PROS: My hair is still healthy. I would do this again. Sometimes, I just want someone else to wash and blow dry my hair, and the style is a plus. I would do this for an event or if I needed something quick for the day, like a date or if I have to meet someone important like my future mother in law lol. I enjoyed this experience. I made a Saturday afternoon appointment recently at this Drybar location to get my hair styled for a photo shoot. They were running on time and everything went fine with my session. No delay in styling my hair, and I was in and out in 30 minutes, which is the time needed for a "dry style" (versus a full blowout). My stylist asked me what time my shoot was and styled my hair accordingly so that the style would hold hours later. It looked fabulous for the rest of the day, and I'll definitely be back to this Drybar location. read more

I stopped going to the Marina Del Rey location since my experience has been very mixed (some pretty amazing folks and some awful folks with terrible customer service). However the Culver City location has been awesome! My experiences have been consistently great and everyone is friendly. Angie was so considerate of my allergies and she is a talented stylist! Booked for a 1pm, which was confirmed via email for 1pm. I drove across town, arrived at 1pm and they tell me I was a no show at 12:40pm and sent me an email saying I will be charged a no show. The front desk was absolutely rude about their mistake, telling me I will be charged a no show and all they could offer me for my full price is a dry style. Ok so I made my appointment SCARED because of the other reviews but I live on this street and needed my hair done now! (My usual hair person at another salon was all booked out) Anyways, I have nothing but nice to say about this place. I walked in and they had me sit down for a second, my stylist showed me a book of styles I can choose my hair for and it was really helpful. Drea did a fantastic job on washing, brushing, and blowing my hair out. I think that she sensed my anxiety (I'm sorry) and it seemed like she went out of the way to communicate everything with me to ease me a bit during the process. She was also incredibly well versed in curls! I have only gone to this place for emergencies and as last resort for hair straightening. It is always a hit and miss. Today they lost my business for good. I have always been early or on time to my appointments. However, today I was running 10 minutes behind, so I called ahead and was reassured that they will honor the courtesy time and still do my hair. When I arrived, they refused to honor my appointment and when I asked to speak to the manager, they said that they could not do my hair because of my "hair type" and they didn't have enough time to do it. There are a number of things that was wrong with this experience from a customer service standpoint, but I will just say that a few descriptions come to mind: I felt disrespected. I wasted my time driving there only to be turned away at the door then I felt insulted because they being prejudice about how long it takes to do my hair because I'm an African-American woman. I've had issues with this Salon in the past when one of their Stylist, who had no experience doing my daughter's hair was raking through her hair and causing my daughter to cry in pain, so I thought it was just the Stylist, but it's clear to me that this Salon is not here to serve the community that it is in they are picking and choosing who they want to serve and most of them don't look like me. I'm disappointed and disgusted. I do not recommend this place for anyone but especially not for African-American women. read more
