I live super close by and walked in (as they have an explicit sign outside welcoming walk-ins......) to see if they had time for a blowout for me. The owner / person who runs the salon was there with two younger women. When I walked in I was given filthy looks by the younger women who genuinely seemed annoyed that I was interrupting their conversation... I was the one to approach THEM and was not greeted warmly, it was so so strange. I asked her how much it would be for a blowout. She touched my hair, glanced me up and down, and said "No." I was confused. "No?". "No." "As in, not right now, not today, not ever?" "You have too much hair and I'm too old". LOLLLLLL. Well I came in for a blow dry and saw they did make up application for which I ended up getting it as well. It was sat afternoon and they were busy for which hair lady instructed make up lady to finish hair. She did great with the make up but my impression was that she didn't have much experience with hair and sure I was right, next thing you know she dropped the curling iron on my arm and burned me. They were very apologetic and ended up not charging me for the hair. Honestly, the place was not bad (I like how I looked at the end- minus my arm) but I'm sure there are better salons in the area... This place is a complete joke. -I called three times before my appointment and no one answers the phone. -When I got there, there is only one stylist, Azita, and she just started with someone else. She either took a walk in or double booked my appointment time and she told me it was an hour wait. -I needed coins for the meter but she had no change in the register. -I offered to come back later so I didn't sit for an hour. When I came back, Azita asked me if had change for $100 to change out her client. There really is no money in that register?? -she asked her client to go next door to get change from the nail salon. What kind of business is this? -I confirmed the haircut price was $35 but after my cut Azita complained she wanted $75. -I showed her a picture of a long bob haircut that I wanted and instead of using scissors she gives me a blunt cut with a razor. How lazy!!! -I have long hair and showed her I wanted to cut my hair short above my shoulders like the picture but her first cut attempt my hair length was still down to my mid-back. -I told her to cut it shorter like the picture but again she used the razor cutting only a couple inches off. My hair was still long and not like the picture. -I told her i didn't want a straight cut. The long bob is suppose to be shorter in the back and longer in the front. Why do I have to explain that to her? She should know. That's when Azita complained and accused me of asking for a whole new hair cut. -she blamed me for HER not knowing how to cut hair. It's not my fault she doesn't understand a picture. -Azita then said "I'm a master hair stylist. This kind of cut I usually charge $75 not $35". -Azita then said this cut is not a trim. $35 is for a trim. I told her I never asked for a trim I asked for a haircut. And the sign says $35 for cut not $35 for a trim. Funny, she didn't mentioned that in the beginning when I showed her the picture of the cut I wanted. -Before coming to my appointment, I also confirmed with Dahlia, the manager?, the price and haircut I wanted with no problem. There is clearly miscommunication with these two. -Azita finally picks up scissors to fix my hair but calls Dahlia and complains in a different language about never cutting hair for $35 again. Real professional. -I tell her it's not my fault you don't understand a picture and she tells me to leave. -so I left without Azita finishing my haircut but I paid her $40 bucks anyway because I'm not a fucked up person. I'm a risk taker, so I decided to book an appointment at Blow Angels sight-unseen for one of the most important hair days of my life: the day I took my engagement photos. Even though this salon is a bit of a hike, I chose it because it's one of the few places that offers $30 blowouts AND $30 makeup application, both of which I needed. The salon is super girly and cute, and my stylist was incredibly friendly and polite. I told her I wanted lots of curls and volume -- no easy task for my flat, stick-straight hair. The only downside to my styling session was that I was seated in a chair near the window. It felt like a greenhouse! But the time flew by as I chatted with my stylist, Alexia. Soon it was time for my makeup. I expected to get a new makeup artist, but Alexia did the entire service: hair, makeup, and lashes. I've had a $30 makeup application before--at StyleBar BH in Beverly Hills--which was way too dramatic and overdone. I wanted my makeup to be visible in photos but not drag-queenish. I asked for a middle ground between their "Angelic" and "Love Goddess" looks. She nailed it! I looked pretty but still appropriate, and the makeup photographed beautifully. After my hair and makeup was done, I sat in the car for 3 hours as we drove up to our photo shoot location, in Santa Barbara. The curls, the lashes, the makeup, everything held up fine for the 7+ hours from the time I left Blow Angels to the time my shoot was over. Thank you for the great work, Alexia! What a little gem of a place. It's the kind of place you could easily miss if walking by. But you go inside and it's really nice. I am so glad I don't live far away. The place is light and airy, with a modern decor. They also have a little boutique inside with clothing and jewelry. Went to Blow Angels for the first time last week and REALLY loved it. I forget the person's name, but my hair stylist was from Chicago with Short blonde hair... She took her time cutting my hair, blow dried my hair really well and kept checking to make sure I liked it, asked how i normally styled my hair, and just really cared about me. The facilities were incredibly cute, the staff was super friendly to me...and well, I would definitely recommend this person to anyone and everyone. I was hesitant to try Blow Angels when I first saw an average of 3 stars a couple of months ago. I decided to give it a try because they advertise their blow outs at $29. Well that's not quite true as it doesn't apply to long hair, so it's actually $39. One of the things that bothered me about this salon was that I could NEVER reach a representative over the phone. After failing to reach them several times I simply made an appointment online. I should probably warn you that you DO have to put down a credit card, and last minute cancellation fees are pretty brutal. That's not an attraction for me :( But the main reason I didn't have a good experience was because my scalp was burnt multiple times...from a simple blow out. I get blow outs in Beverly Hills / Hollywood all the time but it's never been uncomfortable. Hair places can always be hit or miss, because it really depends on who you get. First off, parking is a B. I had to circle around quite a few times to find a spot. Definitely go early to find parking. The place is a Blow Bar that became full service. They give haircuts and do make up as well. Ive walked by a few times during the weekend and it's always packed. I went after work and it was easy to get in a walk-in appointment. I got Ashley and she was super cool. I just got a cut and dry...she did a good job...she's not one of those people that just does whatever they want to your hair and asks you questions to make sure you're getting what you want. She said she was tired and despite how long and somewhat thick hair I have...she still kept the conversation going and didn't rush through my cut or blow dry. Reasonably priced too if you ask me...it was $55 for cut and blow dry. My hair looked great! It had lots of volume. I would go back to Ashley again. 4 stars mainly because of parking! read more

I got a simple blow out and the whole time my scalp was getting burned and she seemed like she had no idea what she was doing. No consistency. I've been to this place more than a few times because it's so close to my apt. I always leave with a decent blow out, yet not the kind that leaves me feeling like a Victoria Secret Angel (here's to you, DryBar!). The thing that really irks me about this place is the lack of consistency. I was told AFTER my wash that my blow out would be $10 extra because I have curly hair. That's fine, I just wish it was mentioned somewhere on the menu. Then I receive a call from the manager telling me the additional fee for long and/or curly hair was removed and blow drys were now a flat fee. But once I came back about a month later I was told the additional fee was once again in place! Grr! I received a coupon via email for 10% off. After my blow dry, I went to pay and the receptionist tells me the discount cannot be applied because I didn't book the appointment online. Again, there was no notification that this had to be done. All of this confusion for an OK service. The salon is cute and although the staff is almost amateur (probably due to the high turnaround), everyone is pretty nice. If you need a quick dry, this may be your place but if you want that VA-VA-VOOM, spend the extra $4.00 and go to DryBar up the street. read more

This place is so mismatched, unprofessional, and gave me the worst blowout experience I have ever had. I came here from Orange County with my best friend who was visiting for a month from a different country. We were staying at a friend's place in LA for the weekend and wanted to do a fun girls photoshoot so I wanted to get my hair done for our pictures. I made an online appointment the day of and went there, arriving right on time, expecting to be seated and in and out in no more than an hour. As it turns out, my appointment never went through. The girl at the counter said that she's seen it happen before to other customers as well - um, HELLO. If it's not working, then why do you still make online booking an option!? Since they were packed as it was a Saturday afternoon, I waited another hour before she was free to do my hair. I was not offered any water or any consolation for having to wait another hour to get my hair done despite having thought I made an appointment. I told her I wanted loose curls but to please make them tight because it was windy that day and I wanted my hair to stay as it was. She said no problem. The rest of the stars I give down because although she was really nice, she didn't go out of her way to make me enjoy my blowout. We briefly talked but she tugged on my hair a lot and would sometimes check her phone while blow drying my hair, making it just a little too hot for my poor scalp on certain occasions. Oh and to top it off, my hair was flat within 20 minutes of leaving the salon. This place is definitely making my wall of shame list. read more

I took Blow Angels up on a chance to revisit the salon for a blowout this past sunday, and it was a night and day difference from my first experience. The owner was sincere and apologetic about how the salon was managed during a hiatus she took. The salon seemed busy, which is a sign that times have changed from the first time I came here when it was empty on a Saturday afternoon. Hallelujah - proper management is back at Blow Angels, and I can attest that my stylist not only knew what she was doing, but was professional and friendly as well. I decided to try Blow Angels because it's closer though I usually go to the Dry Bar. I can't remember the name of my stylist but I have a few qualms. 1) When she washed my hair, she got the entire collar of my shirt wet. No big deal since I wasn't going anywhere right afterward but still it's never happened at The Dry Bar. She also kept using her wet hand to wipe water from my forehead. Not just the edge of hairline, my entire forehead, completely disregarding any makeup I might have done. A weird technique no one had ever done while washing my hair. 2) She kept commenting how much hair I have and how long it takes to dry, something no one at The Dry Bar has ever complained about. I felt it was unprofessional. 2) And this one is not her issue but the structure of Blow Angels. At The Dry Bar, there is one price for doing your blow out without having to choose a curling iron or just a blow dryer. It lets you relax and let your stylist do your hair and decide what tools are necessary. At Blow Angels, using a curling iron is an add-on you have to tell them you want. Ultimately, the blow out was fine but the experience wasn't the most pleasant. I realized then that all blow out salons are not equal. read more

This was my first time ever going to one of these blow dry bars. I really enjoyed it. It's great because its not that costly and made my existing hairstyle look really new for a special event. I also had makeup application done there. I was in and out in about 1 hour for both services. The staff is really friendly, the salon is clean and cute. As a person that doesn't wear too much makeup everyday, I was a little surprised how heavy of an application professional makeup can be, but at night and in pictures, which is when my event was, the makeup turned out beautiful. read more

Blow Angels was a new business that started off decent. However, in my last 2 experiences it's gone downhill. Overall, it seems like the owner is the only one who gives a shit. It's apparent her staff doesn't respect her or care as much as her. Everytime I've been there, there hasn't been a receptionist nor a friendly greeting from anyone. Everyone looks bewildered when a customer walks in, like "Oh shit! A customer! I hope it's not mine cause I'm busy" First: I took my boyfriend to get his haircut here and he didn't love it. The stylist did a good job of wearing her shirt too short exposing her muffintop and clevage. Other than that, her haircut was C+. Second: I walked in at 1pm to ask if there was someone who could give me a haircut. No receptionist. A male stylist attended to me, got my name and phone number, told me to come back at 4:30pm for my appointment. I come back at 4:30pm and the door is locked, completely empty inside. I call their business line multiple times and finally leave a voicemail saying I'm leaving and I hope they intended to rectify the situation. Then I decide to go to the back of the store to see if maybe they were just getting back from lunch or something. Turns out the male stylist and receptionist are just chilling in the back alley having a cigarette, laughing having a good ol' time. Clearly, they had no intention of calling me to say they were running behind or at least to cancel the appointment. As I'm walking over to Floyd's down the street (cause I've decided to take my business elsewhere), I receive a call from the owner who says something along the lines of "Hi sorry I missed your call. I was with another client. How can I help you?" implying she was in the shop. I tell her the doors locked and no one is around. She seems shocked and says she'll call me right back. I never got a call back from the owner nor the stylist to apologize. #fail read more

She did email me my receipt, and I did pay $29 for the blowout. But tip was charged double what I indicated. She said she would revise the receipt, but alas, I still haven't seen anything. She did apologize for the experience and indicated I should have said I wasn't pleased...but I was already out the door and on my way to my event when the hair started to congeal, so I couldn't exactly run back. Sally is the best for color, cut, and blow outs. I came here to get my hair blown out back in December for a company holiday party and not only did she listen to what I wanted- the blowout lasted a few days. Whenever I have gotten blow outs at Drybar my hair is back to being flat before the evening is over, but that's never the case with Sally's blow outs. She's quick, she listens to what you want, and her blowouts last. I came back to try highlights for the first time ever (and was pretty scared, being a first timer) but again, Sally worked her magic and four months later the highlights still look natural and great. What I appreciate the most about Sally is that she listens to what her customers want...she has eased me into highlights and has never been pushy or tried to upsell me into anything I didn't want. And on top of that, she's very good at what she does and is EXTREMELY talented when it comes to anything related to hair. I can't wait to get highlights round two as I prepare to graduate from business school this spring! read more

This place is just HORRIBLE! not because Lori did shitty job with my hair its because I scheduled an appointment with her last week for today appointment at 10 am. I wasn't even on any schedule whatsoever and that just made me so mad. I gave her two star because she put me down at 4 today and not schedule me in next week or so. Thankfully my job is very lenient on making up my work hours, but I still wasted my time, my millage and gas driving over there twice. Been here at least two or three times and I LOVE Nicole as my stylist. She will take the time to style your hair the way you would like and it's amazing every time. The blowout itself wasn't awful, I've been twice and both times were so unorganized and unprofessional. There was hair and dust balls all over the floor, just made you think about how dirty it is. One of my two visits was playing really profane music which I found not only disturbing but disrespectful. The second visit was to celebrate with a friend, so we asked for a glass of bubbly or wine... The response was that they had a bottle of champagne open from a few days earlier. No thanks. The place is so pretty, love the blue, but the workers in the place couldn't have been more disinterested in helping us at the front desk. Worst blow dry I've ever had along with the cold, unfriendly lack of a welcome I received. I'd been a few times over the last few years and it was just ok but it has seriously gone down hill or maybe I was just unlucky to get a very sullen stylist with very bad energy indeed. I couldn't wait to leave, she literally pulled the head off me and I had a headache leaving. I wasn't even sure if she was doing it on purpose because I had asked her if she wouldn't mind getting me started because I had an event (as she was cleaning nasty hairbrushes in full view of the previous day's hair build up. ) She actually told me twice " I'll be right with you" quite abruptly. Now am I wrong in expecting at least a greeting and a polite welcome? She never even offered me a glass of water. It was a horrible experience and I foolishly tipped her well and told myself that I should regardless. The Owner of this salon needs to get involved more and talk to these stylists about friendliness etc, otherwise they will continue to lose a lot of local business. It might help to add that no one wants to actually feel pain when their hair is being dried either. I went back for a roaring 20's hair do and Aylin definitely mastered it! She gave me great gatsby hair and I received compliments all night long!!! Thank you Aylin! My only qualm is that the prices have definitely gone up. I have long fine hair but not extra long nor extra thick and now I feel the owners are charging for every little thing! My last review for this place was about my hair being butchered. This review is for the absolute SWEETEST and MOST DETAILED hair stylist I've come across! EVAAAAAAAA! She read my last review and took the time to reach out to me personally and offered a free fix on my hair cut and a free blow out. I was pleasantly surprised and sort of felt guilty for my mean review (maybe I was overreacting)! Anyway, when I got there, I showed Eva pictures of the damage and she reassured me there was indeed a problem with the services I previously received by another stylist at the salon! Eva shampooed my hair and explained to me her plan of action. I have curly hair and she explained how layers on curly hair are tricky to do and should be done on dry hair. She tediously blew out and flat ironed my very thick and curly/wavy hair and proceeded to repair the damage! She did so without taking off too many inches (which I know is important to people)! Throughout the process she showed me mistakes of the previous stylist and then showed her improved versions. Very reassuring to know what's going on back there lol. The end product is beautiful and I would recommend EVA to you all! I think she works Friday, Saturday, Sunday's? Not sure! Call and make an appointment ahead of time!
