Because of a serious illness I hadn't been to the salon in years...then the stars aligned and I found myself in Westwood at Salon Biology and in the incredibly competent hands of Naz. I went in thinking I could just jump right back in to the color, highlights and cut I used to have. Unfortunately, after that illness and age, my hair had irreversibly changed and was too weak to take the processes it would take to make my "fantasy" happen. Naz was honest with me, empathetic and kind..she gave me realistic suggestions and "held my hand" throughout, used products that actually helped my hair and educated me on how to use them. I didn't walk out with the fantasy, but I did walk out with healthy, beautiful hair with a great cut. My husband noticed my hair right away (after 20 years of marriage this is a rare occurrence) and thought it looked amazing. And at the end of the day, I felt great about my hair and that's how you want to feel when you walk out of the salon. I cannot recommend Naz and Salon Biology enough! read more

One of the most welcoming salons I've ever been to! Everyone was so friendly and the music/vibe was so calm and relaxing. I was invited in with an offer for coffee, tea, or matcha, and water. The matcha was delicious and such a nice treat to get settled in before making a drastic hair change. I asked for long, face framing layers with curtain bangs, and Autumn Queen did such a beautiful job. She was great at communicating exactly what she was doing each step of the way, and asked a lot of questions to make sure we were on the same page and had a really great sense of what length would best compliment my face/frame. My hair somehow looked longer and fuller with the layers, even after she cut less than an inch of trim from my overall length. Not only did I love the service and ambience, but the non-toxic products used felt amazing in my hair. Washing my hair with Neuma left it feeling so silky and shiny and easy to comb through. Finding someone both deeply talented at hair color AND caring is that "hold standard" so many of us REQUIRE but rarely find - ... and THAT is Nicole in a nutshell. She comes with over 20 years experience (and no she's a gorgeous mom but started VERY young) and has worked on EVERY texture, type and color - a good deal of her speciality is CORRECTING and healing what so many other "specialists" have screwed up... and yet she does what she does with zero ego or need to "be right" - it's the client's hair, the client needs to be happy, and ultimately Nicole understands that we often want something that's not "healthy" for the hair but oh-so-pretty (my fatal flaw is wanting some amount of ash blonde even tho I'm a natural dark brunette!)- and not only was Nicole patient and kind about this vain (and un-smart!) request - she generously spent 2 HOURS in the first try carefully studying, testing and watching my hair process as she reapplied, tweaked - and in some cases immediately REMOVED - the color process to ensure a healthy, happy result! I cannot emphasize enough how extraordinary this is - and on top of this already phenom balancing act - Nicole noticed the uneven ends (due to breakage) and offered to budget the day's appointment so I could also get a trim and blow out- allowing me to leave her salon feeling like a glamazon about to strut the runway =) Humor aside - she is incredible, leveraging her experience, high standards and talent with kindness and a generous spirit that just leaves you feeling respected and HEARD. I originally found them because they specialize in non toxic hair color and products, which is extremely important to me since I live a very low tox lifestyle. It is rare to find a salon that genuinely prioritizes clean ingredients without compromising on results, and Salon Biology does this perfectly . I have grey hair and, I'm not quite ready to embrace it yet lol. I've been coloring my hair for years, but it wasn't until I started coming to Salon Biology that my color finally looked consistently even, fresh, and incredibly healthy. My hair has never felt over-processed or damaged. Instead, it feels nourished and strong every single time I leave the salon. Another huge difference for me has been their Avjou Research products. I've been using the shampoo, conditioner, and scalp serum consistently, and the results have been amazing. I'm so happy I found Hair Biology! I needed a last-minute Sunday appointment when my regular stylist was off, and their hours and availability were a lifesaver. Online booking is easy and convenient. The salon itself is beautiful, clean, and has such a friendly vibe. Sama has been my stylist, and she is amazing. Hair cut result: 4/5 Service: 2/5 Price: 3/5 TLDR; I didn't get what I paid for I booked a women's haircut (no blowout) same-day for 6:30pm (after I got out of work), priced at $100. I arrived a few minutes early as I had read reviews that described how strict they are with their late/no-show policies. Naz (the owner) was my stylist. After I was seated, some of the first things she says are comments on acne on my neck and benign cysts (that happen to run in my family) on my head. I was taken aback. I show her a picture of myself with the exact haircut I wanted. My usual hairstylist is out in Corona and I was hoping to find someone close to where I live now. The cut is fairly simple: straight trim in the back, curtain bangs, face-framing layers. She immediately starts the cut. She did not wash my hair. I have attached a screenshot of the service I paid for- it clearly includes a hair wash. In the moment, I didn't say anything because I was pretty sure the service included a wash but not 100% sure. And, this was the owner. Surely she knows the service she advertises? She proceeds with the rest of the cut, and I ask for some adjustments. She is combative and outright refuses to make one of the adjustments I requested. It's an uncomfortable conversation where I am asking for changes (for which I do not know the exact terms, but I am describing them and showing her pictures of me with the cut) and she is saying that since I don't know the correct terms, she can't understand what I'm asking for. I have had hairstylists discourage me from making certain choices (which I appreciate), but outright refusing to do what I ask is absurd. I am paying for the service. In the end, it wasn't exactly what I wanted. I made this clear to Naz and her response was 'ask your previous hairstylist what she usually does and we can try again sometime'. As I am looking at my hair to see if it's finally close to what I wanted, she leaves and goes to the register. Guess my time is up! I'm billed $100 and tip $20, because I still appreciate people in the service industry have difficult jobs and deserve tips. :) I will not be going back. Once I get up the courage, I'll try another salon in the area. I am leaving this review because the 4.8/5 average reviews did not prepare me for what I experienced here. read more

I've been getting my brows threaded in LA for 3+ years, even in Beverly Hills, and I've never paid more than $12-$25. The whole service took about 15 minutes, so the price felt way too high for what it was. I should've asked before, but the price was definitely not what I expected. Just a heads up for anyone coming here make sure to confirm the cost first. I had an event in town and due to a cancelled flight, had to scramble for a last minute blowout somewhere... anywhere! How lucky am I to come across Salon Biology! Rose took really good care of me. I told her I had a maximum of an hour in her chair and have to hustle out. Although I came in just for a blowout, she suggested a few other services, namely toner application and a Milbon treatment. Honestly, I couldn't process much of the what's and why's for the suggestions at that time because I was worried about being late but oh my gosh let me tell you the outcomes of my hair was superb. My hair was brassy from the lack of care the past year (new mom here haha) and it is in the dry side. She saw that and appropriately suggested other services that she knew would make my hair look the way I wanted it to. I came out with chocolate highlights and bouncy curls. Days after my hair is soooooo smooth and silky from the treatment she suggested. I'm bummed that I don't live in the area because I would definitely be a regular here! My daughter and I came in for a blow out. My hair turned out great and my stylist took the time to ensure a perfect look with my thin hair but my daughter"s stylist Golnaz was done with her thick and long hair within 15 minutes. My hair is always first to be done and I'm waiting on my daughters. The stylist told her that her hair had oils and wouldn't be able to hold a curl and this barely didn't anything with it. Basically, I could have done it myself and it would have looked better because I would have taken the time to do it well. When the stylist decided her hair would t be able to hold a curl (it does when I do it at home) she should have just ended the appointment but we still got charged full amount. Golnaz the stylist wasn't friendly nor seemed like she wanted to be there. A very BIG disappointment. Empty salon and does not look as good as the pics online. read more
