Drybar is re-opening in Encinitas! At the Encinitas Oktoberfest event, I saw the Drybar booth and received a complimentary blowout. I had only ever seen Drybar on social media, so I was excited to go! Drybar is located in Encinitas Village between Athleta and Revive Med Spa with tons of parking. They welcome you in and offer complimentary coffee, water, or champagne/mimosa. Fun! There's also guest wifi. As I was there for a complimentary service, I let my stylist Kristi pick what style she was going to do and she chose the Cosmo-Tai. She did a wash and then styled my hair- it took about 1.5 hours (I have long thick hair) and it turned out beautifully! My hair also smelled amazing. I would definitely consider coming to Drybar for an event- it's $59 for a one time blowout, but if I lived closer/had more events in my life the Membership seems like a good idea- $49 a month for a blowout or $95 a month for two blowouts. read more

WORST Service from Manager/Receptionist. Rude, unprofessional and plain mean. As a previous review states I was also charged 3x for an appt. I was also a Barfly. I called 5x leaving messages about the extra charges and sent a message through the website. Zero return call. I had to drive to the location to speak in person. I was a weekly regular and 15 mins late to last appt. Manager rudely reprimanded me telling me she could charge me for the service since I was 15 mins late. She pointed out 10 mins is OK but not 15. I reminded her my last appt they were 1 hour late and often 15-20 mins late regularly and I don't mind or complain. I brought up the 3x chg for last appt. Her response was "Did we charge you 3x bc you were late?" Argumentative from the moment I walked in. I was shocked as was my friend. I said NO! You all were late. She proceeded to argue about the charge and said I should thank "Jesus" she didn't charge me for being 15 mins late. It was like arguing with a low class family member that felt entitled to talk down to me. She then claimed victim status since I was addressing her extreme rudeness. Someone needs to send this lady to customer service training. Alternatively, My stylist was great and felt terrible for me. She told me not to let Carrie's behavior ruin my day and that they needed me at the salon. I'm there very frequently so lots of business to lose. I purchased a package so contacted Del Mar to see if I could use them at their location. Del Mar told me they get complaints about Carrie and that location as well. Owner Caroline should find a nicer option. At one point I considered Carrie friendly but her trashy behavior shows her true colors. I would sort of get it if I didn't pay on time or tip. I tip 20% each time and purchase many on demand each week. I feel bad for anyone that has to work with this mean person. read more

I asked for an updo for opening day at the races. The day before my appointment they rescheduled me to a later time without asking me. I showed up early to make sure that I would still be out on time. Basically for $120 I got a pathetic updo that had no product in it. It didn't even last a couple of hours. By the time I got home, I had to have my daughter add another bobby pin or two to keep it up. They didn't wash my hair or dry it or add any products. It was the worst updo I've ever had. Today was my second time at this location. What a terrible experience. . The woman blow drying my hair yanked my hair repeatedly with a lot of force multiple times to the point my neck started to hurt, brushed my face several times and the end result was pretty bad. My "blowout" looks terrible, granted my hair is neck length and not hard to manage. I didn't notice until I had driven off that parts of my hair were still damp. What an absolute waste of $60 +. Called & left a message, didn't get a call back. Went there today in person to get a blowout & also talk to them about this. The lady at the front desk was super rude, after I brought this to her attention, rather than apologizing & attempting to refund me, she even said that she will not book me again! I have had horrible experiences at the one in One Paseo and have come to this location for years because of the professionalism, KINDNESS, and quality of work and caliber of the stylists. Earlier this week, I had my first Drybar experience at the DTLA location -- and it was phenomenal. The team was welcoming, the service was great, and I walked out feeling like a million bucks. They had me totally sold on signing up for the $99/month BarFly subscription. Today, I decided to set it up in person at the Encinitas location since I live in the area most of the time. I also figured I'd get a blowout while I was at it, especially since the website isn't the most user-friendly. The shopping center is great -- easy to get to, with tons of open parking. But unfortunately, that's where the positive part of this visit ends. I walked in around 6:40 p.m. (they close at 8), and stood at the front desk waiting to be greeted. No one acknowledged me. There was one guest already seated in the lobby and two stylists actively working with clients. Despite the big signs on the window and listings online saying, "Walk-ins welcome" and "Pop-ins welcome (including washes)," no one looked up, said hello, or made any effort to acknowledge me. After what felt like a painfully long and awkward moment, I made eye contact with one of the stylists -- who quietly told her client she'd go grab the front desk girl. At this point, I was uncomfortable, embarrassed, and unsure if I should just leave. Eventually, a young girl (in a black tube top and wild tan lines) came out and sat down at the desk. She greeted the woman already in the lobby, then turned to me after a minute and said, without looking up, "Are you also checking in?" I stepped forward and asked if they had time for a blowout today. Her response: "Unfortunately, no. Not today," again, without eye contact or any kind of warmth. Honestly, the whole exchange felt cold and dismissive. I don't expect red carpets, but basic courtesy -- a "Hi! We'll be right with you" -- goes a long way in making someone feel welcome. The front desk staff felt more fitting for a tanning salon than a luxury beauty service, and the complete lack of hospitality left me really disappointed. We came here for my girlfriends birthday, which she has done every year on her birthday (not this specific location), when we got there they weren't even open when they said they'd be. When they did unlock the door it was 5 minutes after and they already had full staff in there so it was weird as to why there was a delay. Not to mention she was the first person in the building and had an appointment for opening, yet for some reason 4 walk ins were able to get right on in and go right up before her. Once she met the stylist she wasn't offered any complimentary drinks (even water), no product was added to her hair. While she was there another lady even came in and didn't get taken for her appointment, and was waiting for over 30 minutes after the time of her appointment to the point where she didn't even get her hair done anymore she just wanted to leave. When she cancelled it the workers seemed excited that there was less work to do and were talking smack as she walked out. Would not recommend this drybar location to absolutely anybody no matter the circumstances there will always be a way to get your hair done nicer than this. I visited this location on April 11th, 2026. My appointment was around 9:45 am. I will say I was accommodated, considering I hit some traffic and was a couple minutes late to the appointment and they took me back promptly anyway. However, the quality of the service was not great. I asked for my hair to just be down and curled. She didn't seem like she really wanted to be there or do my service, because I wasn't met with kindness or general respectful customer service. The stylist was very blunt and, in all honesty, not very nice. She then began curling my hair with a flat iron. I don't remember the name of my stylist but I noticed during my appointment that she was absurdly rough with my hair. I thought maybe it was just a coincidence or she pulled too hard on accident one time. She actually consistently pulled my hair extremely hard as she styled my hair with the flat iron and it was very painful. A couple days later, I noticed the top of my scalp to be tender and discovered some inflammation in my hair follicles. After reading some similar reviews, it seems like I'm not the only one who's had this painful experience & that their hair was also curled with a flat iron when there are curling irons readily available. I wasn't asked if I was okay with that either and neither were the customers in these other reviews. I am pretty disappointed considering the price of the service and the fact that the stylist was tipped accordingly. Will not be returning to this location. I hope management sees these reviews and takes them seriously considering the consistency of such events. read more

Also didn't use my "paid for monthly membership service" on my account-- waived me out the door and then said, "no problem, I'll take care of it" and then I see a $100 charge on my account when it should have been $15 for a braid and $15 for tip. They have some talented stylists. Of course, some are better than others. I have probably been here 10x and had mixed experiences depending on the stylist. Some that are excellent are Angie and Jenna. Some struggle to do a round brush blowout. They recently started charging an extra 30$ if you have thick, long or textured hair. 85$ isn't worth it in my opinion. You can go to other local blowout bars for 55$ with any hair type. My friend took me here before a wedding we were attending. The stylists were running behind so we got out much later than planned which then put us in a major time crunch. My friend said she got us the extra scalp massage which was nice but lasted maybe 2 minutes. When I got styled the lady literally yanked on my head so hard with the flat iron my neck hurt after. I literally said ouch and she didn't change anything. My hair also did not look like the photos in the book, which were supposed to be loose curls and mine were very tight. BEWARE!!! They will scam you!! I have never been here before and called to see if they could do a french braid with colored hair extensions and the receptionist verified this is a service they could do (2 weeks before my actually appointment). I showed up and the first stylist said she wasn't comfortable doing it but the other stylist was. I saw the second stylist and after 10 minutes she said she couldn't do it. I waited 30 minutes to be told no one knew how to do this, so I had to cancel my appointment. Since they took my credit card when I booked (they said it's mandatory), they still charged my card $59 which originally they old me it was $35 for braids when I booked. I noticed immediately and called the next day. They promised the fees would be reversed and were not 3 days later. I called again and they said they were working on it. I finally went on their website and emailed the manager. Followed up 5 days later and they said they were still working on it. It has now been a week and I have called my credit card to file a fraudulent charge by DryBar 0/10 would recommend this place due to the incompetency of not only their stylist but of their management and policy. Once we got back the environment was very hostile and we did not feel welcomed or cared that we were there. We were then charged extra for a sub par service. I made an appointment for a visit weeks ago for a special day of taking my maternity pictures. I have had them call MANY times to cancel my appointments due to scheduling issues, and I've never made an issue about it because I get it. Life happens. But this was different. This appointment I couldn't push back, as I had a set time with a photographer I already paid, sitter I paid, etc. I get a call from Sarah, and she tells me they're canceling unless I can come in the next day or before 8 am that day. Not an hour or two from my original appointment, like a normal scheduling mistake. I told her I can't because I already hired a sitter, have an everything planned. I told her how upsetting and ridiculous this is, being so close and just getting another call like this. She then gets a nervous response and starts flipping it and making me look like the bad guy. Asking I'm being difficult. I didn't yell, curse, or anything! I simply stood my ground and help my boundaries, because I've been pushed around by this location way too many times. She nervously makes up a story that another client had a health issue and NEEDS MY APPOINTMENT TIME. WHAT? What health issue does someone have to take another person's appointment? Why not have them come in another time? It was so silly! I asked her to please figure it out and call me back with a better solution, because this is just wrong. Monday at the butt crack of dawn, while my kids are still sleeping, I get a call and voicemail that they are canceling my appointment and not letting me go back to this location again due to me holding my boundary. You guys. The victim and flip mentality at this place is beyond me. They make a mistake, they make you feel bad and then flip it and try to get out of a bad situation and screw you. I came 11 minutes late once because my sitter showed up late. I got charged the entire amount and they didn't even bat an eye. But it was what it was. This is not the first time they've done this. I have come here for years, and they just saw oh it's new ownership now. But many had had terrible experiences with the new management as well. I would come on time and wait over 30 minutes. With "oh we're running behind because someone had extensions." When the new owners took over, 14 of my membership credits disappeared and they didn't help or do anything to get them back. That's almost $700. Gone because "new owners." No integrity, rude service, no systems and just awful. It's 2025, and we expect better service in Encinitas!
