I've been going to the Station Salon for six years. In that time I've had many different stylists. They've all been exceptional. But this last time I had an issue with my extensions and was honestly worried about the health of my hair. I contacted the salon. Dana, the salon owner, immediately stepped in and took care of me. Not only did she redo my extensions beautifully, but she also colored and trimmed my hair! She made sure I was happy with the results, and my hair looks and feels amazing. I would absolutely recommend the Station Salon, the owner, and her team. They handled an uncomfortable situation with professionalism, kindness, and integrity. They did the right thing to make sure I felt heard, cared for, and satisfied. What impressed me most was how she took so much out of her day, with no advanced notice, to make me leave happy and confident. She went above and beyond to make things right, and that level of professionalism and customer care is hard to come by. The entire experience turned so positive because of her kindness, skill, and integrity. I had an amazing time at Station Salon. My stylist, Mia, absolutely slayed. She killed, cooked, and ate it!!! I wanted brighter face framing and to maintain my hair health through the whole journey. @ Leslie (hairstylist) - this was the BEST haircut appointment I've had in a loooong time (or really ever)!!! I've never gone back to the same hairstylist/ salon before because I've never been happy with the results and always felt overcharged because I have long hair but I'm already looking forward to my next appointment with Leslie! She took her time cutting and layering my hair exactly how I wanted. I love how she dry cut my hair first, did my gloss, and then further cut and trimmed my hair. I rate this business a zero. The stylist completely ruined my hair. I had so much breakage and the end result was HORRIBLE! I wanted red highlights which washed out in a week and my hair turned orange. When I went somewhere else the MASTER STYLIST couldn't believe how bad the color was applied. Even how it was cut. I highly recommend you do not go to this salon if you value customer service and a responsive management team. I visited the salon on October 23 and was charged twice for the service I received. I have called back multiple times and have spoken to different front desk employees (Liz and Megan to be exact) and it seems like refunding my money to me is not a priority to them. They took me in almost walk in for a haircut. My stylist was Alex, she said she'd been doing hair for nine years. I was very thankful to get someone with so much experience. I asked for a trim to clean up my layers without adding any new ones. I explained I was growing my layers out and working towards my hair all being the same length. Her touch during the wash was on the rough side and my face got splashed a few times. She cut the back and sectioned my hair to dust my layers but didn't bring any of it to the front to compare sides or see how falls. This is what I walked away with. There is no coherent shape, my two sides are uneven and the ends are jagged without harmony. I considered walking back in to ask for a remedy but from the initial result I lost all trust for having anyone here touch my hair. I'm shocked at the results given the good reviews I read. read more

I had an unfortunate haircut by one of the stylists at this salon. They over used the thinning sheers on my hair. I was left with limited options to fix my hair. The owner reached out that same evening. I was contacted ASAP the following morning to come into the salon. The owner personally consulted with me and is helping to repair my hair. I unfortunately need to go a lot shorter than intended. However, due to this, the owner is complimentary giving me a smoothing treatment and a new haircut to leave me feeling confident in the new style. She is committed to fully fixing this for me instead of just trying to mask the mistake with cutting it more. This is an amazing representation of Salon ownership. I went to get highlights at first with Julissa. When I arrived at the salon I requested a balyage. She proceeded to give me highlights with foils. When I asked why I was given highlights she proceeded to tell me that my hair wouldn't get lighter with just balyage. I wish that was explained to me before the service. I didn't say anything after to be amenable. At the shampoo bowl she was so rough my head was bobbing back and forth and hurt after. I told her that I liked it to be nice. I had a fabulous first appointment here since moving to Encinitas and am thrilled to have found Jen. I would have been in much sooner but the salon website lacks information or the feature of stylists' bios and specialties, the products the stylists use and fee menu, something I always rely on in selecting top salon and stylist when I'm in a new area. Despite this, I took a chance and I phoned the salon and relied on reception to guide me to a blond specialist here and Jen was recommended. This is the type of salon anyone would enjoy spending time in - uncrowded, buoyant welcoming personalities, happy chatter, interesting architectural features, lots of light, high ceiling, breezy fresh air with open front door overlooking intersection on 101. I've been meaning to update my review as I have been continuing using Station Salon. Since my previous review, which was in 2021, prices have increased to between $80-$90. What's nice is that a few years ago, they started including that on their website based on stylist you choose. So now you know how much you are paying prior to the appointment. Throughout the last few years, I was regularly going to one stylist until he had moved to another state. At that point, I wasn't sure who to choose and selected someone from the list. I went in for my normal haircut and after, felt like something was off. My friends and family said the same thing, so I reached out to Dana and expressed my concerns and she scheduled a follow up appointment next day. She was so nice and friendly and fixed my hair to what it was supposed to be. I want to express how great Dana was in allowing me to express my concerns and that she would fix it and didnt send me to a different stylist at her salon. Of course, after this encounter, a few months had passed and i needed to cut my hair again. I scheduled an appointment with Sadie, she was awesome! Friendly, nice, made me feel comfortable. She understood what i was looking for and also added her own touch to it. On their website, there is a spot that provides a little background on the stylists and that is how I chose Sadie. I highly recommend going there, I continued to go even after my previous review. the shop is cute, every stylist is super friendly, and Dana is great if you encounter an issue. read more

I now go to Station Salon because of the ultimate hair stylist Lex. I would follow her anywhere! Her knowledge of color is remarkable. More importantly, she takes her time to understand her clients hair, learning the desires of what they want and need, while being very practical and educating us on how to meet those desires and maintenance on our own in between visits with her. It is apparent how passionate she is about hair and the fulfillment of her clients to feel confident and beautiful. Along with Lex, Station Salon has bent over backwards for my daughter and fixing her hair. They have been very helpful and understanding with her through great communication and understanding her struggles. I feel it is important to praise a business especially when the owner goes above and beyond. Mom had an appointment today on New Years day. Her usual hairstylist was ill and the appointment was canceled. The owner was amazingly helpful when I called her back to reschedule for either early this afternoon or early tomorrow morning. When she was unable to meet my needs, she suggested to come at 2:00 p.m. today. When mom and I arrived, her backup hairstylist had an emergency and called out. However, the owner was there to help my mom and treated her with such kindness and care. She took my mom to the back and did a wonderful job styling her hair. Way overpriced! The front desk did little to make my reservation accurately reflect my 4 year old daughter's and mother's (71) wash and cut. Their cuts were super quick as they both have short/fine hair and the stylists were wonderful and our stylist (without prompting) tried to reconcile being overcharged for at least my daughter's haircut but the front desk staff said it was already paid and they "couldn't do anything about it". That's $90 a person after tip for a senior's short haircut, child's haircut and my own (again not complaining about the price of my haircut). Hadn't been here since this was Detour. Will not be coming back. Update - The management did credit as stated in the below. The lack of parking contributed to being late and I did relay that to the front desk on the day of my appointment. read more

I saw Whitney this past Saturday for a hair cut and she was fantastic! I decided to indulge in my obsession with all things French and get "fringe." For a long time I didn't think I could have bangs like the French women I admire... Jane Birkin, Bridgette Bardot, Jeanne Damas... because my hair is so fine and there's not a lot of it. Whitney looked at my "inspiration" photos and based on my hair type and texture, gave me fringe that would suit my hair. I love it! She also trimmed my hair overall so it looks healthier and gave me some long layers in the front. Whitney is bubbly and personable, plus I loved her style...which is what you want in a STYLIST, right?! Someone with style! She fixed my grown out highlights and gave me the exact cut and color I asked for. She also recommended rosemary oil treatments for thinning spots and what shampoo would be better for my texture and color.
