I got my hair done by Angie last week and she was amazing!!! She cut layers in my hair and styled it, definitely recommend.

This was a horrible experience. Don't let the fact that they sell Olaplex and other high end products fool you. They don't use them on your hair. In fact, I am not sure that the woman that did my hair even got all of my hair wet when she washed it. She literally had me shampooed and "conditioned" in less than 5 minutes. Their advertised 29.95 sign for a cut and style was over 75 before tip. Not all of their stylists blow dry. The one who did my hair had to ask for advice on whether she should use a product on my hair before drying. My hair was literally being pulled from my scalp. I would never, ever, ever return here. So glad I only got a trim and didn't trust them with color. I only went here because I was desperate before a trip. Lesson learned. read more

Visited for the first time to Shannon because of a friend's recommendation. I showed pictures of Sabrina Carpenter and ended up with 2002 Kelly Clarkson highlights! Also left with a reddish tone to my hair that was not there before. Truly tragic! I returned after speaking to management and Shannon redid it on a second date. First thing I would say is that I have been going to this salon for almost 8 years. I've been through 2 stylists and couldn't be happier with Lynnette. She does an amazing job and never fails to amaze. Not my reason for my review today. The manager of this salon has got to get it together for this shop. I don't know how many times because I honestly quit counting between Lynette and the other girl working had to stop what they were doing either cutting hair, coloring, blow-drying. Do you even realize how far behind that puts your stylist and how irritating it is to your client. Lady hire someone that does the phone, they can be 16! They can answer the phone, make appointments, sweep, fold towels, all the crap you make your stylists do. Needed a haircut on Sunday evening before the work week. It was close to closing at 5:30 pm but this place is vey close to where I live so I figured hurry and why not try. The lady was so rude at Cal Cuts! The door was wide propped open. I walked in at 5:20 and asked like this I know it's close to closing, can you still take one? She said "we're already closed" all snotty. I looked at my watch and I said it's now 5:21 and your door was wide open... I just left and will not be back. I made an appointment for my mother to have her hair done special for her grand daughters wedding. A once in a lifetime event. I am devastated. Booked 2 months out. Had her hair cut 2 weeks ago by Shannon. Confirmed the wedding day style appointment and walk in today to be shoved off on someone my mother has. Never met!!! Yes. The person did a fine job. I am livid. My mother is 91 years old and can't have a change easily and feel comfortable. I went out of my way to confirm and book in advance. I have never get so horrible on such an important date. My daughter and I have been coming to Cali cuts to see Miriya for a few years now and we love her! She does an amazing job cutting and styling your hair (I normally bring pictures as a visual guide of what I want or style similar) and she's always right on the money. Miriya is young, beautiful, funny, caring, honest, and helpful. She's got a great personality and is hysterical!! I needed a trim desperately so decided to make a stop here since it was on my way home from work. I was in a rush and my usual stylist was not available. Located off the Poinsettia exit in Carlsbad in the Ralphs/CVS south-side shopping center sits this small salon. I walk in and it was actually pretty busy. I didn't have a wait and was serviced by a Russian stylist. First impression - I didn't expect this place to be so old and dated. Perhaps I was used to my old salon where the stations are modern and up to date ??? My stylist was nice and friendly, but I'm not sure if I'd return here. My hair was shampooed but not conditioned. She did offer a "free" conditioning but after I had left the wash area and sat back in the chair. I told her I was in a hurry. I conveyed that I wanted to keep my length and layers, as well as a bang trim. From the way my hair was trimmed, it seemed as though I could have just done it myself. She took my crown and pretty much chopped it straight across. The same was done to my length. She did compliment the way my own stylist cuts my hair and mentioned that she was "good", and even told a fellow stylist that my cut is how she wanted her hair. And not just a trim, a very dramatic short a line bob. They booked me with Kathy, and I nervously walked in hoping for the best. Did I ever luck out!!! She gave me the best haircut I have ever had. So incredibly precise, and exactly what I wanted! She takes her time, and is a true professional. Plus she's super sweet and fun to talk to. I'm so grateful I rolled the dice and found her. Writing this review on behalf of my friend. She and her sister got their haircuts today. She did not know how to manage textured hair and kept calling my friend's hair "dry" because of it. She also touched her eyebrows without her consent and told her to "clean them up." Throughout the haircut, the hairdresser also kept unprofessionally moving my friend's mask to accommodate the trimming. I have been going to California Cuts for years (I use to live close, but still drive now). I only see Fernando - he is great - I am always really happy with my cut. Granted, I am a guy so my hair isn't too complicated, but over the years I've have shorter and longer hair ... even a fauxhawk. This "salon" could definitely use a visit from Tabatha Coffee (of Tabatha's Salon Takeover). They did have a light remodel recently (new paint, removed fake plants, cleaner look). If you are looking for something high end, look elsewhere. They have a lot of product and are happy to order things for me. Excellent value and very convenient. Approximately two years ago Salon Adair over processed my hair and it all broke off. Salon Adair did not take responsibility for this. I went to California Cuts on the recommendation of my husband. I met Theresa who was very empathetic and said it was obvious that my hair was over processed. It took me two years to grow out. Theresa was no longer working there. I had two other stylist do my roots. No problem. Two weeks ago I called and asked who was good with color. Shannon said we all are. I met with Shannon. She said she was going to do something different. Put a product on my hair and put me under the dryer. The dryer was burning my head and she never checked on me. I had explained what had happened in the past before she treated my hair. Needless to say, I AM DEVASTATED. MY HAIR IS NOW BREAKING OFF ALL THE WAY TO THE CROWN. My son just walked out with the worst haircut in his 14 year life. My at-home Covid cuts were better! He asked for an inch off and came out with short hair- not even close to what he asked for. The "stylist" cut at least 3" off and made it shorter in the sides, longer in the back (think mullet.) The guy told him "don't worry, it'll be fine." $25 later. Had to download Yelp just to state how awful my haircut was. Guy was nice but all he had to do was buzz my hair evenly and he rushed through it and left long strands sticking out, uneven sideburns. My advice would be don't let the dude near your hair, hopefully the others are better. read more

We get good haircuts and good prices. I would give a four star review but when we called for appointments the lady that we spoke with for appointments didn't speak English. She didn't write our names down and we showed up only to wait twenty five minutes for them to squeeze us in. The owner didn't apologize and when I asked why they have someone answering the phone that doesn't speak English the owner just said they all take turns. That makes no sense. If someone can't communicate on the phone why the heck would you have them answer it?!?!?! Also they are all very nice I really wanted to give them more stars. My advice - go here for a good haircut at a good price but call for a reservation first. And if the lady answers who doesn't speak English make sure to hang up and call back to talk with someone else. read more

Haircuts - I totally hate them. Well, I DREAD going there for some odd reason. Recently I finally caved and visited California Cuts in Carlsbad. Nice place. Anyway, on the way pondered this strange phobia. When tracing the origins of my "BARBER-BLUES" a notorious cut that took place many years earlier flashed in my mind. I was much younger. Impressionable. I eagerly sat waiting to get a trim...scanning the many "ULTRA AWESOME COOL" 80's cuts that seemed to be hand drawn. It appeared some of these hair styles required (at minimum) a black leather jacket and smug look. I also distinctly remember seeing a can of AQUA NET and wanted to use copious amounts on my already crusty hair. I was feeling pretty dope in my JAMS shorts and YELLOW "OP" T-shirt. My turn finally arrived and I jumped into the chair! I'm not sure what "new look" I requested but the lady kinda laughed and began to wash the CRUST ROCK GEL outta my hair. She was saying something but I couldn't make it out - I was focused on my AWESOMENESS. She busted out the scissors and got to work! My RADICAL look was coming along nicely. She mumbled something. I was already planning how much GEL I WAS GONNA GOOP all over this fresh look when she finished. She mumbled. OHHHH yeah, so much gel this look would be "LOCKED IN" for weeks and weeks! , S **** N **** I **** P!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OUCH I got NINJA snipped in the ear! OHHHHHHH she was telling me TO STOP MOVING AROUND IN THE CHAIR!!!!!! OK, that's fair - lesson learned. Painful yes but let's just say the yellow shirt got some BRIGHT RED ACCENTS that day. Dramatic to a little kid. That sweet shirt was like TOTALLY RUINED dude! The thrill of "haircut day" gone in a instant. That AQUA NET sale for damn sure lost. LOL who am I kidding...I think my Dad was paying for my haircut that day. All I had in my Velcro wallet was baseball cards and a piece of paper with my home phone number...ONLY TO BE USED IN CASE OF EMERGENCIES. YES......that was the day that changed me forever. BTW California Cuts is great! They've been in this plaza for years. Friendly staff with lots of regulars. Good prices for a men's cut and plenty of product to keep ya lookin fresh lol. I give this California Cutter 7 "little kid dramatic moments" out of 10. read more
