I absolutely loved my experience at Drybar today usually I'm hesitant with people dealing with my hair because I have 3B/3C hair and it usually never holds a blowout but today I booked the day of and I didn't get her name, but the girl at the front desk was an absolute angel and was so sweet. My stylist Karyn was absolutely amazing and so sweet made great conversation in the entire time. I told her about my worry of my blow dry and not holding, and she made sure of that not happening. I've been going to Drybar for many years and usually love it, but today was a letdown -- and honestly, I left feeling more stressed than pampered. My stylist was kind and professional, and my hair needed some extra love -- I was upfront about that. The appointment was booked for 1 hour 15 minutes, and she spent maybe 1 hour 20. Totally reasonable for thick hair. But while I was still in the chair, the front desk came over to talk to her -- in front of me -- about unpaid breaks, time issues, and the next client waiting. It was awkward, unprofessional, and made both of us feel rushed. Then at checkout, I was told for the first time that there's a new policy where if your hair takes longer than an hour, it's an automatic $30 upcharge. If it hits 2 hours? $60. Nowhere in the app or booking process did it say that. No warning, no opt-in -- just "surprise, here's your surcharge." I understand needing policies for longer services, but this needs to be transparent upfront, not sprung on clients after the fact. And conversations about breaks or timing should never happen in front of a customer. Sadly won't be coming back to this location. There are too many other places that know how to respect both the client's time and their peace of mind. read more

The location isn't great, my technician didn't listen to me AT ALL about what I wanted, she talked the whole time until I finally just closed my eyes to get the message across and then instead she HUMMED to the music the whole time. Today I went to Drybar on Ventura Boulevard in Encino. I had an appointment and arrived on time. The hairstylist asked what I wanted, and I showed her exactly the style I was expecting. We went to wash my hair, and she started applying shampoo. I noticed the water was cold, so I politely asked if she could make it a little warmer. She didn't respond clearly at first, so after a moment I said again, "Excuse me, the water is very cold. Can you please make it warmer?" That's when she told me the water heater was not working and she couldn't make it hotter. I was surprised and told her that if the water heater wasn't working, they should have informed me before starting the service. That is important information for a customer to know. I wasn't feeling well that day -- I had flu symptoms and a headache -- and I came specifically for a relaxing scalp massage and blowout. Cold water was the last thing I needed. She insisted that the water was "warm" and said she didn't understand what I was talking about. I know the difference between cold, warm, and hot water, and this was definitely cold. It is not fair to begin a service without informing the client that the hot water is not functioning. At that point, my hair was already full of shampoo, so I felt stuck. I asked her to quickly finish washing my hair so I could speak to a manager. I explained the situation to the front desk staff, but they didn't seem concerned. They simply said "sorry" and that was it. There was no real effort to resolve the situation or make me feel heard. I left feeling disappointed. This experience was not professional, and customer service should be handled much better -- especially when there is an issue that affects the comfort and health of the client. read more

I will start that my review goes for experience - that just happened. 1-19-25 I come here very often and every time I book the first appointment ( today at 9 AM) I'm never seen before 9:20-9:30. Today 4 ppl had an appt at 9, and the first stylist showed up at 9-12AM. I was called at 19:18 and the person told me, I'm sorry I don't do clip-in extensions... Check-in failed. I booked an appt with extensions. 3 of us were super upset about the situation. The receptionist was so rude and not caring at all. She refused to call manager, Rachel l, but two of us have her cell#. She picked up l but refused to do anything. Instead of comp ppl who are waiting that amount of time, per receptionist said she wouldn't do anything because we would still be out of the salon at 10 AM. According to my app, my appt should be done at 9;45AM... Now its 9:41 and my hair is full-on wet. This is so unprofessional and rude. I was taken by another nice stylist at 9:29 AM.... This is not a stylist's mistake. This is a poor scheduling and poor management problem. I'm just so sad that we all were treated with disrespect and rudeness by the receptionist and the not caring manager. The only thing she should do is to apologize and comp our style... so sad. I looked at the app to make sure I'm on my way to the right location and I see that my appointment was pushed back 30 minutes so instead of 7 AM. I'll be seen at 7:30 AM I get there and the receptionist tells me that she rescheduled my appointment for me at 7:30 but they're not gonna be able to do a blow dry it's just gonna be able to be a dry styling. I kindly asked why she would just reschedule an appointment without calling me or notifying me, I would've preferred her to just cancel my appointment for me and then reschedule and not be able to commit to what they said that they were gonna do. Full disclosure: I only came to this location to see Denise, who used to only be at Topanga, but she splits time between these two places. Pros: Parking lot in the back (not to be confused with the bank parking lot); in very busy Encino, it's nice to have a dedicated lot and not have to worry about finding a meter. Friendly staff, who greeted me quite warmly when I walked in. Cons: Many of the stations were lacking in a dryer or hot tools, so we needed to move a few times. Only two chairs for people to sit and wait. While I didn't need to wait for Denise, there were more than 2 people waiting and there is enough space to at least put a bench for more people to be able to sit. read more

I love Drybar, in general, but Encino is quickly becoming my favorite. Easy parking, everyone's a blowdrying wizard, and the salon is so cute and clean! Make appointments online or call the shop. Their hours are quite generous if you need to come in early or a bit later in the day. At about $55 for a blowdry, it's in-line with other local norms. Add a product for ~$12 more. A blowdry comes with shampoo first, so budget an hour per visit. If you like any of their add-on options, invest in a bottle size of the product. The frizz sealant is my go-to, for sure. This place has gone so far downhill. I booked a 9:15 appointment on Sunday and was taken about ten minutes late. I had an event to be at at 11am and left enough time to go home and change before since the service shouldn't have taken more than an hour. I ended up finally leaving at 10:42. There's no reason my cosmo tai blowout should have taken almost an hour and a half. I added a scalp massage which was done with a rubber massager seemingly off of Amazon. The facilities need an upgrade - worn chairs in the waiting area and paint chipping on the drawers. Overall pretty mediocre experience, Drybar is not what it once was. read more

Today, I showed up a tad late (12 minutes), and nearly got turned away from my appt because my hair was damp and I scheduled a dry style. Ultimately, they were able to style my hair but was charged the blowout price... fine & understandable. I'd be perfectly fine with that had they executed my chosen hair style - old fashioned curls. Unfortunately, I'm 2 hours from my scheduled family event, and having to style my hair myself because my hair is completely flat. Disappointing. The stylist felt rushed and must have known she didn't do a good job because she made it seem as though it was my hair's texture that was the issue. Went once and had an amazing experience. Went a second time and learned my lesson. Not only was the "style" absolutely not what I asked for, my hair was gummy, sticky and felt filthy. No more than 10 hours later, I needed to put it in a ponytail because it looked like absolute garbage. Furthermore, the stylist burned my ear not once, but twice with a flat iron. When I said "ouch", she replied with "oops, sorry". I had a red burn mark left on my ear for 2 days following my visit. I tried contacting this location, as well as the Drybar corporate office to request a full refund - as the style was not AT ALL what I had asked for, my hair looked terrible and I didn't appreciate being burned twice! My calls to the studio and my emails have all gone ignored. Their "customer service" is a joke, as you cannot even call to speak with someone in person! You can only email, which they never replied to. I don't like throwing money in the trash and that's exactly what you'll do if you come here. I have been coming to dry for over a year now and when I tell you this was by far the worst service I have ever received I mean it to my core. To start off I had set my appointment for 12 and I realized 30 minutes before I was going to be late.. I call the receptionist and she sounds like she's drunk over the phone or hung over. I begin to explain to her if she could change my time to 12:30 she says she can do 1:30 and I said no that's not what I need. I state again I would like to push it back to 12:30 so I can be on time she says ok and clicks on me. OK ?? So I get to dry bar at 12:28 ON TIME... I nicely chat with the other lady waiting to be taken in by her hairstylist for about 5 minutes. The receptionist literally looked like she had rolled out of bed and had a long night just like how I assumed. She begins to ask for my name and I tell her and show her my confirmation email of my appt. She states that she can't find me in the system and that she doesn't see me and I tell her that I had an appt and I called her and spoke to her and she said "yes I suddenly remember" ??? Still stating that I have no appt in the system. This receptionist as well tells the nice lady I was speaking to that she couldn't find her in the system and she doesn't have an appt. The lady says "i don't know what ur talking about my hair stylist is on the way and I have my confirmation appt so idk what ur saying". We are all frustrated and confused with her at this point. So then she makes me wait until 1 pm... which I really didn't mind because I love getting my hair blow out and ladies we know this is a place for relaxing and me time. Little did I know this was going to be the worst experience ever. So the hairstylist "nasim" comes and gets me.... She doesn't introduce herself at all , she just walks me straight to the back doesn't even let me put my stuff down... Don't put too much attention to it since I have my dog on with me. I begin to sit down and my dog sniffs her feet. Before you ask yes she's a service dog, service dogs are allowed at dry bar. "Nasim says I'm allergic to dogs". Respectfully I do not care if she's allergic to dogs I could've easily been given another stylist, you saw me waiting in the front for over 30 minutes if you had a issue with me having my service animal you could've declined due to your "allergies." However I digress, she begins to wash my hair with the hottest boiling water... I tell her politely "can you cool it down it's hot" she says sorry and does it the first time. This is where everything goes downhill !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She then asks me "if I'm from the us" ?? " I said excuse me, what do you mean by that". She asks me again " where we're you born" ?. I say "I'm from Guatamala, I am Guatemalan". Nassim then tells me "oh, I thought you were like Saudi Arabian because you look like a Saudi girl" ??? I don't know what that even means nor has anyone ever asked me that before so I say "ok". Nassim asks me AGAIN "If I was citizen here in the us"?? I was shocked with this conversation because what does it matter wherever the rats ass I'm from or if I'm a citizen ?? ?? Very rude & intrusive questions if you ask me ........ I come to dry bar to get a nice wash & blow out & this hairstylist is adamant about getting to the bottom of where I'm from ?? All while still putting the HOTTEST WATER on my scalp which I tell her 3 times ... "can you please cool down the water it's super hot" She says "oh sure sure .. every single time" WHATEVER still being patient we begin to move to the dry station where I sit down and where she begins to put the heat on the highest heat you can have it not only that it she is just aiming it at my scalp and at my extensions( I have I tips with plastic beads at the root, therefore you can not put to much heat at the root or the beads will melt) I'm looking at nasim in the mirror seeing what's she's doing & she's just has the blow dry to my scalp ON HIGH, I tell her 2-3 times if she can lower the heat as my scalp is burning and I keep fidgeting because I can't take all that heat to my bare scalp??! She begins to brush my hair down ... & of course like I said before the beads are MELTING & my extensions begin to fall out. She brushes out 5 pieces of my I tip extensions that I pay 1400 dollar for and says "I don't know what's happening there falling off". At this point I had enough ... because you know what your doing, your just being passive aggressive and rude and I will not accept that treatment when I come to dry bar once a week and always tip & come to numerous locations. I say "what's happening is these are extensions with beads around, you can not put to much heat at the root or they will begin to fall off like this, you are putting too much heat you need to lower down the heat because your just taking out my hair" read more

I'm actually quite appalled by the service I received today. Staring off, I was 2 minutes early for my appointment at 2:30 pm at your encino location. I booked a 15 minute scalp massage along with a blow out. My stylist called me back on time and she did not properly greet me besides "hi what hair style do you want?" Right next to a loud blow dryer. I was taken aback and said "just a normal blow out please" she then turned around and had me follow her to the sink where I was suppose to receive my 15 minute scalp massage. I sat down at 2:31. The stylist shampooed my hair for 4 minutes, massaged my scalp for 3 minutes, then conditioned my hair for 4 minutes. By 2:41 (I have photos and time stamps of everything) I was being walked to my chair. The stylist continued to remain silent through the entire appointment which I found extremely rude. Something as simple as "hi how are you? How is your day? Any plans for the day?" Would have been the bare minimum the stylist could have asked. Upon reaching the end of my appointment, she unraveled my hair then said "all done. Do you want to look in the mirror?" Mind you, she did not once adjust my hair before asking that so when I turned around my hair was still fairly separated. She then applied hairspray and walked away. She did not pay attention to the fact that she left all of my baby hairs curly and sticking out. My hair looked like a balloon with baby hair sticking out and flat on the bottom. I then walked myself to the front and paid for my extremely expensive treatment, half of which I never received. That "scalp massage" was the biggest joke of a "massage" I've ever received and to think I had to pay extra for that was appalling. I have photos of everything mentioned in this message so please feel free to let me know if you would like me to submit them privately. But I am now out $85 dollars because I had to tip as well and have a blow out I now have to fix with my own tools at home. I never experienced a bad blow dry until I visited this location. I usually go to the Studio City or Burbank location but because of availability I came to Encino. I'm not sure if it was the technique or products used but I left with tangled hair! Never in my life have I experienced that in all the years I've straightened my hair. I couldn't even run my fingers through my hair after I was done. I also had to stop the girl mid blow dry and ask her to comb my hair before blow drying because she was yanking so hard. I have curly hair and I don't think she knew how to blow dry my hair. I voiced my concerns and she tried to fix it but couldn't. The girl checking me out also offered to fix it but I declined because of the amount of heat that was already used. I came home and washed my $60 + tip blow dry. Extremely disappointed. This is not a review of the stylist. She was awesome and did my hair amazingly. What I have a problem with is the scheduling. My appointment was at 11:45 and I was seated at 12. When I asked the receptionist why I wasn't seated, she said I have no one available. While 3 of us are waiting. Why schedule so many people? I work with scheduling and I schedule accordingly. That's the whole point of making an appointment. When I left I got my receipt and appointment said 12. I wanted to make it clear that appointment was at 11:45. I was not sure why receipt says otherwise. I wasn't going to write a review because the stylist made up for the schedule, but then when I got my receipt I was pissed. They didn't have anyone to do her service and we had to go to another location last minute. 6 months ago I booked and when I got there they didn't have anyone to do my blow out. I had to wait 1.5 hours. Then today I got there at 1:30. It was 100% my mistake the appointment was at 1:00. I wrote it down wrong. However, I already had washed hair and they still wouldn't see me skipping this part. But the part that really bothered me was the intake girl. She was so rude and lacked any empathy. A little me time before 2020 LA YEE Badge Day at Valley Relics! This was my first time to the Encino location and was definitely pleased! Thank you to my stylist, Bella for creating my Southern Cosmo look! Volume on top, and tight curls on the bottom. Best of all, my curls lasted throughout the whole night, especially, through the surprised windy weather. Parking: Free parking behind the building (which they also share with Panera and Vitamin Shoppe). Bella came and got me at 3:15pm (15mins earlier than my scheduled 3:30pm appointment). I sat down on my chair, and we got to the consultation talk: What kind of style I wanted and am I okay with products. Afterwards, we walked me back to the shampooing station, and we got down to business. She shampooed, conditioned, and massaged my scalp and hair. We then walked back to my chair, and my hot peppermint tea was waiting for me. I liked how thorough Bella is. She was careful with blow drying my hair, putting on the rollers and curling my hair as well as covering my eyes with her hand when she got to spraying products. I also liked that when she blow dried, she didn't pull hair on my hair. After everything was done, she let me check it out before leaving. After inspection, I had her fatten out one of the curls in the back for more coverage, sprayed some Detox Brunette Dry Shampoo on top of my scalp where it was thinned and finished it off with a light spray of The Sheriff.
