I already gave him more than 50% after he finished half of the project. I told him that because he changed his price midway, he didn't have to finish the job. (I have a handyman that can finish the small painting job of an hour.) After I told him that I no longer wanted to work with him because he changed the price (at that point, I already paid more than 50% of the original estimated price), Ben became mean, aggressive and demanded even more money from me, wouldn't leave my property, pounding on my door - made me feel unsafe at my own house. He took the picture of my house and the way to get into the backyard without asking me for permission and threatened me. He said that I would be sorry for this or something similar to that. Similar to Anna M., I had to call the police. ~~~ Not long after we had an abnormal interaction with Ben, someone drove a sedan type car and parked next to our house at 4 am (near the area Ben took pictures of our house without our permission), the thief ended up stealing things from one of our cars. ~~ Now we installed security cameras all around the house and we reported all of these incidents to the police. We live in a very safe neighborhood normally. Now we also alert our neighbors to look out for abnormal activities as well.

Extremely Unprofessional and Disturbing Experience with Benjamin Gomez…read more I had a deeply troubling experience with this contractor, Benjamin Gomez. I hired him to repair a small set of stairs and a handrail. The stairs were completed by two workers he brought in, and that part was acceptable. However, Mr. Gomez did not complete the handrail repair as promised, skipped important steps, and left the work sloppy and unprofessional, yet he demanded full payment for the partially and unprofessionally completed work on the handrails. At the beginning of the project, I paid half of the total cost as a down payment per his request. When I asked for a receipt, he claimed he did not have it with him and would email it, which he never did. He then asked me to write checks without anything in the memo line, stating it would "mix up his taxes." Midway through the work, he requested additional cash payments ($500), which I paid for materials. Again, when I asked for receipt confirmation, he promised he would email it but never did. When I repeatedly asked him for receipts or confirmation of payment, he kept making excuses and eventually refused to provide any receipts for the checks or cash he received. He also kept changing the agreed price and the agreed steps of the work throughout the project, making the entire process unreliable and frustrating. Eventually, I asked him to finish the job before releasing the final part of the payment. At that point, he showed up at our door unexpectedly, forcibly entered the house, and demanded full payment for the handrails, which in my experience were only partially and unprofessionally completed. When I explained that I could not pay the full fee under these circumstances, he threatened to hurt me and my family and to damage our home if he did not receive the payment. I made the payment online to de-escalate the situation, but as his aggression continued to rise, I told him I would contact the police. The incident was handled through law enforcement, and he quickly left, but on his way out, he damaged the handrail with the metal scraper he had brought. Based on my experience, Benjamin Gomez was unprofessional, unreliable, and threatening, and made me feel unsafe in my own home. I would strongly recommend avoiding this contractor. Jack was responsive and fantastic to work with. He came by to look at our house to give us an estimate. He was not hurried, took time to listen and make suggestions. He was easy to schedule and responded to our texts and emails promptly. For the basement, we had him put up drywall, paint the entire room, patch holes in the ceiling left by our electricians while rewiring the house. For the updates, he framed the mirror above our mantle, added shelves to our dining room built ins, got us custom sized closet doors for our bedrooms plus installation, put up mirrors and curtains and the list goes on. Jack finished everything on time. He arrived bright and early everyday, stayed on schedule despite the small additions to the list of stuff we wanted to get done. He left the house perfectly clean and livable every evening. We plan to use him for any painting, carpentry or handyman work in the future. Its really hard to find someone trustworthy to do a perfect job , who is easy to communicate to, has a positive attitude, thoroughly professional and can handle a variety of tasks. He is priced right and gave us solid suggestions. I would wholeheartedly recommend using him for your remodel needs for your peace of mind.

John has been professionally painting homes for 30 years and he knows what he is doing. He was helpful in picking out colors, the type of paint and every other decision we made with this job. John and his crew were so considerate of our home, our plants and our needs. We have had several people come to our home since and comment on the beautiful job the painters did. Even our window washer commented on what a high quality job the painting was and was amazed there wasn't paint on our windows. John Loft's prices are reasonable and we paid what he quoted. From the beginning, Sam was the most responsive communicator of all the companies I reached out to, which is one of the reasons we chose him for the job. His bid was reasonable, and we liked his professionalism. When we asked to reschedule from the spring because a bird had built its nest right next to the house, Sam was very gracious and said he'd work us in once the babies had flown the nest. He then booked us for the week of the 4th of July, and two of his guys worked a full day on the holiday to get everything done within a week. This was during a heat wave, so we were especially impressed by their work ethic! They also showed great attention to detail, which is evident in how beautiful it looks.
