Tried Dawn for the first time today and while I am spoiled from the amazing stylist I have back home, Dawn did an excellent job at correcting an awful haircut from another stylist. If you are looking for a great cut from someone who is kind, calming, sweet, super talented, versatile, and I could go on and on, Dawn is your girl. My hair is thick, has a mind of its own, and Dawn can give me a cut that not only looks good when I walk out, but stays looking good even if life doesn't let me get back in until two months later! My first time getting a pixie cut I was very sensitive about it turning out perfect, I found Dawn through Yelp and she did exactly what I wanted her to. She knows what she is doing, everytime I go to her she does a phenomenal job and I get so many compliments on my hair later on. I've referred several people to her and they all fell in love with their haircuts and became regualr clients. Dawn was amazing! Like others, I found her on Yelp and booked my appointment online. My hair was in really bad shape: split ends, frizzy, and dull. It was long, about halfway down my back, but I was fully prepared to chop it off to get it healthy again. We talked about what I needed to freshen it up and much to my surprise I was able to keep it just at or below my shoulders. She made a few suggestions for training my hair and even helped me find a colorist. The best part, my husband loved my cut when I got home, which says a lot because he prefers longer hair! I've been going to Dawn for my haircuts for over 6 years, for one good reason: She's the best. Usually I'll tell her something along the lines of "I want my hair short" or "I just want something that'll look good", and she's one of the few people I trust enough where I know she'll get the job done and have me coming out looking like someone from Thunder From Down Under (at least the hair part). In fact, I could probably even take a nap while she's cutting my hair, but that's never the case, because she's always super friendly and fun to talk to. Dawn knows how to give the most easy and well formed cut that I know. Anything I have seen her give me, my mother in law, or my mother has been up to date, easy maintenance, and is such a good c it that even when it grows out a bit, the cut still holds up. She will be bluntly honest if you are looking for a change, which is something I like. She works well with edgy cuts but still knows how to please the more traditional crowd. This is the 21st Century & there are still stylist who don't want to cut "ethnic" hair as they claim. Regardless of the grade of hair, this stylist, Dawn Sun, said she was "not comfortable" cutting my hair, even though I had seen the cut on her website, which is why I chose to book a appointment for the cut. She had every excuse in the book, including recommending me to the stylist next door, who just happens to be an African American hair stylist. Had I known about them when I searched the web for hair stylist in Allen, I would have chosen one of them. However, her salon popped up & I assumed she was creditable. Apparently, I was wrong. Therefore, if looking for someone to cut your "ethnic" hair, DS Studios is NOT the place to go. read more
