I went in wanting to come out a raspberry, and raspberry I became I had an appointment at 4:30, but they had an opening at 4. I was in by 4 and out by 6:30. For a bleach, color, and cut with washing in between, that's quite a short time! I was comfortable throughout, as Kaz made sure to keep asking if I was okay (bleach can sting the scalp) and only needed to show the stylist the reference pictures a few times. Nanako was great! From shampooing to cutting to styling, I cannot praise her/this salon for their attention to detail. At the end of shampooing, they put a warm towel around your neck which felt amazing! I have never bleached my entire head before and was very apprehensive about doing so but wanted a change. The few times I've tried balayage highlights- my hair always turned out stripey and cheap. After much research, I decided to try Hiro at ARUKAS hair. I brought my peach wig and he immediately told me it was impossible to achieve without serious damage to my shiny black hair. I asked him to try to make it as light as he could and it turned out a beautiful shiny coppery shade. We waited 7 weeks to do the 2nd process and I'm really happy! I really enjoyed my experience here! My stylist was Nana and she did a great job with my balayage. I have dark, coarse Asian hair that is difficult to dye. It also pulls very warm toned when bleached and often results in an unappealing orange tinge whenever I try to lighten it. Despite all of this, Nana was able to lighten my hair several shades to a light ash brown without damaging the strands. The customer service here is phenomenal as well. A complimentary head massage and drinks were included. I was offered a blanket and the stylist held the door open for me as I left. These little gestures made me feel super welcomed. I had Nana as my stylist today. I came in for a haircut and possibly a toner. However, I ended up not needing a toner and I never felt pressured to do more to my hair than what I wanted. Nana was so sweet and amazing at what she does! I was able to layer my hair, which is always a fear of mine because I have my hair dyed ombré blonde. As someone who had to go through 5 years of hair dyeing to get to the color I have now, it's scary to think about losing that color over a haircut. Nana understood my concern and gave me the most wonderful haircut I've received in a long time. She was able to layer my hair beautifully! She made sure I was happy with the length as we progressed through the session. I love her consideration! I opted for an ultrasonic treatment of my hair. This is said to help the texture of the hair immediately. When you dye your hair so much, the hair looks fried and frayed afterwards and it was bothering me so much. It only cost me $70 for a haircut and this treatment. I felt that was very reasonable because women's haircuts are usually around $50 or so. The shampoo experience was also wonderful. It felt so nice and relaxing. I think Nana used a tea tree oil for my hair. They even put this silicone mask on the top part of your face so no water gets on you. I love the uniqueness of this salon as it is unlike any other I've been to. I'm so, so happy with this salon and the professionalism and skill of Nana. I will definitely be back for my next trim. Being new-ish to the area and my stylist is 700+ miles away, I decided to try this salon for a trim. Since I have long hair, I'm not picky about how much they cut but am particular about their technique. First, the massage (with a blanket - nice touch for someone that is always cold) while shampooing was soooo relaxing, I almost forgot why I was there. Then the cut was pretty fast. She spent more time styling. What I did like was when she layered my hair she didnt razor my hair, which really damages. I've been here twice already, and they just keep improving. My hairdresser was Kaori. From entering, she took my coat, sat me down, and took the time to understand how I want my hair cut. I described it, and she also showed me picture to confirm the hairstyle. I received a complimentary drink of yuzu tea after; you can choose from a list ranging from just water to coffee to other tea. After, Kaori took careful, meticulous time to trim and style my hair with very soft delicate touches. I've never had anyone touch my head that carefully before. After the cut, she confirmed the style and length with me, and i received a nice shampoo and with head massage. They also gave me a hot towel to wipe any additional hair off my face. Overall, very nice and clean fade on the side. Very close attention to detail. My only small complaint would be i hope they styled with clay or wax instead of gel afterwards. Kaori!!!! She is the best. So far I have gotten hair cuts and Japanese hair straightening from her. She is a perfectionist when it comes to cutting hair. She is so precise and detailed. I have very thick, frizzy hair that's hard to tame. (I have been to so many hair stylist and had to end up keeping my hair in a pony tail until a bad hair cut grows out). Seiko was the one who did my japanese hair for 2 years and she charged me 250 (she left arukas this year so I have to go with new person , Arukas said, he is very good). This year a gentleman who moved from california did my hair and charged me 300. He spend less than 2.5 hours on my hair. For 8 years, I have been doing my japanese hair (before Arukas, it was different salon). I know the process. they wash the hair before applying step 1. this person in Arukas did not wash my hair. My hair right now is very rough everytime I wash, splitends, and lot of knots everytime I comb. I am very unhappy. I wish i can give 0 star. Upon calling Arukas, the gentleman said he will fix it. I do not want to go back there. I dont like chemicals on my hair again in less than few weeks. read more

I went for a lob haircut, but this time was a bit disappointing... She didn't quite finish trimming the edges on the back of my hair. It looked like maybe some grade school kid cut my hair and left it all in different lengths that had jagged ends! And then there is a huge chunk of short layer in the back that is not blended and it looked like a chunk of step... It looked so bad beyond words... I had to have my husband trim with a sissors at home quite a few times so I don't look so bad... It is too bad, I personally really liked Madoka. My quest to find the right stylist continues! I wonder how someone that is in hairstyling business for 13 years can give me a messed up haircuts in two times in a row. Update: I went into a different salon to fix my hair from Madoka's haircut. The verdict is that the previous haircut from Arukas's salon is so bad it will take 2-3 haircuts to make it right again... I now have very short bob to even things out. I just don't know how incompetent stylist can actually work in a salon that makes you pay 50 $ for a damn haircut that is literally amateur level cut. I needed a new place for a haircut, and after a little research and review-reading, settled on ARUKAS. They did not disappoint! Though, considering all I asked for was just a slightly layered cut to my collarbone, I wouldn't have expected it to be hard to live up to my expectations. Suzuki was very courteous and gentle with my hair, and it was obvious that he cared very much about precision and neatness in his work. I like knowing that I'm in good hands when it comes to my hair! Though he doesn't really talk much (I'm going to chalk it up to a bit of a language barrier), it was easy for me to communicate what I wanted, and for him to give me advice on how to care for my hair.
