I am renaming DSW to become "Sneakerville USA!" When, you walk in the door, you can see 20, maybe more, rows of sneakers and running shoes. I mean it was hundreds of name brand sneakers to choose from. I was with my oldest granddaughter and this was our second stop for new shoes. She couldn't find a style she liked at the first store. Well, we had a moment of silence, JK, before looking up and down the rows of sneakers. She tried on several pairs and fell in love with the Reebok's. Now, I have to say that $85 dollars is the going rate for a pair of nice sneakers for a teenager. So, I think it was a good value. This is a clean and well organized store. The service we received was mostly at the checkout counter and that went smoothly. I am really happy to see the big smile on my granddaughter's face as she left with the shoes she loved. read more

I was looking to get some new Birks (Birkenstocks) and I had seen a unique big buckle pair at my local DSW but not in my size. Side note: My lovely shoe size is usually the one on display & typically they only have one in that size so you're SOL if you don't get it right away. Don't think that people with small feet have it better cause we don't lol but we can get kids shoes = less $$$ but not always as comfortable depending on the shoe. But I digress lol. Anyhoo, I crossed the bridge into Maryland trying to find these Birks bc the website said this location had them. I found the one & only box in my size but some bunghole put the wrong size pair in it aka too big! Not really sure why you take a smaller size shoe and put it in a bigger size box, but whatever. I decided to look at some other options & found these coolass beauties called Lavender Sparkle. They're more of a gray, but they are genuine leather with a super soft suede lining & they are the most freaking divinely comfortable Birks ever! FYI ~ Not all Birks are leather - they offer vegan, eva, & recycled material options as well. I love the little bit of bling the sparkle brings to them & this was a trip well spent, literally. I came in with a return and stood in line behind two people. There were 8 to 10 associates behind the counter and only one person was helping people check out. I couldn't believe it. When I advanced to the front of the line I walked up to another register and asked the Associate to help me with a return. She ignored me and walked away. Another Associate to whom I mentioned the return, rang it up as a sale. When I explained it was a return again, she corrected it. This whole customer experience was disastrous. These "Associates" are not really doing any work. read more

I came specifically to pick up a pair of Nine West Studded Tights. & before my reflection faded from the door as I walked in, I got 'hellos' from two different associates. I looked for the Tights & then approached another employee who welcomed me & asked if she could be of assistance before I could ask for it...I'm on a roll. She pointed me into the right direction for the Hosiery/Tights that are on display while you wait to check out. The cheery voice invited me to the dedicated register whose happy face greeted & welcomed me as well...could there ever be such a thing of too much positive customer service? NO. I paid for my Tights & due to that service I experienced from the associates I crossed paths with, I decided to extend my visit & look around. The layout is similar to the other DSW locations (Friendship Heights & Silver Spring being the closest to here) with a special area for Kid's on the first floor & the second level spaciously laid out with Clearance, Women's Dress/Fitness & Men's Dress shoes. Large and clean store with a great variety of shoe options for both men and women to choose from. There's a private lot for parking and there's plenty of spots to choose from. DSW always has some type of deal or coupons available for their customers, as well as a rewards program so it's nice to know you can find decent quality shoes at affordable prices. What stood out for me the most is their customer service at this location. I wasn't necessarily welcomed when I walked in, but the employees are all friendly, attentive and really listen to what you're searching for. Came here with a friend for a quick shoe and this was definitely one of the better DSW stores that I've been to and certainly one of the biggest. This store has 2 floors consisting of women's accessories, sneakers and shoes like every other store has and a men's section upstairs. What really surprised me about this store is that they also had a kids section for shoes along with a clearance section of course. I've actually never been to a DSW with a kids/toddler section for shoes. Everything was very easy to find as there are signs of each section all around the store. The shoes were moderately priced and there was a wide range of really nice shoes and sneakers to choose from for any location. The only reason I didn't give this store 5 stars is because customer service was lacking. Although the store was about to close, there was no one asking if I needed help or if I was finding everything ok. This is something I would have liked to have seen as there were some moments I felt like I was looking a little confused. Nonetheless, this was still a great store and if I'm ever in the area, I will be sure to check it out again if I need shoes. read more

I went to this store with my two kids, and I had a horrible customer service experience. I was doing my best to keep the boxes and shoes organized while juggling my children, but there was a pile of boxes on the floor in the meantime. Instead of helping, a rude staff member came over to me, and pointed at the boxes, instructing me to clean them up. I love the customer service at this location! Gerson helped me out with an order and a return. The process was quick and he was very attentive and professional. I love how they're always fully stocked and have options that other locations don't have. The store has the regular check out line and returns separate which makes it so much easier and less chaotic. I recently became a gold member which shows how much I shop at DSW...it's a major problem. Ok so is this DSW in DALY CITY, CALIFORNIA outside of San Francisco, CA? NOOO. It's in B-town, MD. And yes I did visit and buy into the DSW shoe experience. You can find some shoez at this warehouse. It's a decent company that offers many varieties shoes for men and women. The building is so big. It's a fun experience. The shoes may be cheap or not. I definitely do not live in this town anymore. And yes it could be Daly City once again, but it's not. It's good for your high school daughter, a young yuppie, or a fashionable mother. read more

I just wanted to take a minute to share the incredible customer service experience I had at DSW in Bethesda. I went to the store with my 14 year old daughter just to look around and was met with attentive employees who were very happy to help. When we finally went to check out, Elizabeth couldn't have been kinder. I had a coupon mishap and then Debbie stepped in to check it out. Finally, Jose came in to assist even further. I left the store feeling cared for, valued as a customer and felt that they cared about their store from a personal perspective. These three employees were magical. When is the best time to get snow boots? According to Mike B... it's the hour the potentially largest snowstorm of the season is bearing down on you. So it was 4pm on Monday when I ventured out to DSW in anticipation of the snowstorm. I started looking at the selection of boots with little to no knowledge of what makes a snow boot a snow boot, and a regular boot a regular boot. So I went into the clearance section and found this boot that was leather... and fit... and I was like... this will probably prevent my foot from becoming wet. That's the most important function right...? And I take it down to the cashier and as she's ringing me up, I ask... "so... this will be good in the snow.. right?." And the cashier goes " Awwww honey... nah this is no snow boot. You need some help don't you? This isn't gonna keep your foot warm. I mean look at this... you need some insulation" And like a 8 year old child asking for help from mom... I asked if she could have someone help me find the snow boots. She calls quickly on her walkie talkie and has someone meet me at the top of escalator. I really appreciate that she wanted to find the right boot for me. So I go up the escalator... and Josh was waiting for me at the top of the escalator. Ya know what I felt like. I felt like I was a 10 year old and my mother had told me to go pick out something for lunch at the grocery store. And I came back with a bag of oreos and 2 liter of coke. Nevertheless, it was clear I needed some help, and I'm not one to deny help when I clearly need it. Josh was super helpful and wonderful. He showed me the selection of snow boots. He commiserated with me on the smaller selection. He told me that this was really late season for them as far as snow boots is concerned. He pointed to the new sandals for next season already coming out. He checked the availability at another store of the only boot I thought was cool. Unfortunately, they were fresh out. He went to the clearance section with me to see if any snow boots hand landed there. And then he listened to me make fun of all the other snow boots in the selection. I mean... he was the perfect store associate. I felt like I had a personal shopper. He surely has a strong customer service background, or he's just generally a really nice person. We found a boot that was neither offensively ugly ( like most of the snow boots there), but also not flashy. Just a simple boot that would keep out any moisture, with a little padding on the inside for insulation. And though, I thought the price was pretty high for that boot... I got it. Wore it yesterday, and it completely protected my feet from cold/ moisture. Good things, good things. Huge props to Josh and lady who first helped me at the register and called Josh. read more

Giant location that, for me, didn't hold up to the promise of it's size! Also, once you walk in, it doesn't look as big inside as it does from outside. I wandered around the female shoes department, and couldn't find the pumps. I had to ask someone, who told me they were upstairs- even though the sign for upstairs said clothing and men's shoes. I headed upstairs to look for black pumps. I'm a size 10.5, which is difficult to find, but often I'll find enough shoes at DSW that carry both 10s and 11s, and eventually I will find shoes that fit me well enough. No luck- almost no shoes had a size 11- size 10 was even more rare than at other locations. While they had a large number of moderately priced shoes, this was also the first DSW location that I've seen such a large number of expensive shoes ($300+)- although maybe other locations just don't have them displayed so predominately. After I was disappointed by the shoe size selection, I went down into the purse area, and almost all of them were at least $100- I picked up one that was over $250. Other locations I've been to (mostly in the Philadelphia area) don't carry the same type of (aka expensive) stock. Overall, a great place to find shoes if you're a normal shoe size. Service was decent- I wandered around confused for awhile when I couldn't find pumps and nobody asked if they could help, but when I stopped someone and asked them where they were, they were super friendly. But I won't be back because of their lack of larger shoe sizes. read more

The store is large and with ample parking. It also has a very broad selection, though that selection has no discernible pattern to its organization. If you want to find something in particular, ask an employee or else you'll be wandering aimlessly through the aisles. I went to the store and they could not find the shoes ! This place is not organized at all! A few years ago you couldn't get me to wear flip flops -- the concept of wedging something between my toes and having me walk around on it made zero sense. Ditto for heels -- sprained ankles and limping? I'd rather go to the dentist. Boots? But then I'd have to buy special pants! Beeline to the clearance aisles, where every shoe is 30-70% off based on the sticker color on the box, and time stops. Bad day at work? Who cares; those Anne Klein slingbacks look adorable. Car needs a new transmission? You'll look fantastic walking in those Kenneth Cole flats. This place could be dangerous. At Brian N.'s invitation, I met a bunch of Yelpers downtown for an artsy happy hour at Posh. I put on my knee high boots and hit the rainy streets... About half an hour into the evening, I looked down to notice that my animal-free boots had started to shred. Time for DSW. I needed new cute boots of good quality, and on the cheap. There's something for everyone here. They have brands everyone has heard of and brands no one has ever heard of, but it's mostly shoes from the high end department stores. You can find $1500 shoes for a mere $800, or you can find $300 shoes for $100. I found a pair I liked well enough, and when I got to the register I signed up for their free club. A couple of weeks later, I got a $20 coupon in the mail to spend at will.... So back to DSW I went... and I found $150 flats marked down to $50, less the $20 coupon and they were mine for $30. Yay! Maybe it seems silly to write a review of a shoe store - but it's not & I'll tell you why. I just moved to DC recently and rely on the Metro and rent zipcars for suburban bargain hunting. But the cost of the rental makes the bargains less attractive if I drive all the way out to East Bumblefuck and the store that looked so bright and shiny on-line is really a dump (I'm talking to you Marshall's). If you have about an hour or two to commit to bargain hunting, this place has some great deals. Even if you're looking for a pair of boots in the middle of the summer, if you hunt long enough, you can find one. Probably for a good price. I like the layout. Men's shoes on the bottom floor with miscellaneous accessories for men and women, and women's shoes on the top floor. They have them divided into sections so you can find what you're looking for. But, make no mistake, even once you narrowed down your style, you'll still need to do some hunting. There can be an almost overwhelming amount of choices and the shoes aren't always in the right place, so you might have to go searching for the matching shoes that go with the display. The sales people aren't very helpful. They almost avoid you. I've found even when one person tells me they have no more of a certain size, another sales person I ask might be able to find one for me. So keep asking. I once found an amazing pair of shoes on sale. They were slingback leather heels, originally $80 and on sale for $30! They had a scuff mark on the side that could be easily fixed with some shoe polish. When I took them to the register, I asked if they could give me any additional discount because of the mark and they sold it to me for $20! It was an amazing find and the shoes now look good as new. read more

Did not find anything today but like to stop by from time to time and check out what they have. Men's shoes are upstairs as well as clearance items for both men and women. They have lotsa shoes and they are pretty cheap! i got my wife some killer heels from this place. they are sexier than sex. and we also got some guess Ugg look alikes. and some waterproof winter boots. Anyway, the one qualm i have about this place is that their men's section leaves much to be desired.
