The store, which is meant for children so you know strollers will be coming and going, doesn't have a ramp. The store clerk also did nothing to help me get in the store. Granted she was helping the only other customer in the store at the time, but I was really struggling getting my stroller over the high lip at the door. Thankfully a passer by helped me out. It baffled me that a store that you would expect stroller traffic to be high at wouldn't be easily accessible. I know the building was probably built before ramps were required, but it would make it much easier getting in and out.

We took her here, and the wonderful sales clerk looked at her feet, sized them, and figured out that she has wide set feet. She brought a few shoes out that she picked based on the fact that she has wide feet and had never really worn shoes before. She brought out soft sole shoes, which she said is good since she wasn't used to wearing them. The looked at my niece when she was explaining how soft soles would be better, and she was excellent at getting my niece engaged and involved and interested. The shoes fit perfectly and went on super easily. My niece fussed quite a bit, but she said it was because she wasn't used to it. She told us to just keep them on and she'll get used to it. We ended up buying two pairs. Within 24 hours, my niece was running all over the house with her brand new shoes! Months later, she has more shoes, and runs all over the place and loves them. I love how everything is color coded and wish more stores would organize like this. Every employee I encountered was very friendly and helpful. I did notice that they were diligently interactive with me after I picked up a $100 blouse- as they should be on a busy Saturday! But I really appreciated the small talk and direction from Randie, who gave me the brief on where to find everything, and the brief on the sister store Nextdoor. This store is a bit out of my way, but now knowing what they carry I definitely see myself returning here when I am feeling like I want to treat myself. As I am someone who prides in ensuring clothes don't go to landfill and trying to reuse or recycle as much as I can (I shop thrift a lot) I was very pleased to see that they take overflow items from designers. The store itself is a mess with rows and rows of shoe boxes and not much actual merchandise on display so you pretty much need to know what you want before you go as "window shopping". There is not good seating for you to try on shoes - if you can find what you want in the chaos. There was a person there who was helpful but in the end we did not find what we wanted and went down a couple of doors to Shulers Shoes which had a much better selection, a better environment, and more professional service. There we bought a pair of shoes and some accessories. I would not go back to Famous Footwear.

During this visit, the manager called another store to learn if they had the shoes we needed in my son's size. Fortunately, they did, so we bought the wingtips that we'd found at this location and drove over to the Savage location for the sneakers needed for school. Yes, my 14 year-old son wears wingtips. Most of the men's shoes have sizes up to 16, so it's pretty easy to find what you need here. They even carry these larger sizes in medium width. My son doesn't have wide feet, so it can be difficult to get shoes that work well with his gun boats. The women's shoes on offer are great, too. Stylish and not all super-high heels. They recognize that not every woman wishes to reach for the stars when she's wearing nice shoes.
