I purchased Brooks sneakers online for $84.00. I tried them on and found them to be very uncomfortable. I neglected to save the receipt that came with it. You could see from the box that I bought them from DSW. Strange thing was that the purchase didn't appear with my customer number. I wasn't asking for a refund-was requesting for store credit. I was completely turned off by my visit today. I was in an isle trying on sneakers and a sales person came down the isle to put shoes away. No biggie, gotta do your job, I get it. Until she pulled her cart really close to us (no social distancing there) and when I stepped back, she yelled at me saying "watch out!" Thinking I was going to step on her. I thought that was extremely rude. She could have been a little nicer. I immediately put the shoes back that I had, and as i walked out of the store, i told her she could have been a little nicer, to which she scoffed at me! I have never been talked to like that by a sales person before and I think it's a little inappropriate. read more

As a guy, I shouldn't like shoe stores right? Wrong! I usually order shoes/sneakers online but if I am looking for something relatively soon and I want good prices, I usually shop at DSW. Some of the more expensive name brands for less...yes please. They do have current styles but some are from previous years. As long as they look good and feel comfortable, it doesn't bother me in the least to buy older styles. DSW is my go to store for shoes. They carry thousands of brands for men and women, especially designer brands. All of their shoes are discounted and they carry most major brands, and online they carry a larger selection of shoes and high end shoes from $100 and up. They great thing is DSW marks down most of their shoes on top of the already discounted prices. I belong to their Premier Club. This allows me access to future sales ahead of time, and 2-3 day free shipping on all shoes. I even get discounts of $10 to $20 dollars mailed to me and applied to my account based on points for every pair of shoes I purchase. The program from time to time offers 3x the points or free gifts with a purchase during certain times of the year. I like that I can walk in look for the shoes I want and know immediately if they have my size. Online u can always find great feedback and online reviews and sizing about each and every shoe. DSW also sells designer hand bags and socks and accessories . When I couldn't find my size I called DSW direct and they helped me track down the shoes I wanted and had them shipped directly to me for free. I can't say enough good things about this store. I love shoes. Like, LOVE shoes. I think of them as pieces of art on my feet or an accessory to how awesome my body and outfit already look. I like boots...knee boots, thigh boots, ankle boots, booties, I love pumps, peep toes, sling backs, wedges. I'm a self professed shoe'nista. I will hide a pair of new shoes in my trunk for a week then smuggle them in to avoid an eye roll from my dad and a " another pair??!" My opinion...I make money, I pay all my bills ...pay myself (savings) then its play time. DSW is like an overload of possibilities. You walk in to a literal sea of every piece of footwear you can think of. And behind that sea...? walls of discounted foot havens. They also have bags, scarves, hats and anything foot (socks, stockings, shoe inserts, leg warmers etc) Guys don't feel left out...there is a section for you too. Not anywhere near as big as ours but you don't have to frantically search for the boyfriend sitting area while you wait. This location has been renovated very nicely. I just recently went to browse the new season's shipment and had a great experience. I found two pairs of boots that clearly had my name all over them. Best thing...they have 24 hr holding. Unless i'm in desperate need to bring my new babies home with me ASAP I like having a night to marinate on my choices. Do I have enough to match with them? Is it in my budget? Well this time they were and I happily marched back the next day (today) and tenderly carried my new leather twins to the car. Maria S was my cashier and what a nice woman. located inside watchung square mall, near petsmart and ulta. recently remodeled interior, and i approve of the changes. definitely has the "warehouse" feel to it, but not necessarily in a bad way. there's a fairly large selection of handbags and i have also seen convenient items like heel pads near the check-out line. read more

Great selection of shoes at discount prices. Located in the Watchung Square Mall, its a newer store that is clean and spacious. Its primarily woman's shoes (no surprise there!), but even for men there is a fairly large selection. Unless you've worn the exact model of shoe before, its important to try a shoe on before buying it to make sure it fits properly. Having a large selection like DSW does, at good prices, makes it that much easier. They have a discount club you can join, which gives free shipping and sends coupons good for discounts. read more

Long lines with one person checking out while another makes boxes and just walks around. Told her I had a coupon and showed her but she never applied it and I didn't realize it until I got home. Then had to drive all the way back up show her she acted like she didn't know what was going on I think you need to get new help in that store. read more

I HAVE to give this store a 1 star rating. The service is TERRIBLE! More and more people are ordering online, because the check out line at this store is RIDICULOUS! I have been to this store many times, and it ALWAYS has a huge line at the registers. Half the people there are doing returns, and half are purchasing. The manager stands there LOOKING at the ridiculous line, and does NOTHING about calling an additional associate or 3, to come to the front to ring people up and get them out of there! WORST shopping experience. I will continue to order online. More than HALF of what I order, I keep.......... saving me the time wasted standing on line at this store that is clearly understaffed, or staffed with incompetent people! The biggest challenge is the over whelming amount of shoes , boots & accessories offered in this wonderland of Happiness . This next comment is to the Staff . I have worked in retail for 45yrs . I have been privileged to work as a sales clerk at many retail stores , ranging from Bargain basements to 5th Ave NYC . the largest challenge is the overwhelming amount of inventory , with the proper guidance no customer should leave this Super store without making at least one purchase . The biggest nightmare is Me , a super shopper that asked for assistance one out of 10 visits , and is disregarded by 3 sales people and and assistant manager . When i asked for help finding a specific shoe the first clerk sent me to clearance Alone . My second attempt to find this item by asking a second clerk was disregarded completely . My third encounter was to walk up to Two sales people , one of which I later found out was a Manager . They we speaking to each other and I had to raise my voice to be acknowledged . After expressing my concerns I was given a quick apology , this upset me more . I walked away still holding around 4 pairs of shoes to continue my shopping . The assistant Manager approached my , The first words out of his mouth were an explanation of the verbal interaction between himself and the sales clerk . Let me school you , anything short of a medical emergency implied to me my customer service was secondary . When I expressed this to the young man I received another apology .... an insult at best ... He then proceeded to appease me and gave me a discount .... " threw me a cracker " ... FYI If I am spending 20$ or 1000$ I am more likely to return if I am treated with respect and as A VIP . Hope this is conveyed as a helpful lesson in retail . Doreen M Peppe read more
