My truck was just past 150k miles and needed new front brakes and rotors so I took it to Pat at Dual Auto and they did a full service tune up. Changed all of the fluids, spark plugs, air filter, etc. they did it in a timely manner and now the truck is running like brand new and getting 1.5 more mpg. 100% recommend these guys. read more

I went to take my truck to get smog because the tax office said that it needed to have a smog and was greeted by a very friendly man at the front desk who told me that they were wrong and that my truck did not need to be smoked. He could've very well just charged me to smog it and then sent me on my Way, however, he was very honest and I appreciate that! You don't find service like that anymore nowadays! Very unprofessional garage. Had them install a clutch in my Jeep. Provided parts. Same parts they wanted to order without the added cost. Jeep was done in 4 hours. Which was fantastic, until I drove it home. It's rattles like it's lose, and hasn't been right since. Took the Jeep back to have a fuel pump installed, and clutch looked at. Billy, called me and tried to change me more than what I was originally quoted. Then told me that clutch issue, is because my engine is idling so low. Total and absolutely BS. Sounds like the tech messed up and the shop doesn't want to eat a clutch. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS GARAGE TO ANYONE. Days of finding an honest mechanic are over. Stick to working on it yourself. read more

I went here to get an oil change and they, somehow, cut a hose on my bmw then claimed I had a 'major' oil leak when not one drop of oil has leaked in my driveway. They gave my vehicle back to me with dirty fingerprints all over the hood, oil all over the engine, because someone did not put the seal on correctly, and the belt which controlled the steering falling off, because of all the oil on the engine. I had to call a friend to fix what they had broken. My friend looked under the hood, saw what was leaking, by revving the engine, and found the cut hose. I would not recommend this place to anyone! I'm new in Georgia and a lady who's been ripped off by automotive repair I have a cx60 Volvo 2011 anyway started taking to Goodyear it seemed I was going to work out with them but, I had ask them to check my vehicle fully bc engine light would come on and off but they said no it needed this or that which within 3 mos I paid them over $1200, finally they then said I needed the exhaust cost $5,000, I feel they did the nickel and dime me and knew all the time this was the problem to get $300, 541 so out of me before lowering the boom. Now about DUAL I was really worried how I was going to fix the problem financially and was on my way to doctors SR42 and I had been praying about it then for whatever, reason I decided to instead of my usual way to Stockbrige to go a new way so I made a left on Jodeco Rd as I'm driving, darn there's a train so I'm sitting there in line and look over to my left and seen this place Dual and how they're experts in the very problem I wrote down the number but, stopped on my way back but, still fearing having trust issues now the lady at reception was very nice said they could do it I took my car back 3 days later and the work was done for $1800, my car runs good I didn't want to do any complimenting until some time past and since, took my car back for oil change for a fair and moderate price I sure hope I'm not dreaming but, these guys seem to me to be some of the best I've ever dealt with I plan to always take my car back when needed to them. I was a frequent visitor here. They did good work, until one day I went in because my engine light was on. As I normally do when my engine light comes on, I went to AutoZone and O'Reilly to get a free reading on what was causing my engine light to come on. According to the test, I just need to change the oil pressure switch. Well, I took it to this auto shop, and they did their own testing and told me I needed a new transmission, which was over $1,300. Needless to say, I didn't believe what they said, so I took it to another shop around the corner, and they confirmed I only needed an oil pressure switch, which was a lot less than $1,300, AND my car is still running today with the SAME transmission. read more

I've been to Shorty's at least 3 times, and it's an excellent choice if you need automotive maintenance in the McDonough area. The staff is knowledgeable and courteous, and Shorty, the proprietor, takes the time to explain whatever problem(s) your vehicle may have and the repair options thereof. The establishment is clean, and the wait time is reasonable for an auto repair shop. There is a T.V. in the lounge, typically set to ESPN, and also a vending machine if you get hungry while waiting. I'm not a car savvy guy, but even I was able to replace and install a car battery after some of Shorty's advice. Remarkable! read more

Stay away from this crooked shop!!! Apparently I made the manager mad when I told them I couldn't wait any longer for my car as they were taking a very long time with it. So guess what they did?? They drained ALL my freon out of my car and told me I needed a new compressor!!! I took it somewhere else after sweating for weeks because I didn't have the money right way.... the mechanic said NOTHING was wrong with it!! It just needed freon! I believe my next move is to report them to the BBB. read more

The mechanics at Shorty's do good work. But be cautious with them. I had a car that stalled out after replacing the battery. I was told by the staff at Shorty's that the alternator was bad and needed replacing. After the work was done, the car still stalled out. I took it back and was THEN told that the computer resets when the battery is disconnected and it needed to relearn what normal idle was so a drive cycle was necessary. It would sputter when more power was required of the motor/battery (AC, windows), but it worked and after that it ran fine. So, it cold have been that the alternator WAS bad but it could have also been the computer resetting. Lesson learned. Two years later, the starter died. I replaced it, myself. Car cranked fine but died after about 30 minutes. I figured it was related to the alternator so I took it back to Shorty's since they replaced it two years earlier. I came to find out that the starter was connected wrong....apparently, even though it was wired wrong (my mistake), the starter would still work but the battery was draining out. Shorty's then asked about the sputtering (remember the computer above?) and something was wrong with the AC. I became suspicious and told the guy that the owner said it was normal after disconnecting the battery. Then I get the owner on the phone who scolds me for fixing it myself, played dumb over the alternator/computer reset and swore i had AC problems before, which I never had. I could tell he wasn't happy when I wasn't going to budge and he took a last dig by advising that I need to be careful and suggesting I did more damage to the electrical system....(which I come to find out later that the make and model of car I had was KNOWN for having a lot of electrical problems.) Shorty's knows their stuff...which means they also know the weakness of various autos. read more
