This pharmacy is ALWAYS a problem. Even after warning my doctor to speak with someone about calling in prescriptions, they somehow lose them, get them wrong, and are rude while doing it. I have set timers for 15 minutes after each call in/fax in and when I come up to check on the order they yell over each others shoulders "that just came in 3minutes ago!!" I tell them I set a timer, I'll set another for 20, but it wasn't 3min. They mumble something and asked for my insurance all over. Had to update my phone and address each time, had issues with insurance going through but they said nothing about it!!! AWFUL!!!Finding a new Pharmacy now. This review is for their pharmacy department only. I had a couple terrible experiences here where I had come in to pick up insulin syringes at the specified date/time after I had dropped off the Rx from the doc and... they didn't have the syringes. This hasn't happened on just one occasion, it has happened a couple times. (I now go to Park Place pharmacy across the street, by Starbucks) Never once did I receive a call to say "We are sorry, we told you your syringes would be here tomorrow but they are now back ordered", so that I could make other arrangements. Not once was I told "We are so sorry, we are out, but we reserved a box of syringes for you at Duane Reade the next neighborhood over". Oh no, nothing like that. I would show up when I was supposed to, be strung along for days, and panicked because I needed those needles. Don't trust them with anything remotely important to your health. read more

This location was recently updated and is kept stocked and clean. The pharmacy is pretty quick and staff is overall pretty nice. Like all other Duane Reade's everything is overpriced unless what you are looking for happens to be on sale. I generally come in here late night or to pick up something quickly as its the closest store to my apt. read more

If I could leave a negative rating, I would. The pharmacy never answers the phone and if you have any kind of serious condition I would not rely on them to have your prescription when you need it. They constantly run out and don't not care to manage there inventory properly. In addition the staff gives the impression that they just don't care. read more

I have some questions for you: Why is everything so unnecessarily expensive? Why does every nail polish I've bought from your store end up being thick gloopy garbage? Why are there only like 2 cashiers at any given time when a line is 10 people long? But most importantly: how do you continually not have one of the most popular brand name birth control brands in stock? There have been multiple occasions now where I've called to get my script filled, they put me on hold, then get back on the phone to tell me it's not in stock and they don't know when it will be available. I eventually just moved over my prescriptions to another Duane Reade location, and I have never run into this problem at a pharmacy anywhere else in NYC, because it's Not. That. Complicated. This is an ATROCIOUS establishment. Stay away! I waited in line for an hour to pick up my prescription only to find out it was never filled because it was not covered by my insurance. I did not receive a phone call or any other form of communication to let me know about this so I waited in line for nothing. The store often does not have the basic items I am looking to buy and the staff is extremely inefficient, rude, and unhelpful. Bring your business elsewhere! Everything in Duane Reade is expensive and sometimes not worth it (except when it's a total emergency)! There are sales here and there but you have to look for them (look in the weekly advertisements)! I came here to purchase some on the go snacks (which tasted fresh) and some mini travel essentials, which were reasonably priced! read more

I was told my prescription was just called in ( it was called in two nights previous) then I was told they only just got the insurance info (another lie) and then finally, when I went to pay they had some fake phone number as my contact info. I have never been to such a sh*t show of a store before. I scheduled an appointment to get my Covid booster shot and figured I could walk in, get it done and be out of there quickly. God forbid that should happen. I got there 5 minutes early and discovered a huge line going to the prescription counter where to Covid check in was. I asked if the line was for prescriptions or both prescriptions and Covid check ins. Of course it was for both. So I waited and waited and waited. Why bother making an appointment if I am just going to be treated as a walk in. A half hour in I was tempted to leave and go to the City MD next door but I had already invested the time. Another 25 minutes go by and people who came in after me get seen before me for no rhyme or reason. All the time there is no communication from the store about what was going on. I finally got in an hour after my scheduled time and was out the door a minute later. They didn't even have me wait the recommended 15 minutes to see if I had any reactions to the vaccine. This store was extremely unprofessional and lacking any sort of customer service. read more

This Duane Reade is very updated which is nice. I like the new interior design and they always have what I need. The customer service here seemed nice also. I passed to other drug stores in Park Slope and I settled on this one to get what I actually wanted. Too bad this Duane Reade isn't in my neighborhood. I will never go to this store ever again! I went to the store just to took a quick look while waiting for my friend. Then there was a staff came ask " can i help you? " I said i'm just browsing and do not need anything specific as i was waiting for my friend. Then the guy said i cannot stay in the store because i'm not the customer!!! Pros: it's open 24hours and was recently updated. It has all the things you'd expect to find in a Duane Reade and the sales are pretty impressive (ex 6 of those big Gatorades for $6) Cons: This place has no organization, just things randomly jumbled on shelves. The line gets ridiculous in there at times, I mean it extends beyond the curved barrier (where the put all those conveniently placed random things you don't need but buy anyway) and goes down the aisle at times. Last time I was in there I couldn't find a blue pen Smh. N finally, they don't have the "black people make up" I guess that's a very population specific problem tho lol read more

Like others say they mess up insurance info and wont fill anything past a month even when my doctor says thats what he submitted. Worse is that the counts of what they give you are off! Pharmacy computer system has been down for 2 days now. They shrug and say "we don't know anything" when asked. This isn't the first time. I've had enough. Moving my family's prescription needs over to Capsule... and giving 2 stars overall because two of the front cashiers are extremely kind and friendly to my 2 year old. This Duane Reade despite a few competent customer service representatives is staffed with rude inept and just idiotic pharmacy who want to create a bad relationship with customers. Store is fine, BUT THIS PHARMACY IS OUTRAGEOUSLY TERRIBLE! I had my prescription switched over from the NYU Student Pharmacy, and this pharmacy could not get it together two months in a row without me dicking around with them and wasting an hour+ of my time each month. The first time, they apparently took the wrong insurance information from NYU when they called, although the woman at NYU told me I only had one set of insurance info so it must have been DR's mistake. Note: DR also refused to call NYU back on my behalf. Super helpful! Fast forward to one month ahead. I tried to refill my prescription two days ago online, and it rejected because they "don't have doctor's authorization," even though my doctor gave me a three-month prescription AND the pharmacist told me last time they were all set for the next two months. It is 4 days before I have to take the BAR EXAM, and I am dicking around with Duane Reade again. I have called their pharmacy five times this morning and no one is picking up. This is, by far, the worst pharmacy experience I have ever had. I am switching after the bar exam. Peace! read more

I think the only reason someone would review a Duane Reade on Yelp is if they were randomly inconvenienced and needed to vent, which is, you know, fair enough. But I might as well give one push in the opposite direction. I was looking for my preferred cheap beer, Miller High Life, and asked the guy stocking if they carried it. He said no but that if it was a "hot item" (which I assured him it was) they would stock it. So every time I've gone back since, they've had 12-packs of High Life for the same price as PBR, and my life is a little bit better. Thanks, Duane Reade. read more

The only thing going for this store is that it's fairly spacious. Other than that, it's pretty abysmal and its prices are obscene. Some of the items on the shelf, cost double what you would pay on Amazon. Their prices are even a lot more expensive than the Walgreens website. Apparently, Walgreens is such a mess, that's when I checked the availability of an item online, it stated that at this location it was out of stock, but the shelf was fully stocked with it. There is a sense that no one is tending to the shop. What a shame. read more

I was just in here to buy a thermometer (overpriced, incidentally) and as I approached the counter, one of the employees demanded that I open my bag. I said why, told them I didn't steal anything, put down the thermometer and prepared to leave in a huff. Then the manager says "It's okay. You did put something in your bag though." Which I did-my phone. Which belongs to me. I was so flustered all I could do was yell at them that I live in this neighborhood and that they are jerks. I've had disasters with photo developing and the pharmacy here. I dropped off a refill script one night and asked if they had the medicine, which I needed the next day. They said yes, but since they were really busy, said it was fine if I waited until the next morning to get it. I go back the next morning and they tell me they are out of it and will not give me the script back (it's already in their system?) so I can only go to another Duane Reade (a 45 minute weekend train ride away) to get it. Awful. I foolishly took several rolls of film here b/c I didn't have time to really go anywhere else. After all kinds of nasty employee interactions over a week period, I was told that my photos had been developed but were lost somewhere in the treck back to the store (I had no idea they didn't do it on grounds in a 1-hour machine). They handled the situation horribly and long after the fact I am still upset about the loss of some very treasured images and actually went digital with my camera after this. read more

They consistently provide wrong information about when orders will be ready, do not seem to have any knowledge regarding the meds they sell, and worse of all provide misleading information. Since their remodel a couple of years ago, I can never find what I need. The majority of shelf space is taken up by junk food, beer, and diet products. I was told by an employee that many many health related products were eliminated from stock to make room for more junk. I can no longer find many of the products I used to get there. My fiance has tried to get a prescription out to them for days. Each time they claim the doctor's office has not contacted them (which doesn't seem to be a problem with any other pharmacy) even after the doctor's office has claimed to call and fax repeatedly. When she was just in there only to find out again that her prescription was not ready, another customer had asked to have her doctor's prescription slip returned after they had failed to fill it repeatedly. After calling and asking to have the slip returned, she was now told that they couldn't find it, she was not in their system, and who did she speak to. I will not deal with people that are so either incompetent or uncaring when it comes to people's health and well being. read more

This Duane Reade location refused to let me drop off a prescription for someone else, saying they needed to appear there in person and show ID. I guess the pharmacy techs are confused, since that's true if someone is picking up certain painkillers, but anyone is supposed to be allowed to drop off the prescription. It seems odd for a pharmacy to make up rules to make things things extra difficult for people who are disabled or ill. read more

The entrance is awkward, the layout doesn't make any sense, the grey floor and bright lights make you feel like you're in an institution, and at times the shelves are empty.
