This place is both Excellent & Horrible. 1. THE EXCELLENT PHARMACIST: The morning pharmacist deserves a "10+" rating -- she helped me fill scripts that were from my Austin, TX home & she battled a reluctant insurance company. PLEASE, PLEASE THANK THAT PHARMACIST!!!! 2. BAD FRONT REGISTER CHECK-OUT LADY: OUCH!!! I encountered a terrible, awful check-out lady .... I am handicapped, it is painful to move, BUT I was going to buy over $100 in items ... but her attitude was so rude. She never said "please" ... Instead, it was just: "put the card in now," "pull it out," "give me that bag if you aren't going to buy it." OUCH!! So I decided NOT to BUY my goods from her -- I just bought my prescriptions, I left & I bought my items from the grocer at a lower price. I don't want to get her in trouble -- maybe she just needs training. BUT she ruined all the good feelings I had about that great pharmacist... I looked to see the gal's name, but she had 80% of her name tag covered up AND I didn't see her name on the receipt. 3. DENIED EMERGENCY RESTROOM: I'm handicapped & was having a sudden "urgent liquid issue," but I was told "company policy: customers can not use our restroom. I was in pain. 4. HARD TO CARRY GOODS TO FRONT: I tried to carry my $100+ worth of items to the front register using my walker, but they kept falling -- no one helped. AND my legs were aching. WHEN I FINALLY did get all items to the front, I encounter that grumpy sales lady. Also, no one helped me get my heavy items outside to the taxi. IN SUMMARY: Please try better training--thanks!!

Awful. They are rude and not helpful. They are providing medications to people and could not be more useless. Never again at Duane Reade!

At some point, when you pay $22 for a bottle of over the counter cough syrup and a 12 pack of Coke, you start rethinking your life choices.

It is accessible via MTA NYC Transit of A train at 42nd Street Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station, located on Eighth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan. Store and photo department operates 24/7. The pharmacy close at 6:00 pm. It is gargantuan size and very organized layout, but contains minimal inventory stock. Their hair products are also minimal as I was browsing for women's rhinestone hair clips. I was seeking women's multi vitamin "one a day" but lack in brand selection. The female sales associate was rather callous "if you order online there are more options" excuse me, I am physically here now attempting to obtain vitamins! With that dismissive wayward behavior this female associate abruptly walked away from me exactly like COVID-19 pandemic. Why do I need to order online when I am physically here standing in front of you? I am a patron and a loyal long-time customer of CVS corporation with a loyalty rewards card. My intent for this visit is to obtain multi vitamins and to use my 25% coupon received in the mail. I have always receive their promotional marketing materials via U.S. mail for coupons.

Walking many miles per day was a new routine and caught up with her, so very thankful to locate this convenient location and find every item she wanted on her long list. Unfortunately their expiration date is just several months from now, and meanwhile each bottle has 250 pills (admittedly the suggested dosage is 3 pills at-a-time, but still....). There's no way we'd consume anywhere near 500 of those pills by their expiration date, so I wanted to exchange them for bottles that have a more reasonable expiration. Today I had to be just one block from this store for a medical appointment, and fortunately there were (only) two bottles available - and their expiration date was *much* more generous. I went to the cashier's counter, and the cashier explained that she needed to have a supervisor handle the exchange (and I'd brought my receipt with me). The shift supervisor was inexplicably *nasty*, and from the very beginning. Meanwhile; she told me she couldn't do an "even exchange" because the flavor was different than the ones I'd purchased (?!) - so she said I'd have to return the ones I'd bought and then purchase the other ones. I told her that I'd used a discount coupon when making the purchase, whereas a "new" purchase would *not* provide the discount. She continued being nasty and suddenly disappeared, and then she *finally* reappeared many minutes later. At that point she told me she'd confirmed with the store manager what she'd told me - but she should have had the courtesy to at least tell me why she was suddenly leaving, and her nastiness was totally inexcusable. Now I'm going to contact the CVS Customer Service Department, but I shouldn't have to waste so much time re: this situation - and most importantly, CVS shouldn't have an employee who's so nasty. (The only reason why I'm giving two stars instead of one is because a very pleasant employee helped me find the location of the pills).
