I love Walgreens and so I usually always go to Duane reade but I had so many terrible experiences here with the pharmacy that I had to stop sending my medications here for pickup. Now, I come here once a year for vaccines but what's the point of an appointment? I scheduled an appointment but had to wait almost an hour. It's like this all the time. 1 star for the pharmacy, but I'd say 3 stars for the retail team so I give them 2 stars overall. The retail team is hit or miss. read more

Update: 3/24/25 Now that RiteAid is closed, most of the customers getting meds from there are now at Duane Reade. They are always understaffed and the people working the drop off/pick up area are also answering the phones. You would think logic would prevail and they would have more staff that can handle the community. Most times the line is down the aisle waiting while staff ignore the line. If there's anything you can do to avoid using this pharmacy, it is in your best interest to do so. They don't even have a pharmacy manager at this point and they create multiple accounts for people and can't fix it. Staff is incredibly obnoxious and at this point there is no accountability because of no pharmacy manager and they are openly hostile to customers. They will delay your prescriptions on a regular basis for seven days or more because of their incompetence. There are plenty of other local pharmacies around that are interested in helping people. I strongly advise considering one of these as an alternative. read more

Try to use a store coupon received from previous visit to store. The store clerk today literally was questioning legitimacy of the store coupon they print out, with a very rude tone. Well they lost a customer, I won't be returning to this store. Give customer coupon as incentive to return, and yet horribly train employee tone to get customer to never return. read more

I came here to get my vaccine shots. The process was easy, scheduled online, showed up, few minutes wait, I was directed to private room. The practitioner was nice, answered questions I had, & the actual shot was relatively pain free. I was asked to wait 15 minutes before leaving. 2nd shot was similar experience. My in-store experiences here were decent. Ordered via Walgreen's online a handful of times, for store pickup, no major issues. I'd say my overall score here would be a 4. read more

They're not very prepared. There are long lines at the pharmacy. Probably an hour wait or longer, with or without an appointment. NYC decided to allow COVID booster shots for nearly everyone a few days ago, which explains the large number of people here. That's not an excuse though: they've had COVID vaccines and an appointment system for nearly a year. They should know how to use them. I would go somewhere else for a booster shot. read more

On 10/11/21 I had gotten to the pharmacy at 8:50 to get some decongestant for my sick partner. Ran to the place, knew exactly what to pick up, got the card and went up to the counter to be told "what do you want?" "You have to come back tomorrow because I already counted the money and closed the register." I wasn't paying with cash, but a card, but this was apparently not good enough. Mind you their site and door stated the pharmacy closes at 9 PM. When I stated that I was simply ignored. Don't close your registers before the end of your business hours, as listed, and work on your people skills/Customer Service. read more

I live in nearby neighborhood. After renovation, this store is very light clean and neat. Now I can find item much more easier than before. The staffs are always friendly here. Just before was very confusing to find items. I will be back next week again. read more

I love Duane Reade due to the fact that all the time I come here the store is very clean , store associates are very professional and attentive. And even during this pandemic, the store is the same , pharmacist at their best composure, very polite with in store clients and I also heard them speak to clients over the phone. Amazing ! I came here looking for my package drop off and it wasn't even the right place but the people were more than helpful looking for the right place for me to go on maps. I never think about how unhelpful a lot of people are until someone goes out of their way to help you. The only reason I'm giving this store such a bad review is due to the experience I had yesterday. Generally, I deal with the Rite Aid right across the street. I wanted to get a flu shot but was turned away by Rite Aid because I didn't have an appointment (I just walked in to get one the past two years). I decided for the hell of it, let me go to Duane Reade since I was right there. Turns out you don't need an appointment to get a flu shot there. I thought, great, I'll get it right here and now, but that wasn't the case for a very ODD reason - they don't accept my insurance...in the middle of a horrible pandemic, they.don't.accept.my.insurance. Really???! Everyone else does in the past couple of years, including doctors I would have sworn wouldn't. For a chain pharmacy to not accept my insurance while even a tiny mom and pop one three blocks from my house does is absolutely unacceptable...especially as the pandemic is still going. read more

It's a Duane Reade---what more is there to say? Well, for some reason the store always smells like plastic. Could be from the abundance of flip flops and the like when you come in. Of course they have everything---the milk is all the way at the end of the first aisle---convenient? I think not. This DR used to be 24/7, but alas, the times are a changin'. Midnight is when it closes. Handicapped accessible, there's a Chase ATM in here as there are at all DRs...which means you can't get cash back at the register. read more

The Pharmacy staff is friendly, but have a bad habit of not listening or sometimes play attention to what their doing. In addition to that the Walgreens med system is a terrible burden on both the customer and pharmacy staff who constantly have to adjust something that the computer has done. Misinformation and lack of communication are rampant. The store is otherwise clean and the rest of the staff are friendly and very helpful. read more

Well, Duane Reade, this time you dropped the ball. I was all over the neighborhood looking for a place to put helium in my daughter's birthday balloons. I was so relieved to see that helium tank when I walked in your door. But you wouldn't fill balloons that weren't bought at your store. Fair enough. I offered to buy your balloons if you would only fill mine. No. I explained that my daughter's birthday is tomorrow and we had planned to be in Disney. I asked if you could please make an exception. No. My daughter can't have Disney. Can't have a party with her class. Can't be with her grandma or cousins or friends. And now she can't have balloons? Not cool. read more

Friendly atmosphere! Very neat and clean store! Much better than the Rite Aid across the street.

This review only applies to the pharmacy. First they mixed up my prescription with another person and blame it to me doctor. Then it took a week for them to tell me that the size of my cream is not available and I need to get either a bigger or a smaller size. And the worst part, they said the coupon I got from my doctor didn't work and I gotta call the number on the coupon myself. I didn't want to deal with the people at this place anymore so I went to another Duane Reade in the city close to my office. My prescription came in a day and they had no problem with my coupon. I'm glad that I wasn't in desperate need of the drugs otherwise I would have been dead before I even got them. read more

The staff is on another planet, I swear. The managers have their heads up their butts. This morning, I stopped in to grab something before work, during rush hour, and they had ONE person ringing up. When that very slow-as-a-snail worker was taking a customer, the customer started hassling the cashier about a coupon. Instead of calling for help, she leaves the counter. Then a manager comes up and does that part instead, but doesn't take the guy in front of me in the meantime. She kept talking to the customer about how they just got new machines or something, wasting even more time... The manager then walked away, so I flagged her down to ring up and clear the line and she said no. When I was a manager, you bet your ass that a customer would never have even had to even ask. Such a terrible attitude. I'm giving all my business to Rite Aid or the CVS up on 66th. read more

Pharmacy section is absolutely the WORST!!!!! Constantly out of stock on medications. They never know when they're getting shipment, assumed me they have a prescribed med in stock and then realize that they don't, which kills time and is frustrating. 'I don't know' and 'I'm not sure' are constant mantras of the staff. I'm giving a one star because I can't give zero. read more
