As I'm reading a lot of positive reviews, I feel like I was cheated when I went into the vet clinic…read moretoday for the very first time. Thank goodness I am not a local and do not have to depend on this vet on a regular basis. Upon first walking in, the atmosphere was nice. I was greeted and asked how I could be helped. I explained what I was there for, and that's when the issues began. I was there to drop a dog off to be boarded, which was set up days before. There were several communications between me (the foster), the dogs owner, and the vet clinic about the dog being boarded and the situation, yet when I walked in, no one seemed to understand what I was talking about. I learned that proper records were not being kept and notes in files were not being made, which is the excuse they gave. Is that the kind of care you want to entrust your beloved pet with? Not very professional. After I got the receptionists up to speed and they called someone to come take the dog, I explained she had a crate, food, food bowls, and toys that she needed. Minutes later the dog was taken away and I was dismissed. I asked "What about her stuff?" "What stuff?" Is what the receptionist snapped at me. I was amazed at her attitude. I explained the stuff, AGAIN, that I had mentioned just minutes before. She obviously hadn't been listening, not very professional at all. She then told us we could just bring it in, so my husband went out to the car and brought in the very heavy crate. At this point, another receptionist had shown up and was sitting behind the counter. I was holding the door open for him as he carried the crate in and he said "Sorry, it's a little heavy. Where would you like it?" After he said this, the other girl receptionist, which I was looking straight at, looked at him and rolled her eyes. That was very disrespectful and uncalled for, especially since we hadn't even dealt with her and all he was doing was bringing in the dog crate. I walked out of this vet clinic absolutely disgusted with the two girls at the front desk. They were rude, unprofessional, and clearly do not know what they are doing. They do not upkeep records nor make proper notes in files. I wonder what type of records they keep on veterinary care, let alone a simple boarding. I have no comment on the actual Vets who work there, nor any other employees. Just the two girls who were at the front desk at the time I walked in which was around 11:10am on 04/28/2018. I hope management can see this review and proper actions can be taken.

I am new to Grayson County, Elk Creek, VA. I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and was looking for a caring…read morefacility to transfer my pets care to, as well as, needing a vet to check my pet out today. I was pleased reading about the 4 veterinarians on staff here and called about 1:00 pm to inquire about my 5 year old cat that may have a stone or just a UTI because of his behavior yesterday and getting worse today. I asked the receptionist if one of the 4 doctors could see him today to determine what problem he is having and treat him. This facility seemed like the facility I have just moved from that provided care to all of my pets for 28 years, however, I was placed on hold while the receptionist checked with the doctors (4) to see if I could bring him in. That was a very short hold and she returned to the call and told me all the doctors were in surgery today, in fact, they do all their scheduled surgeries every Monday and Friday. She said that she would have to refer me to a clinic in Christianburg, VA. As I was shocked to hear that no one could see my pet because they were all in surgery all day, I went to ask the receptionist why all 4 doctors were in surgery today and did not have a veterinarian to look at any other pet and rudely SHE HUNG UP on me. Having worked in fields myself where you first deal directly with the customer, client, patient, etc, that sets the tone for the business and how it works past that initial telephone call or first person at the desk you sign in at. It is that first person's attitude and behavior that will turn potentially long term clients away. This receptionist was rude and she certainly had zero concern for my pet and his well being or me as a potential new client. I will never recommend this facility to anyone just visiting or relocating to the area. When a call comes in to a practice or the door to a practice opens the first person you speak to, usually the receptionist, will make or break the business. This receptionist certainly would not work for me and if the doctors at this location only do scheduled surgeries on Mondays and Fridays, why are they open to have a receptionist take calls if there is nothing they can do outside of their scheduled surgeries on Mondays and Fridays? This facility should take a look at how their receptionist handles calls and their hours of operation since they are unavailable on Mondays and Fridays to see anyone outside of their scheduled surgeries.
