Police told me not to ask for help again getting my things. I had 10 minutes total to get a box of items. My personal identification documents were not included. I was told by the legal system police showing up to help me get my socks and underwear traumatized the kids. I went back alone to the house 4 days later to get my social security card. Didn't ask cops for help for civil standby since they said don't ask us again. I ended up with a restraining order for getting my social security card. Should have asked the police for help that day but they said don't call us again. To this day I have not been able to get my personal belongings from my old home. The legal system allows for stay at home moms who are running away from abuse to be punished more by not allowing them rights to their personal belongings. Police and court does not recognize this kind of abuse in the legal system. It's a financial type of abuse lots of stay at home moms like myself experience but no one cares. They don't care that moms in Pleasanton might be abused and inevitably rich people win over the less advantaged party in civil cases. Police ignore that problem. Meanwhile when I asked police to investigate prostitution, which they say is illegal, it falls on deaf ears. They knows it common practice here and ignore it because it's the oldest business and it benefits lots of rich people. Yet it's a crime to participate in on paper. I get a restraining order for going to my old house to get my things. Fine. Meanwhile some people can participate in prostitution and the legal system ignores it and just says to me you have anger issues and you need to behave. Being a woman in this city in this state in this legal system is a lot like what my family's country probably is like. That's Pakistan. Shariah law run Pakistan. Women who are abused and who try to leave are punished within the legal system.

My car was repoed and needed to get a "police release" in order to pick up my car from impound. The officer at the front desk was very polite from the start (Much appreciated) especially via the circumstances of my visit. Much nicer to have a smiling face greet me than someone who is either having a bad day or someone who hates their job. So thanks for that. NOW comes the part that not only blew me away but actually made me cry all the way to my car. The fee to get a vehicle police release is only $15. Very reasonable in my view. I asked the clerk if there was any program that waives the fee if someone is partially unemployed due to covid and she politely said im sorry there isn't. No worries I said, It doesn't hurt to ask. You see this last couple months have been challenging with my business due to Covid related issues cutting my business by 90%. This week I was really strapped for cash especially having to pay to get my car out of impound I had very little money for food for the next week or so, so every dollar counted. The officer asked me to take a seat and wait while she processed my vehicle release form and after a short wait she called my up, handed me my release and my $15 back and told me the crew at the front desk chipped in and paid my fee. ????????? Whaaaaaaaat? I was stunned. That was such a nice thing to do. The $15 got me by on food for the week and I just can't say how much I appreciate it. So unexpected. Im a huge advocate for random acts of kindness and bestow the same on others on a regular basis so to have one come my way was a great feeling. Im tearing up now just thinking about it. I look forward to the day, hopefully sooner than later when I can throw one back their way. Ill be back, and it won't be to pick up a release form. Thanks to the front desk crew so much.

The angry man was of middle eastern descent (surname Ali), and the witness was a Chinese man, and I am 80% Chinese. Ironically, Mr Ali yelled at us right off the bat to "go back to our own country", even though he's a minority as well and I was born in Hayward, California. Anyway, that's beside the point. When the police showed up, 2 officers from San Ramon Police Department, Mr Ali claimed that the other Chinese man and I were related and knew each other and that was why we were both against him, when in reality it was just a random guy that witnessed his reckless driving that caused an accident. We were in 3 separate cars and have different last names and everything. 3 total strangers. Because of this racist assumption, the insurance companies ruled it a no fault collision even though it was obviously at fault. This forced me to pay a few thousand dollars for repairs with no compensation (insurance covered damages for 10k+ but I had to pay the deductible and other fees) due to this implicit bias by both the subject in question, but more importantly, the officers who took our report and contact information and stuff. I hope they get better with this whole "justice" thing. Of course this is purely anecdotal based on a total of one interaction I've had with this department in my life (I've lived in San Ramon since 2004), but I'm sure they can do better, or perhaps, be better.

That effort definitely did not go unnoticed. However, the speeding in this area is still a major issue, and it honestly feels like it's getting worse. Drivers are regularly going 40+mph down residential streets, especially along the straightaway, which is extremely dangerous for families, kids, and pets. While the temporary radar sign was a good start, it didn't create any lasting change. What's really needed is consistent enforcement. If an officer were stationed at one of the corners, even occasionally, there would likely be a significant number of citations--and more importantly, it would send a clear message that speeding in residential neighborhoods won't be tolerated. This isn't a minor complaint--it's a serious safety concern. I'm surprised more people haven't spoken up because it's honestly out of control at times. I hope to see more proactive measures taken before someone gets hurt.

I was standing by the corner of the front bar. This Hispanic or Caucasian obnoxious officer of HPD did say "excuse me" to me and others. So I did my best to move a side. Still, HE PUSHED ME towards the bar table. Mind you it was crowded. Still not necessary to PUSH me (his hands on my back while my chest hits the bar table). I've seen him around for years. Usually obnoxious, arrogant, and sometimes looking like he's profiling me. I just let those things go. But not this episode of pushing me. If I'm not mistaken, I think his name is "Mendez" or "Melendez". I could be wrong. Luckily, I found a picture of him in a HPD social media account. The jail nurse assessed me for a concussion, and I was treated properly by the Alameda Sheriff's. What a bunch of imbeciles. Furthermore, the DA has refused to file criminal charges, despite having tried to charge me with a felony. A vehicle hit me, but they chose to transport 2 people in the other vehicle that t boned me for minor injuries, yet I was transported to jail to get proper medical care by the jail staff nurses. This is ridiculous. Newark PD needs better officer training. Beyond ridiculous that they made me do a bunch of checks after being hit by a car and in their right mind thought I was drunk. The staff also refused to release my collision report to my insurance company, and when I spoke to my lawyer, they said it is not true that they can't release the collision report and diagram to me. So, I have no idea what they are talking about. Also, your officers need to stop flirting and doing PDA in the library parking lot. We see your unprofessional behavior.

Thanks Officer Pizzo! Proceeding that, the visit to the police station or the records office was pretty efficient (granted that you arrive first thing in the morning). The two times I made a trip here last month, there was like one other person (s) ahead of me, but each encounter was quick and no long waits if you call their line. Parking at the MPD is not a problem, depending on the time of day you come in. My biggest gripe is that MPD charges you $15 for a CD your laptop or CD player doesn't recognize. Or maybe it's just my laptop. But that's why it's important to take your own pictures and videos at the scene of an accident, crime, photo-op, etc. Also MPD charges for paper copies of your report when everything is digital nowadays! This is my hometown and I've lived in Milpitas since the first grade (or early 90s) and as an adult, I can say I feel pretty safe in Milpitas, thanks to our community of police officers, admin, fire and EMTs. We are protected because of your commitment to our safety (and have a sense of normalcy in our diverse community). As always, thank you!
