And I can't say enough good things about Myles Flink who actually guided us to our RV site after 10 P.M. on one occasion, long after check-in time. They will bend over backwards to make you happy. The young man, Elijah Kenley (Sariah's son who is at the park when not in school), is a jewel. He is anxious to help and spent a day looking for my keys that I misplaced somewhere in the park (I found them buried in my truck glove compartment). The park is clean and has all the amenities.

Perfect for a walk in some cooler weather on the hotter summer days. Put your feet in the freezing cold river for a refresher. It didn't look very big to me from the map view but it's a good size to drive around before picking a good spot. Parking is cash only put in an envelope outside the park. Watch out for snakes! If you are in the area and are unsure of going, this is your sign saying to go. I almost didn't and now that I know what it's like out there, I would have regretted it sooo bad if I didn't go. It's truly so beautiful and peaceful.

Not too far outside of the St. George area, you'll find an entirely different terrain-no longer the…read morered rocks and dirt, but tall, lush trees, a stream and a respectable sized reservoir. This is Pine Valley-located in Dixie National Forest (yes, there's a fee-$8 per vehicle). There are picnic areas and space for fishing. At the guard station, there's a handwritten sign telling visitors not to be a "fishnicker"....I inquired about this new word and learned that it's a person who comes to fish but parks their vehicle in a picnic spot, making it unavailable for people who want to picnic there. Makes sense-if you're here to fish, park in the fishing area and leave the picnic tables to people who will use them. There are several walking/hiking trails and they are beautiful! We did the Santa Clara River Walkway which was an easy walk through the trees with pretty views. There's plenty of available parking at the trailhead and clean bathrooms before you start your hike.

You can use your national park pass to avoid the fee here. You just have to display it on your…read moredash. Maps took us like 2 miles north, then back track to the tunnel to get in. Not sure if that was the best way or not. The parking lot is not huge, and you can't park in the designated camping area spots. There are plenty of picnic tables, probably more than parking spaces. There are at least 20 tables there. There are a few trails to choose from. Very close the parking and campsites is a short 1/4 hike (or shorter) to the dinosaur prints. There is a hike in the other direction to the mini waterfall and pond. Probably about a mile or a little over a mile (1direction). We also found an old almost petrified bristlecone tree (that was neat). We got lucky with the weather for Dec, it was probably about 60 degrees and very nice. I saw that in the summer it can be over 110 so I am glad that we got the nice weather. The red /orange scenery is spectacular and representative of the area, like it is at zion, bryce, snow canyon, pioneer park, etc. We enjoyed a picnic lunch there, and we had a blue bird, a scrub jay, come join us and beg for food. GPS Coordinates: 37.224794, -113.406300 It is $5 to park your car here in the parking lot, follow directions to the trail. It is a beautiful and easy hike - until the very end. it meanders along a path - then at the end you need to climb some pretty big rocks to see the payoff of the beautiful canyon. We loved this hike. (but were thrown off by the Yelp directions that sent us in an alternate direction.

He suggested my friend and I relax (after our hike) and let us use the porta potty, which was purple and was "clean" as far as porta pottys go! Anyway, because of that...I decided the next time I went back I would order a snack, I'm all about supporting local businesses, especially in small towns! Fast forward this summer...I brought two friends hiking and the three of us stopped to have snow cones! Now, I haven't had a snow cone in years...so, it was somewhat nostalgic and fun with all the creative names they have. They were good but more up my kids alley than mine, as I'm older, I've limited my intake of sugar. Now if there was a variety of "Margarita" snow cones, I'd be ALL IN!! LOL Bottom line: the proprietors here are great people with lots of knowledge about the area and it's a refreshing treat for you and or the kiddos to have something cold and tasty on a hot day! Do not stay here if you value your time, safety and protecting your RV. I encountered unsafe…read moreelectrical issues when attempting to hook up the 50 amp. My surge protector would shut down after detecting unsafe or no proper ground connection. I spoke with the owner, Steve, about the electrical problem and the sad thing is he is aware of the issue and continues to assign guests here. I do not know why you would do this from a business standpoint considering the liability implications. Steve said his past customers with surge protectors were unable to hook up here as well, so he suggested I hook up without a surge protector because an electrician told him it looked good. After informing Steve I would absolutely not hook up without a surge protector he said I could move to another spot. Due to the first spot I was in being extremely unleveled I asked Steve which spot was most level. He pointed out a spot he believed to be more level than others. I pulled into that spot and found it to be off level by several inches in both slope and grade. This was not a relaxing or enjoyable stay. There are several long term unsightly trailers in the sites, one of which I had to track down the owner when I arrived because his truck was parked blocking the site I was assigned. I woke up to sprinklers spraying the side of my RV in the middle of the night. A simple adjustment would fix this issue, but I would not expect that to happen due to the electrical, lack of level sites and poor property maintenance issues with this location. There is also a raggedy trailer park next door, with it's own pile of special issues. The trailer park appears to be directly connected to this RV park. I would not recommend staying here and I would have been more comfortable in a Walmart parking lot.

This RV park stole our money and hasn't returned it or our phone calls / texts…read more We made a reservation on July 5th to stay that night as we were passing through town. I called and got a recording to book online. Part of that recording said "for late check in, go to office for specific instructions". So, I made the reservation and prepaid online. When we arrived at 10pm, all the sites had the facilities locked up. The office had a sign on it saying to text a number, once they verify your payment, they will give you a code to access a key to unlock the hook ups at your site....but no codes will be given after 9pm. WHY DOESN'T THE WEBSITE OR THE PHONE RECORDING SAY YOU CAN'T CHECK IN AFTER 9PM? What good is a spot if I can't hook up? Nobody ever responded to the number left to text and no one ever returned our calls. At the time, we just left and went to the KOA right down the street. It was much nicer anyways. I would suggest anyone go there instead.

Never got so close to nature while camping before…read more For my families annual camping trip, this location was chosen. We arrived early Friday morning and were able to grab campsites near each other that could occupy 30 of us. If you're into hammock'ing like myself, there are many trees up the hill from the campsites. Amanda and Dell did an awesome job helping us with anything we needed, showed us where everything was, and kept the sites including bathrooms really clean. The only thing they didn't mention was there were wolves in the area. (Story time!) On our last morning at 4am my cousin heard footsteps which he thought was our uncle. Turned out to be grey wolves bigger than the German Shepherd my cousin brought. The car alarm took a few trys for them to even budge. With our flashlights we were able to see 6 up in the woods. We then jumped in the car and left until sunrise. As for the fishing at Navajo Lake, we caught about 30 Chubs which we threw back and a few 10in Rainbow with our full day boat rental and 6 people. Worms were being hit more than power bait jfyi.

Parking spot at camp site and parking lots for extra vehicles. Fire pit and picnic table at camp site. I liked when we arrived my campsite said my name and arrival and departure dates. Close proximity to the lake and launch pad for boats. Cons: the weekend we visited it was warm. 80 during day and 40 at night. We got sun burned. Living in Vegas we are usto hot sun but not a sun so close like up on the mountain. This camp site and a few others had no shade. We had to go buy a canape to seek shelter from the sun. And when we did that we wanted to set it up in this one spot that was shady most of the day but there was a large pile of dry dead tree branches which was disheartening because fire level is at extreme. I'm not sure if we truly were allowed but the campsite host allowed small fires and was also selling fire wood. So we cleaned up and moved all the branches away from the area. Nothing like manual labor on vacation! I spotted a few other piles around our side of the compound. Camp site # 14 is along the road just a FYI. You can see the cars and trucks go by with out a guardrail but quite at night. Overall a nice peaceful place thank you!

The bathroom situation isn't the best, it's similar to porter potty, but it does the job. Shaved ice truck is passing through regularly so that was cool. Rented a boat for 2h and the boat ride was very soothing for me, enjoyed the views & my company. Definitely always a great family day here. Canams & jet skis are also available for rental here.

Zion National Park covers nearly 150,000 acres. Most people will go the most popular area in…read moreSpringdale, but there's a separate area known as Kolob Canyons which is located in a different area of the park about an hour's drive away. I spent a leisurely day here, which I thought was enough to enjoy the visitor center, the scenic drive, and hike Timber Creek Overlook as well as Taylor Creek Trail. The visitor center has the NPS ranger desk, a small gift shop with the usual NPS offerings, and information about the rocks. There's also washrooms here and water available. The drive was beautiful with many pull outs to enjoy the view. I drove up to Timber Creek Overlook which is at the end of the drive. It's about a 1.2 mi path, although it was evidentially super muddy in the past with super deep foot prints and people walking everywhere. It was ok. The Taylor Creek Trail was amazing. I've never hiked a trail with as many stream crossings, which made it fun. There's also two homestead cabins on the way, and the trail takes you through a narrow box canyon toward the Double Arch Alcove. The end of the hike was pretty chilly due to the shade and the water present. Brr. I think this is a great counterpart to the more famous area - it's definitely less visited and you get more solitude.

Kolob Canyons as part of Zion National Park is an underrated gem much less visited than The Narrows…read morein Zion. It's located about an hour north of the main park entrance, off the highway on the way to Cedar City. An admission fee is required to enter this area of the park. We arrived around 8:30am and there were only several cars in front of the visitor center. We checked in with our national park passes and started the 5-mile scenic drive up to the top of the mountain. There's are many pullouts along the road to take pictures and see the beautiful views. A circular parking lot is at the summit with vault restrooms and a nice view of the Kolob Canyons. The secret here is to hike the 0.5 mile trail with the trailhead at the parking lot. The hike has a little elevation, but a 76-year old in our party was able to hike all the way. The views at the end of the trail are phenomenal and worth the trip. We spent a lot of time here taking pictures and soaking up the sights. We could see far into the horizon, past the mountains into Arizona on a clear day. For me, visiting Kolob Canyons was my favorite and most memorable part of my Utah trip. The crowds here are nearly nonexistent, though parking at the top of the mountain can get full. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend adding Kolob Canyons to your itinerary!
