I have been coming to this donut shop for quite awhile now and I completely love their donuts!! Each month I get a dozen donuts and I love to share them with my family. Most recently, my boss picked up a box of these donuts a couple days ago to welcome a new hire to our team. She went with a variety pack so there were 6 different donuts to taste. I came by Duck Donuts to use my Experience Booklet which was a free donut with a coffee. I ordered the dulce de leche iced season latte that was advertised on a picture and took the girl's recommendation of a strawberry shortcake donut. They make the donuts hot off the press a top them with your chosen flavor. The strawberry was absolutely delicious and I ate the donut in about 5 seconds. The coffee on the other hand wasn't awesome. The girl making it had her mask pulled down which I don't love and it didn't have the pretty whipped topping from the picture. It tasted just ok I didn't end up finishing it. What an amazing concept! I can't believe there isn't already a place like this in St. Louis. Hot donuts customized to you? Yes please. Wandered in on a Saturday afternoon. I was heading to a crawfish boil and figured I would contribute something. These donuts got eaten up less than five minutes of me getting to my friend's house! I think everyone was pleased. I tried a couple flavors and enjoyed them both. I really love coconut shavings on top of donuts so that one was delicious. I thought that the texture of the donut was nice. Not too moist or dry. I think I would prefer them to be a tad more buttery. Not for sure as I have never created a donut of my own. I would definitely recommend swinging by and trying this place out! I especially like that the person creating your box seems to be focused on getting all the toppings correct and are happy to be there. The staff always seems happy to greet the customers. When they are making the donuts, I like to ask them questions about what they are doing and which is their favorite. I have been ordering their seasonal boxes lately. For me, it's too impossible to mix-and-match donuts or even to create your own. Each month, there is a new themed box with different toppings. Some months they are the same donuts, but with a new name. Here are what I thought of this month's flavors: -Ants Marching: it's a regular glazed donut topped with chocolate sprinkles -Halloween Mist: again, another glazed donut with Halloween sprinkles -Brain Bits: this one was good, glazed and then topped with apples and streusel -Spider Web: this might be my favorite bc its covered in cinnamon sugar and then crisscrossed with vanilla icing -Dirt N Worms: you know this one from your childhood, it's covered in chocolate, then covered in Oreo cookie pieces, and finally topped with gummy worms (the first thing I ate in the entire box was the gummy worms) -Halloween Bat: chocolate icing with Halloween sprinkles -Full Moon: completely covered in powdered sugar (don't eat this one while wearing a black shirt) -Halloween ghost: covered in vanilla icing and topped with Halloween sprinkles -Boo Berry: another fantastic option! It's covered in blueberry icing then dusted with powdered sugar -Halloween Pumpkin: this one is the most unique in the bunch since it's covered in a pumpkin icing then topped with Halloween sprinkles (super delicious pumpkin icing!) -So Mummy: covered in vanilla icing and shredded coconut with a drizzle of hot fudge -Werewolf: WINNER of best donut! So it's not just different colors and designs, but you can get different berry or citrus flavors or bacon bits to make your donut just right. It can also be overwhelming to pick from so many possible combinations. But Duck Donuts helps you there by having a couple of laminated cards with suggestions. One focused on sweet or savory, and the other focused on citrus choices. It was much appreciated. If you're like me, you'll go in for one but wind up ordering a half dozen. The ordering process was relatively easy though you had to get to the register to see the donut menu. The donut assembly line was very messy and donuts were decorated inside the serving box resulting in customers being handed boxes with icing all over the edges and sides. I don't think its quite a cake donut but not traditional enough to be a glazed. If you like both types than Duck Donuts will give you the best of both worlds. The concept they offer is a nice change. You can customize it any which way you want. Pick your glaze, icing. topping, drizzle and make it unique each time. After you order you can watch your creation come to life. I think this was a hit with children. Who doesn't want to see their vanilla glazed donuts dunked in bacon and cereal? You are paying a little extra for an "extra" style donut but for a once in a while treat and experience I think its allowed. My overall experience was good even though it took forever. The donuts were good. Were they my favorite? no but do I like having this option available in St. Louis? Yes. I am so happy that there is a duck donut here. I experienced it first in KC and enjoyed it. When I stopped in, I hoped for the same experience. I came in during a rainy day so I grabbed a pumpkin spice latte. It was decent and well balanced (not as strong as Starbucks regarding pumpkin or coffee flavor) but good enough to get the job done. I also ordered 2 donuts: maple bacon and the apple pie. Both were made warm and fresh like the ones I had in KC. What stood out the most was the woman who was making the donuts. She was extremely friendly to everyone, greeted everyone who walked in, and wanted to make sure the quality was to our satisfaction.
