I had a really disappointing experience at Duck Donuts. The manager took our order and payment, then suddenly told us we couldn't go back into the bathroom because she claimed we "smelled like weed." Nobody was smoking or doing anything in the bathroom -- I literally just went in to wash my hands and came right back out. Regardless, smelling like marijuana is not a reason to treat customers disrespectfully or assume wrongdoing. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the manager became rude, argumentative, and ended up canceling our order after already taking our money. My little brother and I came in to try this place out! We decided we were going to try a bunch of different donuts for fun! We got the boardwalk, s'more's, chocolate explosion, strawberry shortcake, the seasonal cookie butter chip, and beach ball. I decided to order online and it's pretty user friendly but it took me a minute to get it right. You get to create your own doughnut with is pretty cool. I ordered a dozen then went to pick it up. Came out to about $28 with tax and online fee. Arrived around 10am on a Saturday and it was packed. I didn't take pictures inside because of that. Music was playing adhd the staff was nice. I was in and out. It's in a strip mall so there is plenty of parking. The doughnuts are cake like and it was warm when I got home. My youngest son and I thought the doughnuts were really good but sweet. Myb oldest enjoyed them as well and didn't feel as if they were sweet. First experience, loved it! When they say cake donuts they don't mean those dense cakey dry donuts, these are like actual CAKE donuts. I wouldn't call them cake donuts I would classify them as donut cakes. Big difference if you think about it. They are nice and fluffy and light like you would find in a birthday cake. When we started looking at the menu like a bunch of first timers the nice woman behind the counter asked if it was our first time and if we wanted her to explain how things worked. The location is in a corner of a very busy shopping plaza. Once you get to the corner of the lot where the store is, it's plenty of parking. My friend and I were on some major big back activities on this Saturday afternoon. It's the only location in St. Louis and a chain store across America. The ladies there were extremely helpful in providing suggestions and attentive from start to finish. I ordered a Peppermint Latte which wasn't too bad. To add more big to the big back activities, we both ordered lemonade for later. You walk in, are immediately greeted by the sweet smell of dough in the air and a smiling employee (even when you walk in shortly after opening!), your order is taken just as quickly as you can make it and they get right to work on the little masterpieces. I love Duck Donuts! I had a doctors appointment nearby earlier, so I figured I would stop by this place before heading to work. I am not a big sweets person, so I usually get donuts with bacon. It was so mediocre that I went to Schnuck's and bought jelly donuts, cinnamon rolls and muffins. Their donuts are 99 cents and they are larger with an airy texture. Schnuck's has always been OK.
