I finally got a chance to try Duck Donuts. I had never been there so I was expecting to walk into your usual doughnut shop where you see rows of yummy looking doughnuts and you start drooling over the vast selection. WELL...if that's what you're thinking you're in for a BIG welcoming surprise. You see at Duck Donuts the doughnuts are made fresh to-order. Who knew??? Well apparently everyone except Me! I guess the young man could tell I was a first timer after I asked..."where are the doughnuts?" I have to give high-5 kudos to Branden who patiently walked me through the ordering process and I settled on a half dozen after much back and forth and FINALLY made my selection...Bacon in the Sun, Glazed, BYO Pecan and Salted Carmel, and Chocolate Caramel Crunch. I thoroughly enjoyed having the option to select my own toppings based on what I like. It is important to note these are all vanilla based cake doughnut not your yeast doughnut you may be most familiar with from Krispy Kreme. The shop had one other customer when I arrived. The place was clean, countertops, floors and tables were all free from crumbs. The small staff working on Fri Aug 2 @ 3:25pm during my visit appeared to be doing their job and not goofing off. I had a great first experience and when I got home I had a small sample of each and enjoyed them. It's important to note, customized and made fresh to-order doughnuts come at a premium costs. The price I paid for the half dozen was about the same price I would pay at Krispy Kreme for a dozen.

What's not to love about Duck Donuts!! I have been going to Duck Donuts for over 10 years since we found them at the Outer Banks! We had always wished we could have them closer to home and once they started opening more locations we were so excited! While more of a cake-y donut (as opposed to what many of us are used to at Krispy Kreme lol), Duck Donuts has never disappointed. They have a long list of already delicious combinations or you can create your own! Start with an icing flavor, add some toppings, and finish it off with a flavored drizzle and your set! On our recent visit we opted for some new coffee inspired donuts with the Cookies and cream mocha, which was the perfect blend of coffee flavor and sweet Oreo prices, and the Vanilla Latte, vanilla icing with coffee drizzle. Both were amazing and perfect for any coffee lover lol. One our go to flavors is the Bacon in the Sun which is covered in Maple icing, topped with Chopped Bacon pieces, and finished with a Salted Caramel drizzle!! There has never been a visit that I haven't gotten this donut and every time keeps me coming back for more!! We highly suggest visiting the Outer Banks locations as well, the perfect family breakfast while on vacation! We will continue to come back for more and more of these delicious donuts!!

Had a baby and someone dropped off duck donuts. The baby loved them!! (See pic). I didn't even know 1-day-old babies could eat donuts. I've been to their location and it is nice inside, and the staff is friendly.

Duck donuts is one of my favorite places to get donuts! I love that when you get donuts from them they are always fresh and warm. The donuts are fluffy and cake like and they have a ton of toppings to choose from to put on them. My favorite donut from them is the Bacon in the Sun which is a donut with maple icing, chopped bacon, and salted caramel drizzle. It may sound like a weird combo but the salty crispy bacon really compliments the sweet maple icing and caramel drizzle. There are a ton of premade donuts you can choose from on the menu or pick any toppings you like. Every donut I've tried from them has been delicious! The staff at this store are nice and there's plenty of seating to enjoy your donut there.

Always a great donut. They are friendly people and very helpful. It seems much of the items are locally sourced which is great for the community. We don't do it often, but it's a real treat when we get a chance to get to a Duck Donuts.

Duck Donuts is a great donut shop. They make the donuts you want when you place your order - just the way you want them. We ordered 6 donuts with different flavors. They made them while we watched, and they were still warm when they gave them to us. Everyone of them were incredible. They also offer other choices like coffee, drinks and ice cream. I highly recommend Duck Donuts. I give them a 10/10 rating.

Great experience all around!!! Walked in at 6:59, not realizing they closed at 7pm and they were so nice to still accommodate our order and were so patient while we picked which doughnuts we wanted. Will definitely be back to this location! Not to mention the doughnuts were great!

I cannot express enough how much I love these donuts. These are amazing! They are so worth any wait. Although, they can get quite busy, they definitely try their best. And it shows in how well made the donuts are. And how they taste! Always warm and that first bite, heaven!!! It's a bit smaller in the inside when crowded, but I don't mind. 10/10 heavenly donuts!! So worth it!

    All delicious

When we came to the Yelp event at Goofy Foot we saw Duck Donuts across the way and obviously we couldn't miss out on this, we have been meaning to try them for a while! We got an assorted dozen and it did not disappoint. They are beautiful, first of all, and secondly they are delicious. I really like the cake donut base and I found all of the toppings generous, good quality and flavorful. I honestly couldn't tell you which flavor was my favorite, I definitely took a bite of every single one though which is my favorite way to sample a place like this.

We got the blueberry hush puppies, double biscuit breakfast, shrimp and grits with home fries and a side of fruit. Hush puppies, perfection. The honey butter is a real nice touch. The double biscuit was enough food to bring home for our teenager also. Shrimp and grits, they do not lie when the list all the meats. Easily 2/3 meat to 1/3 grits. Very tasty but brought at least 3/4 of it home. Home fries, perfection, crispy and seasoned. And the side of fruit was actually blueberries, strawberries and sliced bananas, instead of a bunch of melon and soft grapes like some places do. Server was great. Overall, I'd love to come back, but I will 100% make a reservation if possible next time.

Entrées followed in a reasonable time, no real issue there. Sammy G's has been in High Point for years and offers a wide menu with a little bit of everything. They also bring out little yeast rolls that are pretty good and they were warm when served. We started with the thin cut onion rings. My husband said "less than spectacular," and that sums it up. Some were sliced so thin you mostly tasted breading, and they were a bit greasy. I would skip these. He ordered the fish sandwich with Brussels sprouts (premium side with a small upcharge). The sandwich was okay, nothing special. The Brussels sprouts were good, nicely cooked with solid flavor. I had the Fratellis salad with greens, cranberries, feta, mozzarella, Granny Smith apples, and candied pecans, and added sirloin for an upcharge. They forgot the steak at first, but brought it out shortly after in a separate bowl. Not a big deal. The sirloin was cooked medium as requested, a little red inside and tender enough to cut easily. It had good flavor. I chose the apple cider vinaigrette, which worked well with the salad. I also ordered the chef's selection soup, which was supposed to be lobster bisque. If there was any lobster, it was microscopic. The flavor was slightly bitter and just not good. I asked for it to be taken off the bill. Service handled everything well, including the mistake with the steak and the soup. Atmosphere is casual tavern style, relaxed and easy for a weekday lunch. Must order: Fratellis salad with sirloin and apple cider vinaigrette (yummy), Brussels sprouts Heads up: Skip the thin cut onion rings and don't expect much from the bisque. Other soups, I've had here in the past have been great though.

Between excellent service, from the host to the kitchen staff, and being a bright, cheery place decorated in a modern farmhouse feel (only complaint is the HARD seating), we love this place. The food is always delicious and seasoned perfectly with FLAVOR. For the appetizer, the Salad Pizza is absolutely scrumptious and was recommended by our server our first visit here last year. Honestly, it keeps bringing us back. The flavors are incredible. It has feta, mozzarella, topped with organic greens, shaved onions, tossed in a lemon/dijon dressing with shaved parmesan. It's a flavor bomb in the mouth. The meatloaf, is to die for. If you're a meatloaf eater this is for you. It's so tender and juicy and perfectly seasoned. Melts in your mouth and the sauce on top is the perfect blend of sweet and savory to top it off. For my two sides this time I chose the fried brussels sprouts and the greens. The greens are always seasoned perfectly and the brussels sprouts were crispy and full of flavor. They tasted even better dipped in my meatloaf sauce so that was a win-win. My boyfriend had the special which was short ribs. For his two sides, he had greens and green beans. The short rib was perfectly tender and absolutely delicious full of flavor and moist for him. The green beans and the greens were also perfect as well full of flavor, just enough fat and butter. It's a great little date spot or a family dinner. They also have outdoor seating covered with umbrellas. There's a bar inside with a TV if you choose to go watch sports and the food here is always on point full of flavor and makes you want to come back and try more things on the menu. I was pretty taken aback by how many dessert options they had. Not only did they have a plethora of types of desserts, but they had sooo many flavors/varieties of each one. A dozen different variations of cheesecakes, several cupcake varieties, a dozen different kinds of macarons, several different cakes, tiramisu, tres leches, banana pudding, edible cookie dough, more cookies than I could name, brownies, eclairs, and more that I'm sure I have forgotten. If you can name it, I'm sure they have it. I've been looking for somewhere nearby to get a proper macaron (as opposed to a hard, macaron shaped cookie without the traditional texture) at a reasonable price point. This definitely met those criteria, so of course we tried a flower shaped macaron. It had the perfect, delicate cookie and that classic, light almondy flavor. We also had a brownie batter cookie, which was delicious and reminds me of something I would have saved on Pinterest a decade ago but never gotten around to making, much less as well as they do. Though there was a line inside, we were served super quickly by friendly staff, and found a nice seat outside in the sun. They also had abundant indoor seating. It closed in early February for what were supposed to be renovations, only to reopen months later with a new name and a new concept, trading slightly upscale Southern for more upscale Italian. In some regards, this makes sense - it fills a void created by the closure of Lulu and Blu - but in other ways, it's a massive gamble. My wife and I went for our anniversary dinner, and while it was an overall pleasant experience, it also made us miss Magnolia. The higher price point is the chief culprit. Otto and Blue offers pastas in the $20s and entrees starting in the $30s, bread and olive oil not included. While we were celebrating an occasion that merited such a splurge, it's hard to imagine the restaurant remaining competitive at those prices once the sheen of newness wears off. Look past that, however, and Otto and Blue shines in both ambiance and service. It's classy without being stuffy, and the dark turquoise tones suit it well. Allison, a Magnolia Blue mainstay, was personable and attentive and provided excellent service throughout the meal. Otto and Blue's menu offers apps, salads, pastas, and entrees. It's predominantly Italian albeit with a few options for the steak-and-potatoes crowd. The dishes range from recognizably classic (rigatoni Bolognese) to conspicuously elevated (halibut piccatta). After mulling over several offerings, we went with the bread service, tagliatelle, and duck cacciatore. The food ranged from fairly good to outstanding. While $9 for bread is a tough pill to swallow, they executed it as well as they possibly could have: a hot, fresh ciabatta with tasty herb butter, olive relish, and a quality olive oil-balsamic combo as accompaniments. The cacciatore boasted a pair of duck legs confit, and while I'm usually no fan of dark meat poultry, these were prepared well with crispy skin and plenty of meat. For a typically hearty dish, the sauce seemed light (and a bit subdued), but that could be a consequence of serving atop polenta (more absorbent) rather than pasta. Speaking of pastas and sauces, the tagliatelle hit a nice balance of creamy and zesty without swimming in its white wine lemon sauce. Surprisingly, the highlight of the meal ended up being the dessert that Otto and Blue kindly offered as an anniversary gift. A scoop of vanilla bean gelato came adorned with a Biscoff cookie, a drizzle of olive oil, and a dash of salt. If salt and especially olive oil on ice cream seem vaguely blasphemous, don't knock it until you try it. Each bite was thoroughly delicious. It's a given that good food doesn't come cheap, but even so, Otto and Blue has no margin for error to justify what it charges. On food alone, it was close but not quite there. However, the overall experience made it worthwhile, and I have no regrets about dining here.
