My go to when I'm craving something sweet! Decided to get two dozen for me and my family. There were some new flavors on the menu that I hadn't tried before: the caramel apple pie and apple cobbler. I also ordered maple bacon, almond joy, oreo cookies and cream, French toast, and vanilla coconut caramel. All flavors were a 10/10. Honestly I did not like the donuts or the service here. When my wife and I walked in it was completely silent with no greeting from staff so we walked up to the register to not be spoken to until I asked a question. I had a bad experience, I walked in and asked for the donut with ice cream cheese then tells me that he doesn't have strawberry ice cream so I said I just want the donut by itself. I'd say these donuts are very tasty, but I believe that they are only the best when they're freshly made and hot. The last couple of times I have been to this location, the donuts were given to us a little sloppy. Think the prices are pretty decent, but I do like that. They offer more than just donuts at this donut shop. I love the set up inside, I appreciate that we can watch the donuts being made. it's really cool to see the donuts preparation. Everything is always clean whenever I'm in there, and so are the bathrooms. The cashiers are really nice and patient because there's so many different donuts to choose from. Terrible service! The associate took my order for a dairy free latte. Charged for the diary free milk then made it with whole milk in front of us. I asked is that dairy free? She said yes. I said okay just because I'm lactose intolerant. She said oh sorry I'll remake it. Then proceeded to make it and let half the espresso shots miss the cup. I mentioned it and she said it's fine. I placed an order thru phone to pick up next morning for work meeting and when I asked for the receipt they simply said they couldn't retrieve previous day receipt and there's nothing they can do. Just left duck donuts. Ask for a "duck dozen", was told they didn't have and to order individually. I proceeded to do so, ask the young lady if had all twelve picked. Despite getting there relatively early in the morning all the donuts were cold and definitely didn't taste fresh. My husband lost his wallet there or in the parking lot in front and came back not even 15 minutes later and they were very unhelpful and unwilling to even try to help. We filed a police report and have called numerous times asking for them to review the footage and keep getting the same response "the owner is not in and will review them when they're in tomorrow". Placed an order for pickup for it to be ready by 10:15. Got to the store and waited for around 15 minutes until anyone even said hello, or asked if we could order or need help. Had to interrupt the worker and ask if we could pick up our order. They explained to us that only one 50 count mini donuts were ready. We then had to wait another 20 minutes until we got it, which we saw them just place old ones in the microwave. Then when we got the box, it did not have the big icing like it does in the pictures. It only had one container of icing that was extremely small, we asked for one more since we got 2 50 counts and only one small icing. he said sure but usually each order comes with only 1, but since it's christmas he will give us one more. I then called the store in chesepeake to find out if this was true and that worker explained for every 10 you get a small icing, so we should have gotten 10 small icings. the worker was acting like he was doing us a favor when he was really nothing but lazy. read more

I was super excited to try Duck Donuts because I've heard such great things about them. I was also intrigued by their ability to customize the donuts for you. First off, there are so many fan-favorite and made-to-order donut options so I recommend trying one of those if you don't know what flavor goes well with what. I'm a yeast donut kind of girl but wanted to try these cake donuts. I prefer yeast donuts because they're generally lighter, fluffier, and airy. I ordered half a dozen: Glazed, The Beach (vanilla icing with cinnamon sugar), PB Paradise (PB icing with chocolate drizzle), Sunrise (Lemon icing with raspberry drizzle), Vanilla with rainbow sprinkles, and Chocolate with shredded coconut. They were good but not great or life changing. I enjoyed the chocolate with shredded coconut the most. I know they're donuts and they're supposed to be sweet, but they are WAY too sweet. I've had plenty of donuts before and I'm sure Duck Donuts can take the sugar level down a couple of notches. The donuts were also too oily for me. The presentation of these donuts could also use a little work. I can't think of a resolution but I noticed there was a lot of cross-contamination when the staff was icing the donuts. The price for a singe donut is $1.95 each. The total for two donuts came up to be around $5 after tax. Definitely slightly more experience than most donut chains, but it is freshly made when you order it, so makes sense for the high prices. Service: 4.25 - Staffs are friendly and greeted us as soon as we walk in. They have a convenient online ordering system in place too that works well and provided an accurate time for pick up. We ordered in-store, and donuts only took around 5 minutes to make, so staffs were all efficient and fast at making the donuts. BLUF: Donuts are always served hot, fresh, and delicious. If you looking for a donut do not duck trying out Duck Donuts. For a chain they are pretty good. It seems like many places like these are popping up and plenty of copy cats doing high end donuts. Still I go for the plain old glazed or sugar donut. There really is not that option on the menu but the closest to those would be the french toast and the beach. Both came out warm as I got there in a bit of a rush and they were prepping donuts. I was very satisfied with my selection and the donuts were not to light and not too heavy. I will say it will fill you up with two like I had but not leaving you feeling heavy ready to roll back into bed. Not that rolling back into bed is ever a bad idea. There are other options and of course a variety of coffee options. I am interested in trying one of their breakfast sandwiches which I think get looked over with a name like Duck Donuts. They even have ice cream which is not hard to find in this and their other establishments. Hopefully one day they will decide to bring in "The Luther" for a short time period as an option on their menu. read more

The hubs and I were killing some time till the stores opened. Upon entering the small shop the aroma of sweet frosting and fried donuts was titillating my senses. Yes we must get more than one donut I thought. A few to eat now, and then the rest to take home. Well we agreed to 4 instead of 6 lol. We had one vanilla icing with raspberry drizzle, chocolate icing with mint drizzle, vanilla icing with holiday sprinkles, mint icing with Oreo cookie pieces, and hot fudge drizzle. I hate to admit this, but I've frequented OBX for years and I've never once stepped foot in a Duck Donuts! So I was super excited when this location opened in our neighborhood, though it took me a while to finally check it out! Online ordering was easy enough, and the site said it would be ready in 10 minutes. Upon arrival, I was quickly greeted by friendly staff and started on my iced coffee. The donut sandwich took a few minutes longer but didn't mind. Especially because that meant I got to watch the employees work their magic on the donuts behind the counter. Now I realize why they're so popular-- each donut is topped by hand! The bacon, egg and cheese donut sandwich somehow made it home without being eaten, but was devoured in .2 seconds.
