    The Famous Pastrami Sandwich

Absolutely incredible food and atmosphere! If you're in town visiting or a local, this hidden gym is worth the stop. Hands down the best pastrami sandwich I've ever had!!

If you are reading this because you are trying to decide if you should visit this small, but mighty, cafe.....then the answer is a resounding YES!!!! Absolutely! Go now! And as soon as you walk in the door, ask for a loaf of French bread to go and a croissant doughnut to munch on while you're standing in the store paying for it. Soooo delicious!!!! I cannot believe I have lived in Hampton Roads for all these years and never stopped in. I've been totally missing out!!

If it's pastrami you're looking for... here it is. Great characters working here. I said Pastrami sandwich He said Medium? I said Large. He said You can't eat it, get the medium. It's a phenomenal sandwich with salami and cheese served hot. I said,"To go." He said," You have to eat it here. It's hot." I stayed. Take some time to eat in and talk. It's a great experience.

The hype is real. The medium pastrami sandwich and the orange donuts are worth every penny and calorie. Don't convince yourself to get the regular, you need the medium. The bread is different and the bread with medium is EVERYTHING.

this place is a gem that we always drive by but have never stopped in! I am SO glad we did that! the donuts and turkey sandwhich is AMAZING! Even the customer service is exeptional... a gem we will definitely drop in more often.

Great little hole in the wall deli. Handmade in house baked goods and sandwiches. We tried some amazing sweets and plan to come back for the sandwiches. If you're looking for cheap price go grab something from a local grocery store bakery. You can't get this kind of quality from anywhere other than this kind of spot and as the owner said ingredients aren't cheap!

In a land of fast food this is a historic landmark with people and food you just don't see anywhere anymore. Hopefully this place lives on forever. Amazing pastrami sandwich and bread pudding.

Let me start this review by stating that I don't really eat meat and I definitely don't eat pastrami. This place is the exception. My husband and I saw a few reviews for this place and a cool old photo so we thought we'd check it out. Upon walking in you're greeted by the owner who is an older gentleman and a character in the best way. He had us laughing immediately. His grandfather opened the business 109 years ago and it's been in the family the entire time. Amazing! My husband wanted a sandwich so he placed his order. The owner looked at me and told me that I needed a sandwich, too. I would see how good my husbands was and I'd regret not getting one. He's so charming that I immediately agreed... even though I don't like pastrami. This man could have told me to go rob a bank and I probably would have done it. The sandwiches come out and they looked good. I was still a little worried because of my distaste of meat so I took a small bite and WOW... I was in heaven. This sandwich was one of the best I've ever had. Not too much meat and just the right amount of toppings. It's pastrami, salami, cheese, tomato, onion, pickles, and mustard. It's just so simple and so good. The meat is hot and that added to the great flavors. Nothing overpowering, just all melding together. The owner immediately asked if we liked it and we were falling over ourselves with compliments. After devouring our sandwiches we ordered some pastries to go. This was after the owner let me try samples of all the cakes and gave us an eclair to share. We left with orange donuts, a linzer tart, ginger cookie, hot cross buns, and a donut made from a croissant. All outstanding. Seriously. My favorite is the croissant donut. Do yourself a favor and please go check this place out. It's everything you need and want in a neighborhood spot. We can't wait to go back.

The owner will tell you that you want the pastrami sandwich. You may not be certain that you want the pastrami sandwich. You are incorrect. Order the pastrami sandwich. Eat the pastrami sandwich. Love thepastramisandwich. I'm a big dude and the medium was plenty. Delicious French bread sub roll piled high with warm pastrami, raw onions, tomato, pickles, and mustard. All hail the pastrami sandwich.

The hot pastrami was delicious. We tried a variety of pastries, the orange donuts, eclair, chocolate "cigar", bread budding, and a piece of baklava, everything was delicious. This place looks like it's been around forever, but don't let its looks deceive you, they have excellent food.

They told me 3pm and when I arrived the cake wasn't finished. I had to wait 15minutes and the piping did look a little rushed. I would have preferred they said a later time and were able to make the piping look as neat as possible. This being said I'm still impressed and grateful they made the cake on such short notice. I also requested pastel colored filling and it was very dark. Unfortunately I did not love the taste of the cake and couldn't not eat more than a few bites. The vanilla icing was overly sweet. While there…read moreis no shortage of great filipino food in NYC, this place does something quite special which is hard to find - merging authentic filipino flavors in a well-crafted, delicious and new way. Everything I've had here is delicious, but here are some of my favorites: UBE BLONDIES *** Probably one of their most signature items that stays on the menu season to season, this crumbly, satisfyingly dense, soft baked good with that nice punch of ube flavor will really have you coming back for more. The frosting glaze is just perfect, adding that sweetness that carries the ube flavor really nicely. The texture is just soooo satisfying, you can just tell when you cut your fork through it that it has this airy, yet dense and crumbly texture. TURON FRITTER Kind of like an apple fritter, but oh so crumbly, delicious, bright, and soft on the inside. Also had their brown sugar boba pudding cup when it came out, and it was really good; the tapioca actually blended quite nicely and was chewy and fresh, which means you're not stuck chewing it forever. Definitely on the sweeter side, but brown sugar items tend to be that way.

Parking is street parking, but we were able to find a spot pretty close, which was convenient. The bakery itself is very clean and super cute inside, with a nice little area that would be perfect for a quick photo op. I also really liked the self-order kiosk. I love being able to look through the menu and take my time deciding what I want without feeling like I'm holding up the line. There were also a lot of drink options, including hot coffee, iced coffee, frozen coffee, and frozen drinks. I tried the Banana Pudding Iced Latte. It was good and honestly better than most banana-flavored drinks I've had, but I personally wanted more banana flavor to come through. It wasn't bad at all--I still drank the entire thing but I would've loved a stronger banana pudding flavor. The Strawberry Cheesecake Muffin was SO good. Soft, huge, and delicious. Definitely one of the highlights for us. No notes on that one! But let's talk about the SHRIMP & GRITS. I have another restaurant in Virginia Beach that has held my #1 spot for grits for a VERY long time. I've tried shrimp and grits all over Hampton Roads and even in other states, and nobody had really come close. Crave Bakery is officially neck and neck with them now. The flavor is completely different from my Virginia Beach favorite, which is why I can't necessarily say one is better than the other. They're just two very different takes on shrimp and grits and both are now at the top for me. The portion was pretty generous, too. We split one bowl and were still super full afterward. The shrimp and grits were hot and flavorful, and flavor-wise, I have no notes. My only personal preference was the consistency. I like my grits a little thicker, while these were more on the loose/creamy side. My sister actually thought the consistency was perfect, so that's definitely just a personal preference and not really a criticism. We also tried a couple of cookies. We had the lemon cookie and a ginger molasses cookie. The lemon cookie itself was good, but we weren't crazy about the icing on top. It was very sweet and, to us, felt unnecessary because the cookie was already sweet enough. We would've preferred the cookie without the icing. The ginger molasses cookie was the biggest miss for us. And this one is interesting because I actually like ginger molasses cookies! I've had one from another bakery before and really enjoyed it, and I also like ginger snaps. This particular cookie was just molasses, and neither of us liked it. So I'm not sure if it's simply that this particular cookie wasn't for us, or if the ginger molasses cookies I've had in the past were more ginger which is why I liked them. Either way, this one wasn't our favorite. Customer service was nice, and we didn't have any issues during our visit. Overall, the shrimp & grits and strawberry cheesecake muffin were definitely the standouts for me. The bakery is cute, clean, has a good variety of food and drinks, and I absolutely loved the self-order kiosk. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu and honestly, I need those shrimp and grits again.

Staff is friendly, patient with me as I browsed their extensive menu offering beverages, sandwiches, breakfast items (bowl, burrito, bagels, etc) They have various choices of individual pies (apple, peach, etc.), cookies, cakes, muffins etc. Ambiance is casual but slightly upscale. Very IG'able. Seating for about 20 people with various standard, high top, settee options. Music slightly loud for such ambiance.... The kale chix bowl didn't even have kale. There was way too much sour cream, wish they serve it on the side, made to make serving look more. They didn't even care to wipe the bowl side clean (see photo), it didn't look appetizing as if they just plopped everything. For $15 it was not on par with sausage egg cheese grits bowl from Waffle House. I'd come back for the coffee selections.
