I was so excited when I learned that Duck Donuts was opening a location at the Norfolk Premium Outlets. I had previously been to their location in Virginia Beach and was so impressed by their donuts. I love how they come out piping hot, gooey, and delicious. It's super fun to watch the donuts be made all the way from the fryer to when the toppings are put on. I love how they specifically make it so that kids and adults alike can step up on a little ledge to watch the donuts take shape. I first visited when this location first opened. I thought the staff were all very accommodating. They were closing a little bit early for their soft opening. Yet they still tried to serve as many guests as they could before closing time. One little ding that I wanted to mention that perhaps the location could approve on was that there were two people trying to put on toppings at the same time during my visit which quickly devolved into an awkward situation. While the person making my doughnuts seemed very cordial and courteous to his coworker. His coworker awkwardly kept trying to butt in and get to certain toppings. At first, I thought that it was a bit of a joke or a show. But it's slowly became clear that this particularly aggressive doughnut maker was not joking in the slightest. This made the experience a bit uncomfortable. I think for a donut shop that prides itself for being fun and inventive, the making of the donuts to be the funnest part. I'm sure that this was just a little kerfuffle and not really indicative of a typical experience. I will definitely be back to this location in the near future. So my favorite donuts are the maple bacon donuts, the Oreo doughnut, and pretty much all their classic flavors. Excited to have a franchise in the neighborhood! read more

The maple bacon, the coconut and the pumpkin donuts we got were delicious. Very sweet but all around great. The sausage egg and cheese on a donut was good but I could live without it for the price. The business is very clean and I like that you can watch them make your order as you wait. It's well lit and very modern. The only drawback is the wait time. This is not a quick stop on the way into the office kind of place. I guess that's also the price you pay when it's made to order and not donuts picked off the shelf like other donut chains. read more

First time here, loved that the donuts were hot and fresh. We ordered a 6 pack. My favorite was the lemon/raspberry. They had messed up our order by adding bacon to one of our donuts. They corrected it. However the pieces of bacon ended up on a few of our other donuts (I'm not a huge bacon fan). We just picked them off. We will definitely give them another try. read more

First time coming here. Whoever was the cashier today at 3pm was extremely rude and had RBF. I accidentally said "cake batter shake" instead of "birthday cake" and she looked at me SO ugly. This was my first time having Duck donuts and I was impressed. During this pandemic they have implemented a curbside pick up option so you can have your donuts brought to your car. So I appreciate that, I try not to go inside places if I don't have to during this time. My donuts were ready at the time they said they would be ready. And they were nice and warm. The only downside is once they cool off, all of the toppings get hard and pretty much break apart and fall off of the donuts. I love cake donuts but once these cool off, they remind me of how Krispy Kreme donuts do, it's like they don't really hold up well. And they just taste like sugar and grease, and it's not much of any cake to chew. I hope that makes sense. My favorites are the maple bacon, the cinnamon roll, and French toast. Eat them warm, or don't eat them. That's my only advice. read more

Love that it's closer than the Chesapeake one, so we can enjoy it after a shopping trip! Duck Donuts are not your average donut shop. They will make each donut to your order. You fill out an order sheet specifying your toppings for each donut. There are seasonal toppings that will be available during Christmas and other times of the year. So check what is available prior to ordering. Some of the toppings were not really fresh to my liking but just ok. Good service. I would suggest ordering a half dozen unless you can consume them in short order. The donuts don't keep good overnight but are tasty when eaten quickly. I will be back soon. read more

SOLD. I've been wanting to try Duck Donuts forever- but the Oceanfront location was always packed and I'm not a fan of standing in long lines or huge menus. I am also not normally a fan of cake donuts. When the Outlet location opened - I was excited because I figured at some point I would be in the area and finally decide to walk in. When I got a Facebook advertisement that they were offering free delivery this week, I jumped on ordering. I'm sure my order was awful to make I ordered as many combinations as I could. I've worked in bakeries for years and somehow never worked in one that had fancy donuts, so I wanted to try everything! I ordered a dozen through their website, and not only was my order fast and accurate (I think..what did I order again?)...but the donuts were still warm and STEAMING when I bit into them. When I say I'm not normally a fan of cake donuts - apparently what I'm not a fan of is dense and heavy frozen donuts that get thawed out at gas stations and grocery stores. These are AMAZING. I still prefer yeast donuts, but these were fluffy and tasted like funnel cake. They were heavy on the toppings, and my box just looked so festive. My only suggestion for a new Duck Donuts customer is that the toppings fall off of the Glaze, so I suggest always getting an icing base if you're getting toppings. My only complaint is about the donut ordering- Not all of the holiday options are on the "custom dozen" page (for example - the peppermint topping) YUM read more

I was very happy to know that Norfolk has a duck Donuts location recently built. When visiting the area it's convenient if you don't want to drive all the way out to the oceanfront. Parking is easy.
