We arrived here in mid August when everything is in bloom and there's lots of low hanging fruit sitting on the vines achieving varasion. We headed in to the main house, which is their primary tasting room and was built just within the last 20 years. We were handed a glass of brut rosé and led to our tasting table. You can do a walk-in, but you take your chances because if they are filled, you will be turned away. Our wine guide Chris, was exceptionally knowledgeable as I peppered him with questions concerning both the wine and the winery. His passionate hospitality really completed our experience. For that matter, it seems like all the staff members are well-versed and experienced in this profession. Merlot is something that is done exceptionally well here in case you're Merlot fan. It was under 50 degrees and we were seated outside despite having a reservation and there being tables open inside the entire time we were there. Yes there is a heater, so my husband's bald head burned and our feet and legs froze every time a wind blew. I'm not sure if our server even introduced himself. He was annoyed when I said I didn't like red wines and while he did sub them out for whites he was completely annoyed. He poured two wines and said a sentence or two about them and left. Then came back and poured another two and left. He did give my husband a bonus pour of red wine. Which every table around received that and many more. He didn't have other tables we could see. He was clearly annoyed about either us or working out in the cold or who knows what. We were in and out in about a half hour and rank this among the worst of the 8 tastings we did over four days. read more

It's been over a decade since I've had the pleasure of visiting the Napa Valley area and to begin my recent return with a tasting at Duckhorn Vineyards was a smart call. The main house is a classical Victorian style outfitted with a modern wine showcase room, a spacious tasting lounge & bar, and wrap-around porch with breathtaking views of the western mountains. Throughout the building, you'll enjoy various etchings and prints of ducks, menus from White House luncheons, a company store and a grand mural of a nature scene from a nearby pond. I wish to thank Kay M. and Andie M. for setting up our tasting! We could not have asked for a better experience!! Upon entering, Tony greeted our party and immediately made us feel at home. We began with a sparkling rosé. Our party of 3 then proceeded to the side porch, to be served by Jessica. She was both approachable and knowledgeable about Duckhorn's product and history. As a server, I was also impressed at how well Jessica mingled between all of her assigned tasting tables, assuring all of her guests felt attended. We tasted 2 Merlots, 2 Cabernets and a bonus wine, as well as a delightful charcuterie plate. I've worked in restaurants for decades- in Lexington, KY, Savannah, GA, San Jose, CA and now Las Vegas, and Duckhorn has always been a part of the wine list of those restaurants. It's no surprise that Duckhorn Vineyards puts on such a professional, entertaining and pleasurable experience for its visitors: their dedication to being world-class is obvious to anyone who's enjoyed their wine, and that ethos has translated to their on-site tasting experience. We went to Duckhorn after trying couple bottles from them sold in total wine, and we liked them a lot. It was such a bummer that we had very bad experience visiting the vineyard. To start with, no one was at the reception desk when we got there, and we have to wait for like 5 minutes. I guess they were busy, so did not say anything. Then we were seated under direct sunlight, despite there were couple seats available in the shade. It was over 85 in Napa Valley that day, and we were sweating... The worst part was with our host, Chris, who did not welcome us, or showed any interests talking with us the whole time. He basically poured us 4 glasses, recited 2-3 sentences that he memorized of the tasting notes for each wine, and left. In total he spent less than 5 minutes with us during our visit. He was more chatty serving a few other tables around us, not sure why we got treated differently. As for the wine, we did not like it either. We usually like full body cabernet sauvignon, but the one we got was on the lighter, sour end, not much after taste either. Merlot was ok, but priced ridiculously high. We were thinking of getting a wine club membership before we came to the vineyard, only to left with no bottles, no membership, nothing much but regret. We'd never come back again. read more

I was taking my grandma on a wine tour of California and she wanted to check out Napa and Sonoma. The wine was decent. The charcuterie board was ok. The person yapping at us about the wine was a little bit rude. I studied hospitality management including food and beverage operations. When I asked if we would be given separate glasses for each wine vs one glass for four different ones during our tasting (I learned you should be given a different glass for each wine) she snapped at me (she even got a few her facts wrong) but people are people and at the end of the day the wine was good and my grandmother enjoyed herself. read more

Around about the turn of the 21st Century; someone gave me a five-year old bottle of Duckhorn Vineyards Cabernet Sauvignon for my birthday.  Shortly thereafter, I invited a friend over to my Man Cave, ordered one of my favorite pizzas, and my friend and I shared both the pizza and the wine.  Before drinking it that first time, I decanted the Duckhorn Cabernet for 8 hours.   Subsequently, I worked out by trial and error that (for me) when drinking Duckhorn Cabernet decanting for several hours prior is required - unless the wine is 9 years old or older.  Ever since I drank that first bottle of Duckhorn, I've been an ardent fan.  Duckhorn's Cabernet are consistently excellent, and I always try to have a couple of bottles on hand for special (and not so special) occasions. The next time I was in their neighborhood, I made a tasting appointment.  When we arrived for our tasting we were escorted to our table outside the main building on the beautiful Duckhorn Vineyards.  The sommelier who took care of us that day was exceptional.  She spent time telling us in detail about all the wines they were pouring that day; she event offered us several tastes of wines that were not on the regular tasting menu.  Unfortunately, I hadn't anticipated how much we'd enjoy this tasting visit, so the only way we could take advantage of the offered extra tastings was to cancel our next appointment. Tip: If you're a fan of big, complex reds, I strongly suggest that you don't schedule a tasting appointment afterwards that's too close to yoour appointment here; you'll be much happier if you allow sufficient time here first. I've been meaning to do this for a very long time. And I'm glad, to take some time out to do it today. I also had Reservations here, on the 3rd day of January. I'm in Napa again today. It feels good to be back in Wine Country. It's kinda raining right now. I'm here at Duckhorn Vineyards this afternoon. I specifically picked-out this Vineyard. It's a very nice Vineyard. This is how I'm bringing in the New Year 2026. I'm not going to lie. It's been exactly 468 days since I had any Alcohol beverage. So I feel like I deserve this Drank. Toast to new achievements, and new memories. Today's focus, is Red's. They're famous for Red Wine. They got a great selection, including Merlot. And I appreciate, them bringing out some complimentary Cheese, and Apricot. It is a beautiful day, for a Wine Tasting, it was spectacular. They got some good people working here, and everybody is so knowledgeable, professional, they know everything about the product, and so skilled Sommelier. And I like how they value, Holidays. My favorite Bottle, was probably their high-end and the exclusive Bottle named, The Discussion. It's a very intriguing, name. This is one of the better Wines I had in this Region. 09232023 The girlfriend has a wine membership here and this has been one of our fave spots for our girls outings. The ambiance and the staff are super friendly and it's always nice to just decompress and catch up. This past time, we were able to sit outside and enjoy the sun with a hint of wind from Mother Nature. Our wine flight for that day was decent - the girls all loved it but I opted to drink the lighter side of the wines available. Our server managed to give us pinot noir tasting on the side, which I forgot what it was but it was delicious. We've visited Duckhorn about 5 times over the past 5 years. Every time seems to get better and better. The last time we visited we were able to enjoy a "Marlee's Signature Tasting." As a club member of Duckhorn, I was surprised by the lack of customer service I experienced on 11-23-25. The server was busy sitting down at another customer's table chatting while I was not greeted until 38 minutes after being seated. At the end of my tasting, another employee handed me my pick up shipment. If the employee didn't want to serve me just get another employee to take of my visit. read more

I booked Duckhorn Vineyards a few months ago but was unable to visit due to my husband catching Covid. The front desk was super empathetic and kindly moved my reservation to the following month. Right before my visit this weekend, I had to increase my party count and Marina at the front desk was helpful and prompt with returning my calls to get my reservation updated. Upon arriving, we were welcomed with a glass a Pinot rose. Our host Miguel, was extremely knowledgeable on the history and the production process of the wine. He was attentive, sweet and provided excellent customer service. This was truly one of the best experiences we had at Napa and we are Bay Area locals who visit Napa often! We were visiting our aunt on this trip who is a member at a number of wineries...this was our 6th one of the weekend & Adrian made it INCREDIBLY memorable in the best way. I was in Napa for a quick getaway and definitely wanted to go to Duckhorn since I really enjoy their wine. I definitely made sure to make a reservations (I know that they fill up pretty quickly so I definitely recommend if you are planning on coming to this winery). I made the first reservation for the day and since it was a Monday, it was very empty, which was great. (There was only 1 other party). Huge props to Miguel, our wine educator, we were able to learn a lot about the wines and he answered all of our questions. He definitely made the experience so much better. He also poured us a few additional pours based upon our discussions, which was great to try, including a pinot (which I typically do not enjoy), but really liked a lot. I am definitely going to come back here and if you are here, ask for Miguel to learn so much stuff. As for the grounds itself, it is beautiful! The Duckhorn mansion was cool to see. There is a small indoor area and a larger outdoor area. I sat outdoors in the patio and it was great. There is also a cat roaming around, Kitters, who I made friend with (lol). Definitely keep an eye out for him as he is super cuddly and friendly. I initially wanted to buy a couple of bottles, but realized that joining the wine club made sense to me. Their shipments were small and they provided free shipping. Unfortunately, they do not waive tastings for joining the wine club, but if you decided to go to any of the other wineries under Duckhorn during your stay, the tastings will be waived. I ended up last minute deciding to go to Paraduxx and got the tasting waived. Definitely will be back here again!! read more

I like the wines here but am disappointed at the tasting experience. I used to love tastings here but I feel like they have gotten so commercialized and less personal. Our host was nice and allowed us to try certain wines outside of the tasting I really wanted to try (which I ended up buying multiple bottles of), but he was barely with us the entire 1 hr tasting. It was supposed to be 45 minutes but a full 40 minutes passed before we even got to our 2nd wine because he was busy handling 3-4 other tables (he appeared to be the only one serving the entire outdoor section we were at). As a result, we were incredibly late to our next tasting and we sat there idle doing nothing for most of the tasting. Very disappointing. That said, I still have to give 4 stars because I really do enjoy the wines. My favorites are the Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc, the Goldeneye Pinot, and the Three Palms Merlot. read more

We were seated in the outdoor area and it was such perfect weather. We were shaded by the trees, but they also have umbrellas if needed.
